    Just had a fresh oil spill on block paving, have put sand on should I clean while oil is still fresh or let it dry off first?

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  Před rokem

      The sooner you clean it off, the better. It might take a couple of try’s and there might even be a faint shadow left behind. But the sooner you try and clean it, the best chance you have of getting the best results.👍🏼

    Just an observation.. that must have been an expensive job surely? I note that each 5ltr can is £70 odd! Did you agree a price before hand not knowing exactly how much degreaser you would need? Looks like good stuff though and may end up getting some, I've just bought myself my first petrol pressure washer and going to add it as a service alongside my gardening work. Great videos 👍

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  Před rokem +1

      Thanks. Yes this was a very bad oil spill. It took a bit of experience and knowledge to judge how much oil remover I would need, but yes, I quoted and agreed a price before I started.👍🏼

    • @transformations1
      @transformations1 Před 2 lety +1

      hotwater wont help - its still aqueous vs oil. However, mixing hotwater with surfactant washing up liquid might work as creates an emulsion which can be washed away. Probably best thing right after the oil spill is just to add neat surfactant washing up liquid to start emulsifying the oil. By the way, thats what they do for oil spills on beaches etc and animal rescue - basically washing up liquid. The professional stuff
      A.E.Mackintosh Cleaning Services uses is just a more suitable precise surfactant for creating an emulsion with oil (I assume diesel, which is even more difficult) Hot water not going to do much since doesnt dissolve oil and the oil is liquid anyway at room temp. (unlike lets say spillage of fat - I have had this from barbecue residue fats spill on pavement - thats nasty to remove)

    You need to steam clean oil , heat on 150 to get rid of oil stains completely,not a bad result considering you just used cold water , u can hire a steam cleaner there fairly cheep if not Rutland pumps do the mazzoni firebox there about 2 grand good investment you will make that back after a few jobs we did

  • @markanders250
    @markanders250 Před 2 měsíci

    I specialized in removing oil stains. Pressure washing just makes it worse by driving the oil further into the paver. The correct way to remove oil from pavers is to use lacquer thinner or paint thinner. Drench the stain and use shop towels to soak it up. This forces the oil out of the paver. Then drench the pavers again and this time use a torch to burn off the thinner. The pavers should be stain free now. Been doing this for over 15 years.

  • @3flowdrainsandjettingservi284

    I use industrial strength degreaser it does a good job at a 1/4 of the price of what your using but ideally an hot washer would be far better as it actually draws the oil out of the blocks that stuff your using is ridiculously overpriced and to be fair its not really that good for the price
