For solo projects I find anything other than notetaking overkill to be honest, I tried this approach as well but it felt like I spent more time organising than building apps, obsidian is all I needed.

That's great! Following Agile can definitely be too much overhead, especially when working alone. For me, I've worked so long in an Agile Scrum environment that it's difficult for me to do it a different way.
I'm glad you've found a way that works for you! Obsidian is an awesome app!

@@creadevlabs I'm glad you've found your way as well! I hope my comment didn't come off dismissive to your method (wrote it very late at night).
As long as we're getting work done it's all good :).

No worries! Your comment didn't seem dismissive at all. As I said in the video, my way is just one of many, and I want to hear how others are managing their projects. I learn so much when others share, and I'm able to get ideas on how I could make my process even better.
Everyone is different, so we all have different approaches. What's important is finding what works best for us and running with it!

Nice! Many of the Agile processes are super useful for a solo dev even though they're designed for teams.

Awesome video, I am self taught and the first year or two before I joined my first team my projects were a mess and riddled with bugs! Things I NEVER went back to fix, I just worked on whatever popped into my head.
After working on a team that actually did "tickets/pointing", backlogs, sprints etc... I was able to SMASH out my own projects implementing this. It's insanely helpful! Again... great video :)

That's awesome! It's great having a process to follow so you don't get lost in the weeds, especially on a solo project.

Woa! As soon as I opened the video my screen went into HDR mode. Great viewing experience with a Macbook screen. I was not expecting to get HDR content for a simple productivity video.

I've been a solo dev on several large corporate projects and have tried everything you've suggested in one form or another. While not every practice ends up increasing productivity for me, I would affirm and support each tool and technique you mention. Your short video was quite an appreciated and validating experience for me and i might dust off some of my solo kanban boards and give it another go.😊

You should totally give it another try, and if it doesn't work, keep experimenting until you find something that does. You should check out my series on building your own perfect productivity system over on my website: creadevlabs.com/build-your-perfect-productivity-system-with-first/

I would really like to find a good open source Linux-based Agile system so that I could use it for my own projects.
    Any suggestions?😃

    • @creadevlabs
      @creadevlabs  Před 3 měsíci +1

Unfortunately I don't know of any open source ones. Most Agile software I've used is browser-based, so you should be able to use them no matter what OS you're using.

In my current solo dev project, there is usually a next step that most enables subsequent development. I work on that.

@@creadevlabs It's not massively gamified, just presented a little bit like a card based roguelike. There's actually a lot of cool features under the hood, like the milestones for planning releases and patches. Works very well with agile and CI.

@@creadevlabs I don't mind. It's visually striking and catches the eye. First of course the contrasting colors of white on red and green is a great subconscious signaler but beyond the smart psychological triggers, I like the art style, and it stands out, unique and very brandish. Obviously this style of art is not unique but I mean rather your version of it stands out more than others I've seen.
