- A film about the world's largest hacking convention and its 20th year running. Filmed over the summer of 2012 and containing hundreds of hours of interviews, parties, presentations and spectacle.
Over 280 hours of footage was recorded in support of the documentary, and five separate camera crews were in action.
Directed by Jason Scott with camerawork by Eddie Codel, Alex Buie, Drew Wallner, Rick Dakan, Steve Fish, Kyle Way and Rachel Lovinger.

I've been to one event in Vegas and the community at DefCon was so enlightening. I felt like I belong and I can be my honest self. Miss you guys last year.
And now we are coming up on their 30 year. Time flies.

DEFCON 2003 was one of the best things I've ever experienced in my life. What a culture. Boy would I love to do it again.

im not even working in the computer or software areas, i still want to go because there are such inspiring mindsets and technics to pick up, is it worth it to go there if im not there for work related stuff? cuz i need to travel from germany to vegas and its a big trip to plan atm

Defcon 9 participant here.....one of my best memories. That was before Defcon really blew up and became super popular.
This is a convention where you'd want to disable your mobile phone WIFI.. and Bluetooth... yes, disable BLUETOOTH.. actually just turn off your phone.
jslingrowd This is true of what you speak of... Disabling your phone altogether due to fake cell towers that are setup for traffic analysis. I personally would have a phone running a honeypot just to see what was going on.
Much more safe to pull the battery out, just saying lol
Don’t bring your phone at all. Leave it at home and have your phone calls forwarded to a throw away phone. If you have to call people with your number, just use a spoofer.

And now we are at a time where someone like me. 26 years old is getting active in a community I had only read about as a kid. Fascinating to see such amazing, intelligent and creative people building the future that I get to enjoy. Now it's my turn. What can I be apart of? An exciting question indeed.
It's really interesting that Keith Alexander spoke at Defcon right before the Snowden leaks happened.
Yeah it was a humiliating moment for the convention. Absolutely heartbreaking.
DEFCON looks like just the group of brilliant lovable misfits I've been looking for.

Frankly, it's scary, but perhaps thats the point to get you to not rely on security products, unless you take the time to fully understand there strengths and weaknesses.

Being in the tech space, I often feel pretty alienated by the general pro establishment belief system of a lot of my colleagues and being a libertarian myself I often don't fit in the a lot of techies.
Would love to be a part of defcon one year.

incredibly good documentary, I wish I could've gone this year.
I was interested in this, but my hearing is not 100% perfect. The background music masked the speakers to the point that I couldn't understand them. I gave up.

From OC but living in Tijuana Mexico now I remember DJ Hard Trance at Defcon 7 where I played at 12 pm and the main room was pack and had people from Canada give me props.My friend Trent and Noid book me twice and had a great time.I think the second time I DJ there was at Defcon 8 where I played Techno at 9pm, wasn't as packed as the frist time but it was cool.the 3rd time was in 2010 or 2011 not sure but Defcon is dope.I wanna give a shout to Noid and Trent that work for Defcon.
