    I've been wanting to make this rc plane from scratch, what I have in mind is a twin motor pusher on a flat wing made from 3 layers of foam board in a swept wing kind of shape, and the motors behind the wing, and I'd also have wingtips to just make it fly better along with some foam landing skids under the wing and the front of the fuselage, the motors I'm using are drone motors and I'm using drone props with them too, my only concern is that the prop will slip because I can mount the prop on the motor backwards, but less of it touches the motor because it's like a valley going to the middle of the motor shaft, although it stays on pretty well with pulling and with sudden acceleration when mounted properly, I was thinking, since it would be pushing on the motors, it would make it press up against the motor more, decreasing the chance of the prop slipping. The motor I believe is a xing-e 2306 2450kv 2s-4s motor, and the plane I have the motors on at the moment(which I'm planning to recycle the electronics and make a new plane after learning to fly it because the motors were mounted below the wing, so every time it was given power it would go up) runs them on 2 4s lipos each, it drains power fast but it's fun and kind of fast when flying.

    Man! That stinks. Amazing flight otherwise! Can’t believe it did the inverted high alpha! That thing was FULL of issues. I myself ALMOST crashed doing 120mph on my V900 earlier 😂 the wings FOLDED 3 times when I tried putting it at full throttle. Wings folded and went straight towards the ground. The elevator also came undone in the front part which allowed it to move side to side. Man! I thought that it was SAFE mode I tried flipping the switch but it WASNT in SAFE mode when I thought it was. So I therefore continued flying and tried full throttle a couple more times and it preceded to do the same thing. I somehow safely managed to get it down. Boy. That was scary. The footage was terrible. That’s what I’m sad about. 😂 so I’m not exactly sure what I should do with it. Oh well! Everybody has rough days!

    • @KB_RC
      @KB_RC Před 2 lety +1

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 2 lety +1

      How'd the wings fold? They should be super strong. That's legitimately concerning. I'd talk to Horizon tech support about that, they're really good about covering things even if they've been flown.

    • @KB_RC
      @KB_RC Před 2 lety +1

      @@TwoBrosRC No idea. And yes that’s definitely concerning. The last time I flew it before this morning the same issue had JUST started happening. Coming in for a low fast pass and it turned right towards my face so I had to pull out of it. But otherwise yeah I know it’s a safety hazard for sure 😂. Just too many flights? I myself have never pulled any high G’s with it. I bought it off another guy but that was over a year ago. So no idea! Highly doubt Horizon will cover that but I guess it’s worth a shot!?!

    @FFE-js2zp Před 2 lety +1

    It’s a little late but do you mix the thrust line out? It works really well, surprisingly. With a jet or a pattern aerobatic plane that I want to fly on rails, I’ll trim it up to fly straight as an arrow at cruise throttle, say half. Then, I know people will say doing this in the air is risky but most radios are designed to allow it, I call up a mix curve for each stick axis, one at a time. So in the case of a primarily horked up thrust line, I would call up the throttle to elevator curve, then increase throttle by, say, 10% at a time. For each throttle increment from cruise to full throttle, I drop an elevator mix curve point to counter the thrust line. Then I go back to cruise and do the same, in increments down to idle, dropping curve points to counter each thrust line error with a splined curve that is empirically set by manually inputting the exact amount of elevator needed to fly straight and level. I do the same with rudder. And the same with aileron. Then I put all three of those splined curves on the same switch. Flip that switch and the plane flies on a wire with throttle changes.
    I’ll do the same with the flap to elevator mix, so Flaps tracking down flies on a wire regardless of both flap position and throttle setting. Sometimes if I get crazy I’ll add a curve for flaps to rudder on a throttle curve and the same for aileron. Then flaps up or down doesn’t really affect the flightpath.
    In a forward/aft-swinging main gear pattern airplane or jet, or when CG really varies a lot as the gear travels down (Corsairs being maybe the worst offenders) I’ll usually mix gear position to elevator on a throttle incremented spline, too.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 2 lety

      I tried - the elevators didn't react well to it. It kept nosing into the ground even with the mix. I gave up and just started remembering to add pitch as I throttled up.

    • @FFE-js2zp
      @FFE-js2zp Před 2 lety

      @@TwoBrosRC
      Bummer, it could’ve be the difference between a simple linear mix and transferring the actual stick position to the curve while flying. I’m pretty sure Spektrum has that feature, but I’m not sure how easy/safe it is to drop level flight inputs required onto the mix curve while flying.
      Another (future) option that is more conventional/pure aero would be to put a lip on, or inside of, the bottom of each nozzle. So instead of a circular nozzle you have a permanent ramp on the bottom to hardwire some thrust vectoring. You see this on a lot of seaplanes with a high mounted pusher. The A-10 itself does this with the core nozzle inside the fan nozzle.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 2 lety

      Haha, it's unfortunately a bit late for that now - the jet's been dismantled. I don't think you can even get the V1 of it anymore. V2 might be interesting but I'd rather go with the Freewing 80mm version.

My highschool friend must have thought I was obsessed with flying FS95 on his computer. I would go to his place after school like I always had, but with FS95 I paid no attention to him. At all. :) And there were only a couple flap settings on the Lear.... like 0, 8 20 and 30 if I remember right. Which was annoying for trying to fly along with the airliners overhead at 170 KIAS with flaps 5.
      Hey, do you think people would want an RC 757 that was 4' 7" long? with 60MM EDFs?
      That would allow me to, in the future, make a 747 in the same scale with 70MM EDFs...

    I don't think purchasing a A-10 (any brand) to do "high-alpha" was the selling point or strategy behind this particular model. Having said that. At 9:58 if you'd continued with "down elevator" instead of attempting to roll you would have sailed smoothly out of your stunt. New maneuver within a maneuver always risky.

      You must be new to our channel! One of the main reasons people watch us is to see what models can actually do, and inverted high alpha with an A-10 is one of those things we do to push the limits of these models so anyone buying them sees how well built and capable they are. You are correct that we made a mistake on recovery there, but the V1 A-10 was getting to the end of its lifespan for us. Why fix a plane you don't enjoy flying. If you sell it, you'd have to explain all the bad qualities and with that, you'd have to bring the price down so low that it wouldn't be worth selling it... and I'd feel bad selling a plane that I thought flew badly....

    Hi Jon I’ve Just recently came across your channel and without a doubt you’ve got to have one of the best rc jet channels on CZcams! My only comment would be about the saying the jet has major issues with having the thrust line where it is. I would say the actual a 10 has the same issues which are going to be inherent with the engine placement. FMS made a very scale model so there’s no way to get away from it. If they dropped the thrust line down lower it’s simply would not look like an a10 and will look funny.
    Glad I found your channel! Fantastic stuff!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 2 lety

      Hey man, glad to have you aboard! Unfortunately this actually is a legitimate issue with the V1 A-10. I believe that I mentioned it in the video, but the V2 A-10 has a fixed thrust line which was adjusted by changing the angle of the exhaust nozzles behind the fans. V1 has them pointing down, which of course produces a pitch down response when thrust is added. That's one reason why it rolls squirrelly.
