StarCraft 2 GSL 2010 - the time when the build orders were weird! Today we'll talk about BitByBit - the most hilarious player who cheesed his way through GSL Code S in StarCraft 2 in 4 Terran vs Zerg games. StarCraft 2 bitbybit run was really amazing - and silly at the same time!

I love how the micro looks like slow motion compared to the Koreans or Clem today. that bane detonation was legendary
@@pinkfloyddwc that would be an epic chad move if he just used them to scout the opponents army, saw he had enough and troll detonated them lol
Yeah, StarCraft 2 got a lot harder than it used to be in 2010
I think the micro definitely looks worse but just wanted to say it being slower is partially because of the game being played on a slower speed also
compared to the koreans? It was Koreans in every game
I think he lagged. Didn't the feed lag a few seconds before it happened?
Oh man, I loved watching BitByBit. Not because he was good, but because I always knew what was coming, and I enjoyed seeing how everyone dealt with his all-ins.
This guy literally plays like "Oh you Zerg? I play Zerg too"
*Uses Worker as Ling wall and Marines as Roach*
Dude that failed baneling mine in the last game was fucking hilarious. Great content, as usual.
Thanks!
Moon was known for his ridiculous micro in wc3 but looked terrible in sc2, quite sad
2 marines walk into a Starcraft 2 event one of them asks
"wheres the counter?"
7:50 lmao 2 boiz at the front still carrying gas canisters, it's like the "drop everything WE'RE GOING TO WAR" moment from starship troopers. There's something inspirational about a couple of blue-collar space-forklift-drivers rushing off to give their lives to defend their home without a second thought.
Fruitdealer was like, i really hope you are satisfied for wasting my time (roll eyes).
man your video output is insane
This man single handedly got me into diamond in WoL
I got to masters with only 4 gating :)

Man, I never thought I'd have nostalgia for old maps, but seeing that old footage pulls on the memory heart strings.
nostalgia or disgust lmao those maps sucked
@@bladeorade12 ha, I wasn’t good enough at the time to tell what made good/bad maps.
More nostalgia for an earlier time (regardless of objective quality).
@@jimmya That's fair, I was a master zerg and the rush time was ridiculous lmao
i feel the same nostalgia lol
no idea how they compare to current maps tho
i was terrible at the game back then (and i'm still pretty bad lol) but I played most of my games then.
I thought metalopolis was the coolest looking map
He didn't invent anything, this build was around since 1999 lol.
"BitByBit might have made it further in GSL than me, but I know I know more about SC than he does" - Artosis
What a chad, always go for the SCVs pull. The boys gotta come help other homies xD
Can confirm, this strat carried me into plat 🤣🤣
i remembered artosis yelled "BIT BY BITTTTT" when all SCV are pulled to the zerg base.
Yeah! That's the quote I was expecting to hear. I can still hear it in my mind though :D
12:11 was amazingly painful to watch
Actually he's a genius, the simplest way to win high level games with big balls. As simple as it went! If you look and think with attention this is really incredible performance.
It was till it wasn't. He had to know people would catch on. Not a good strategy in a tournament setting like gsl. Overall highly flawed player.
No dude, it was an embarrassing performance.
That's why he's a meme, still great
Just going to say I'm loving your content. I followed a bit of Broodwar (I remember being a stork, bisu and jaedong fan) and stopped when SC2 came out. Then started following SC2 a bit out of curiosity exactly when serral started dominating. So I love all these early SC2 days - most of them are new to me. I also love your style - you have just the right balance of information and silliness. Keep at it and I'm looking forward for more. Thanks!
Thanks!
This is exactly how I feel!
The early days of sc2 were a true mixed bag, but they were a lot of fun. I actually watched tasteless' first casts with GOM back in the day, but forgot about it for a while, until about 2009. When sc2 came out, I immediately started watching Huskey and HD's beta casts, and when GSL started up I watched it almost religiously (which is mind-blowing when I realize the matches started at 3 or 4 am depending on DST)
Since the game was so new, some of the maps were absolutely stupid, and some of the builds were more wishful thinking than actual builds. But that could also lead to some truly hilarious moments.
Artosis hated him so much lol
thank you for these videos! very cool to learn about the history of sc2 and some of its old players
Thanks!
I think bits strad is pretty solid. His biggest mistakes in most of those lost games (atleast to me) seem to be a poor microing/extremely bad scouting. Especially where he got his whole army to be in the perfect spot for 200 banes lol.
Personally I really enjoy players actually trying to play differently, I mean if you had to watch 1000 games of pros just doing the meta you probably would die of boredom. Its like watching paint dry aggressively with high APM.
what a brilliant technique, using all of his scvs to tank the damage 🙌, its always just enough to win the fight
Great content! Subbed and looking forward to the next ones.
Thanks!
Love the channel, keep the lore flowing!
Thanks!
Just started watching your channel and im getting big nostalgia for the early SC2 scene. One question, where do you find replays of these old GSL's? Any website you go on specifically to find VODs?
I usually first check liquidpedia liquipedia.net/starcraft2/Global_StarCraft_II_League . If you open match details, they sometimes have YT icons with each map. Most famous matches should be mentioned there or at the bottom of the page. However, it's not always available because a lot of stuff from 2010-2013 was just lost or there's just no record on liquidwiki. In that case, I look for it on CZcams, trying to hit the keywords or dates on different channels (GOMTV sometimes names matches with numbers and dates instead of players' names for some weird reason). If that doesn't help, I just google anything that I can find on forums or older websites.
@@EsportsStoryteller GOMTV itself has uploaded a ton of the matches.
Here is all of the super tournaments 2010-2015:

