I was at lake Shrine around 2010 it was my only time to visit as a guided tour as a SRF member from San Diego Temple. The monk had been there for many years and spoke of prominent people who came over the years and he spoke of Elvis. More importantly is every SRF location is alive with the presence of the Masters they come and go and assist in so many unseen ways. As I stood preparing to get a lucky chance to enter the houseboat as I waited on the shore "Yogananda" made his presence known to me as he stood on the deck of the boat. I wanted so desperately to point and shout out loud Yogananda-Master is there but I remained silent and went inside. He stood with me and worked on me energetically for the entire time I was in houseboat. I have been blessed to have witness-awareness to him more than a few times since. He visits me in my dreams and even shows up in my home and he is always in my sanctuary "healing center" on my property in fact he is here now as my heart opens to share this story with you. I love them all very much and we are so fortunate to have such wonderful loving friends watching over us from the spiritual world. Seek the path of the Masters as they will bring us home to God. www.divinegracehealing.com

The Lake Shrine was given to Yogananda as a gift. Over the years, he has remodeled it, and even today it continues to receive renovations. It now has a retreat center and a new expanded temple. The spiritual energy experienced there, cannot be described with words.

I didn't know about SRF until years after I first heard Elvis on the radio during the '50s - 1973, to be exact. And I didn't learn about Elvis being connected with Daya Mata and SRF until perhaps 25 years later - as I mentioned in one of my videos. It seemed so improbable that at first I couldn't believe it; everyone sure did a good job of keeping it quiet.
I'm grateful to you for creating this interesting video.

I believe that Elvis was a deeply Spiritual man whose lives life was way out of kilter, due to the dross and shallowness of all that surrounded him. We will become enlightened, when it is time for our eyes to be raised to the heavens ... xoxoxo

I never knew Elvis was a devotee.

Elvis was born and raised Christian in the South and I don't think that ever left him. But he still had a strong hunger for more understanding. A man named Larry Gellar became his close friend and Elvis entreated him to teach him more, to explore more. They read many, many spiritual books. They would talk all night sometimes. Larry introduced him to Self Realization Fellowship and they would go to Lake Shrine to walk and talk or to be silent. People walking there were so considerate to leave him alone. Elvis met Daya Mata and they became lifelong friends, although I haven't read or heard anything beyond this. Elvis had a great love for Christian gospel music and after giving a concert he and his guys would sing gospel to wind down and relax. When someone called him "the king" he said, and I heard him say this, "There is only one king and that is Jesus Christ." He didn't like to be called king. If that can be called a devotee, then he was. Elvis was a very spiritual guy. Elvis had a twin brother who died at birth and that was on his mind constantly. Like "Why me?" He wondered why this destiny was his. The graves of his immediate family are in a garden in his favorite home in Tennessee and there is a grave site for the twin even though the body isn't in it; Elvis wanted him included. Sometime in his life he lived in Beverly Hills perhaps that was when he went to Lake Shrine or on the many occasions he had to be in Los Angeles.

Elvis's life was more than a banal movie star. Everybody seems to try to 'claim' him. But I so believe it is sufficient to say he had broader interests than fried chicken & cheeseburgers. Though nobody would imagine he wanted to know 'the meaning of Life'. His personal beliefs will never be known because no one wanted 'Elvis the man'...they wanted him 30 ft tall and sparkling... that's the real tragedy, image over peace of mind.

I was just about to correct the vid for the Joan error with the correction Faye. No matter there was a book some yrs ago about Elvis's first visit to Mother Center nearby in LA which is the Head Quarters of SRF the people who operate the beautiful Lake Shrine. It speaks of the amazing welcome he received by all of the monks and nuns lining up to great him. Hey if we're all supposed to be princesses and princes of god I wonder why I didn't get that treatment on my first visit. :-(

Another winner. You continue to provide the most insightful and compelling Elvis information. This presentation personifies the teachings of Yogananda and the SRF in that it conveys a very peaceful and insightful message without forcing any kind of agenda. You have separated yourself from most of the other Elvis tribute video producers. Fantastic job!

You're cute. The Lake Shrine is a beautiful place, a jewel by the sea, it's quite a garden one of the best I've yet to see anywhere. Why not put it on your list of things to do one day, visit? Strange to have to include this warning thou, ironically, but watch out with the 'spirituality'. Matters of this nature are crucial and the answers change everything. ow I just noticed a typo in my original mess thankfully no nazies pounded me for 'great' and not 'greet'. Anyway, good luck in all things.

what good does speaking critically about issues of the day do when you cant actually change anything? it sounds good at the time, its cathartic but at the end of the evening its uneventful. 35 years later the rich have gotten richer and the poor poorer.
