Its a great investment, I think it's more geared towards older buyers who remember the "good old days" of the 911 who care more about the styling than the overall performance. It's only worth the price because it will not depreciate like other 911's.

I ordered a well optioned Carrera in the summer of 21. Couldn't get an S allocation w/o ADM so I snagged a Base allocation. It's my 3rd 911 in the last 10 yrs (964, 997). I've owned various British sports cars, sporty Japanese coupes in the 90's, an assortment of hot rods (e.g., K20 swapped X1/9), a Vette or two, some hot rod Audis, and a number of other interesting cars. The 992 - in base form - is the best car I've ever had. It has all aspects of the friction circle covered while being supremely comfortable. The 3 liter engine has lots of induction noise, pretty much sounding like an NA motor. Next week, I will have an APR Stage 1 tune installed. The new torque curve gets to 425ftlbs @ 2250 rpm staying above that figure until 5300rpm. From there it drops to 325lbft at red line. So a comparatively flat torque curve.

However much of the production is now shared with China and other locations so that the number of 911s sold in the United States has actually been limited to about 10,000 a year since the around 2005. Nearly $300k for the “Sport Classic” is nuts. One reason I always loved Porsche is because they were different than Ferrari and Lamborghini. I no longer feel that way. They have become Ferrari and Lambo wannabes with price minus the great sounding engine (aside from the GT3’s). Driving a non GT3 911 at lower speeds is nothing thrilling because the engine sound is mediocre at best.
The prices they are charging for 911’s now are insane but as long as people keep paying it, they will charge it. When I bought my C2S I had plans to move on to a GT3 but once corporate greed took over, I realized how overpriced 911’s have become and stepped away. Porsche made it easy not to miss the 911 with their prices increases.

My jaw dropped when I saw that price. Why anyone would pay that much for frog looking thing is beyond me. Crazy expensive. Definetly doesn't sound as good as the GTS which itself isn't a great note

#Tui's Big Movie #Strays opens this weekend!!! Stars #WillFerrell and #JamieFox as #Tui #RatedR Obviously
#GrandTurismo is also in early screenings, before opening wide on Aug 24th. #NISMO_GTRFest #Godzilla Yes there is a #Porsche scene.
#DavidHarbour from #StrangerThings and #BlackWidow and the Kid are excellent. They inject a lot of emotion into the plot. The crashes are more exciting than the racing action. Airborne at #Nurburing Ends at #LeMans, like #FordvsFerrari
BONUS: Hot Mom is #GeriHalliwell, #GingerSpice from #TheSpiceGirls.

_"The over-all point is that new technology will not necessarily replace old technology, but it will date it. By definition. Eventually, it will replace it. But it's like people who had black-and-white TVs when color came out. They eventually decided whether or not the new technology was worth the investment."_

I think this quote is appropriate when considering certain Porsche models. Some are investment pieces wrapped in modern materials. While others are modern marvels dressed in retro attire.
Each path inevitably leads to the road of happiness.
    Stay classy my friends.

I totally get why ppl like it but I just can t, it s the voice of reason that shouts cash grab despite the fact that it will hold its value, it s the sticker kinda theme that I find over the top, it s the spoiler that is only there coz of its cult status (technically, the adjustable or even retractable ones perform better according to Porsche), the only thing that really interests me is the gear ratio/torque development and what it does to the car...that s still a lot I admit but even if it might be a sound investment etc., there s sth inside of me that just shouts "no, I know what they re doing there and I don t like this path".

Nick Porsche used to be like a bargain super car. What’s going on with these prices. I go to the dealer $50k mark up on everything. They say they aren’t making as many sports cars now. What’s going on

I suppose when it comes to cars, if you're not going to lose money then the Sports Classic is worth it. But, one should look at where the $100K difference in price might be invested if not tied up in this car. For my money I'd stick to a GTS and put the $100K in the market. I think I would be just as happy and have money to spend! 😁

I have just replaced my 992 GTS for a Turbo. I am really happy with the trade. The Turbo just feels solid, better constructed. The lesser isolation on the GTS brings a lot of undesired noises in the cabin. The suspension is better tuned too. About the performance, I felt the Turbo more planted, even in straight line. The Turbo have it’s weight more balanced, it’s 60-40 against 63-37. In my city racetrack (Ayrton Senna International) the turbos are 2 seconds faster that GT3s if using the same Cup 2 tyres. A Turbo A Cabriolet was 3 seconds faster in Velocitá circuit with R Barrichelo as a driver of both cars.

Not that I can afford it, but even if I could afford it, there was a FULL STOP for me when you said 1 sec of turbo lag and much heavier.

Think they did it on purpose to recapture the fell of the old turbos? Turbo lag always gave me a second of panic as I was trying to pull out into traffic and the car wasn't going anywhere. Then another second of panic when it did kick in.

If you didn't care about a manual (and a ducktail), you could spec a 911 Turbo with heritage design package and have something faster and cheaper! :-p Yes, yes, I know it'll depreciate terribly.

Kiwi Buyers and Aussie buyers may need to stump up packets more. If indeed it was available. The Turbo S now commands in excess of $510k down under.