Legend has it he now switched to two base allining
Please do a video on partings immortal sentry all in from HOTS when he ran through the tournament and literally told everyone what he was going to do. You should also do a top 5 builds or something, I want to sew the Korean 4gate in action!
what a throw back! glad to see haypro on there also. BitByBit was on a pro team too, which also mean he must of had obtain his gaming licsense through similar means, or at least I would like to think so, making his cheesey strat even more funny.
His team is Prime
Nice vid man, now I get why Tastesosis used to get so worked up about "puuuuling the boys", they must remember all this silly stuff hehe
When WoL came out that shit was so hype. I remember watching MLG switching between Smash Melee, Halo 3, and Sc2. Possibly the most hype era ever
oh man that baneling trap was such a tease
Back in the golden age of SC2 (and gaming tbh) when players experimented with builds and games werent completely solved
Yeah it was really fun to watch
@@Gubers Data-mining, calculator sites and apps, "add-ons", video-walkthroughs, TAS runs, mouse macros, etc. etc.
Eventually it will come full circle and people will remember what games are for, and start to challenge _themselves_ again - instead of letting the game play itself for them.
your channel underrated. i have missed a lot of sc2. thanks for this content
Thanks!
Its so funny seeing him win pro games with a tactic that wouldn't even get you out of Platinum today :DD
rush distance on old sc2 maps were so insane
Wrong, i stopped playing SC for many years, came back and did only scv pool with marines, and got diamond, i could even get master If i could micro properly, but my micro is terrible
I literally went 12 pool zergling from bronze to diamond in like 2 days while only really using the mouse. That was only a year or so ago.
Cheesy well done builds still do win a absolute ton of games. Being good at macro and micro is what you need but if you can somehow be so good at micro you can out micro any enemy player and win. Its just a better grind, but its a huge risk/reward scenario.
You can get to masters with a build for each race SC2 has literally no player base
@@frogfinance4605 theres like 10k games going at any moment, so the playerbase is still huge, its bigger than AOEIV for example.
oh god i havent thought about haypro since like 2011 or so
this proves that workers are the strongest unit in starcraft 2
Love the sc2 focus! SC2 is one of my favorite games!
Thanks! It'll be the primarly game on the channel, even when I add a bit of WC3 and SC1
10:23 - "despite throwing the first game, Moon..."
err... "THROWING" ??
Man, .... Moon got STOMPED !!! :D
Well... He should've won :D
I have really enjoyed these! subd!
Thanks!
YAY pull the boiz SCV are da real MVP. Also you gotta love how all the opponents have this :"you gotta be shitting me this is what i lose to ?" face
This is actually really painful to lose to stuff like this xD
Honestly, that second game between BitByBit and Moon, BBB should have WON...
He just mis-microed at the end at Moon's base, not managing to focus down the baneling eggs on time...
I'm pretty sure that he mis-clicked or something...
This is so funny LMAO I think BitByBit is actually really smart.
With normal build order, normal player will certainly lose to pros. But with this, u at least have a chance and it worked really well lol
True!
? you have 0 iq
Man terran had some STRONG all ins in wings of liberty, I completely forgot haha
Really love the nostalgia from sc2 history! will you do makarax aswell?
Thanks! I might do him a bit later, currently doing some HotS era stories :)
When i see these old maps like steppes of war and scrap station i get nostalgic

love the frequent uploads ♥️ made it my nightly routine to watch one of your videos!
some video ideas if they're worth anything;
- video about destinysc2 / elky and his poker career / special and his past bw history
I'll do special relatively soon, I've recently joined PSISTORM and I'm hoping to get an interview from him :)
Seeing bases without any defenses in the mineral lines now feels like watching bronze league, just shows how the level of the average SC Player went up.
Was thinking the same thing those guys where SC 2 pros playing top 1% GM and now that looks legit like plat 1 or Dia 3 league NA lmao 🤣
Heypro could have easily won game 2. He should have never sent his main drones into the defense, and just saced his 2 base while building defense in the main. Then it would be each player on one base but BitByBit having basically no SCVs.
This was fun.. like the content
Thanks!
I really liked this video, more like this please!
Thanks!
Cool story bro😀
these games looks like my games, everything seems so slow hahah
Didn't change his play style over the next YEAR? I love this guy, rofl.

@@EsportsStoryteller Nice one man! Let's see it!
I am loving all this nostalgia reporting
OK, this is one of those moments where I feel totally LOST, despite having been present right there and then from the start, ever since EARLY BETA...
I honestly have no recollection at all about any such cheesy plays, especially such that even became a MEME, by BitByBit.
The only player who became somewhat of a MEME in those early days was MarineKing, who became famous for, you guessed it, very precise and cheesy M+M+M massing plays.
Honestly, just WHEN did all this take place? There was a brief period where I wasn't following the game and its pro-scene, which was between mid-2012 and the release of HotS.
Could THAT be the moment when all this happened?
But then again, it still doesn't make sense, because at that point in time, such flimsy cheeses should have LONG been figured out and trumped.
Actually, to think about it, they should have theoretically already been discovered AND beaten in Beta...
It was 2010-2011
@@EsportsStoryteller strange how I don't remember this AT ALL... :O

Old Blizzard is dead
the chad face made me laugh :D. that's a rare occurrence :P
Scrap station is such a awesome map!
This was my favorite time of SC2 before they *forced* every game to be 40 min macro based games.
I find macro to be fascinating as well
I remember watching that baneling detonation live. It's still such a facepalm moment...
Watching those old replays just show how people good now compared to then. There is almost no micro compared to current pro stage. Their micro back then looks like avg. plat player now :D
yeah :D
I didn't even know about this player. Shame on me.
Thanks for an informative video :)
Have you hear from Slayer boxer? This was his strategy.
WOW love the starcraft stories.. I was was subbed to TheScore Esports but since they changed host they stopped talking about starcraft or any esports older than 3-5 years. Kinda sad.
I watch them too but it seems they mostly focus on VALORANT and RIOT nowadays, sometimes a bit of CS:GO
the steppes of war map should have been called, steppes of zerg tears
Aw hell yea! I was hoping this guy would get more exposure for this cheesy builds and Artosis chanting his name

I got masters twice within 55 games 6 pooling.
I got to diamond as zerg ez but this was around the time terrans wouldn't stop ramp bunker rushing or protoss 4-8 gayting so enough was enough
