    What people don’t tell you is yeah it cost almost 18k to swap to a hell cat motor but once you take out ur 392 and the trans you are able to sell that for about 7-8k$ so I’m reality it’s a 10k$ swap and that if you buy the hell cat motor new .
    I’m currently swapping mine with a 2021 used hell cat motor with 2k miles purchasing the motor along with the new ecu and heat exchanger for 10k$
    Labor 1500$
    Once my 392 motor and tranny is sold I’ll be looking at a total of 4-5k $ total in the swap

    • @ryanc2927
      @ryanc2927 Před 2 lety +2

      The transmission is nowhere near 7-8k resale - more like acouple thousand. You’re way off. Furthermore the hp70 transmission can take 7lbs boost using the proper bypass valves which aren’t even necessary on the v8. But on a v6 swap you’ll risk the torque conversion immediately to the transmission or differential. Something tells me you probably have a v6 and all these #s you’re configuring are fictional #s...

    Basically what you have to do if buy a hellcat and transfer everything to your V6. People here on CZcams have bought wrecked Hellcats with fully functional engines, trans and diff, and transferred all to their V6s (there’s even a guy who took it a step further and swap a manual trans from a challenger into a Charger). It’s not cheap, but in the long road is way cheaper than buying a hellcat

      On god

    • @ryanc2927
      @ryanc2927 Před 2 lety

      The transmission will slip immediately. The torque conversion is an issue. Also a v6 needs a bypass valve for the throttle he said. My friend has a jeep Srt w 60k miles and his front diff is bad somehow. Even so it’s meant to be a rear wheel drive car...a v6 is barely all wheel drive. Something tells me it wouldn’t be able to take that power even w the proper electronic harnesses etc etc. think about why the hellcat has so many coolant reservoirs as well. The heat from the supercharger mounted on top of the manifold is one.

    • @ryanc2927
      @ryanc2927 Před 2 lety +1

      I’m converting my 2020 Jeep srt to be pro charged right now to decrease the heat soak issues common w hellcats (found one for $3500 online auction). The piston material is different than a hellcats however. It’s possible if I add too much power that that is an issue let alone all these other potential problems mentioned in the video. I’m not too worried because I have a good connection w my shop owner, but when thinking of upgrading to a trackhawk/hellcat I would def consider this video...and I’m absolutely fortunate I didn’t drop at least another 30 k to buy one to some “stealership” asking another 30k above msrp - in lieu of what was said here.

      @TonyTheTruckGuy Před 2 lety +2

      @@ryanc2927 Well of course the V6 trans would slip right away that’s why I said get a drivetrain out of a hellcat lol. • @TeW33zy
    @TeW33zy Před rokem

    Not to mention in order to get traction on the 706hp you need the OEM Widebody add on through Dodge Direct Connection which is another $2300 per SRT Rim, $4k Widebody kit, $1250 wide body parts painted and blended to your car, Widebody emblems $650, 305 Michelin Z0 Race tires $2800, new Tire Sensors per tire $165 x4, Widebody spoiler $1300 plus tax and labor equals about $17-20k . If you have any decal wrap it has to be removed $600 and car needs to be sanded, paint correction and buffed w/ceramic coating to protect the Widebody $2,000 + tax. That doesn’t include engine cleaning, any work interior etc. Once you start doing all this your car will look very nice on exterior but your interior will be not so good so u will instantly get the internals cleaned, shampooed, new rugs etc that’s about $1,000. I got all new red alcatara seats front and back with the hellcat on it as my car had a weird smell when I bought it, people don’t be clean before they get in they car and it gets in the alcatara seats and shampoo doesn’t work passed 2 weeks it comes back so I got it replaced $7,000. I got Demon steering wheel $1300, new gas pedals being the originals were worn out bad from dirt and previous owner $800. New SRT rugs $580. Out the door I paid over $33,000 to get my car to a place it needed to be, that’s not including your R/T to Hellcat, simply add $30-40k to that smh. That’s like brand new slim body. U still need to pay the $$17k-20k to convert to Widebody through dodge direct connection regardless. Then add on Exhuast and mods. It’s expensive no matter which way you cut it.

    Would it be better to install a Hellcat engine or rebuild the 6.4 top and bottom end? My opinion of the Hellcat engine is that it has weak internals wristpins and piston failure and in the end your output is far less than a supercharged 6.4 stoked to 426. I agree that is best to just get a Hellcat if you are happy with stock Horsepower but if you want to get into the 1200 HP range you need to go though the engine and trans anyway.

    It's easy to do especially with a salvage hellcat and a bit of wrenching experience , the magnum,charger,challenger,300c are all the same car and the jeep is a durango underneath thats how dodge has saved money for years they are like legos for the most part , the parts are literally bolt in across the entire line with very few exceptions on a few brackets and ground studs, no reason you can't take a for example magnum or a 2014 durango and make it a hellcat.

Dodge needs to step up there game and make the Challenger lighter and smaller or introduce the Barracuda which is the same size and weight like the other cars I mentioned.

    "Is it worth doing the swap?"
    Well how I see it, it all depends on what the vehicle is too, if you're talking about 392 or Hellcat Swapping a Dodge Charger or Challenger, in my opinion it's not worth it at all, because they already make Dodge Chargers and Challengers with those specific engines and trims from the factory, you may as well save your money and trade
    But if we're talking about Hellcat or 392 Swapping a Chrysler 300, or a Jeep Gladiator, or even in something older like a Dodge Magnum, yes, it's totally worth it! Because Chrysler themselves never offered those cars with those engines from their factory assembly plants, so it makes them very unique, and alot more special

    No he is false about the estimate conversion cost being around 22k give or take, that is false. We did the numbers because my brother actually went and did it and got a final estimate cost not including labor. The cost for parts were $32,790.44. Labor was by the hour and they quoted $7,890.00 Out the door they said a even $40k they will accept. Giving him a $1,000 discount. My brother got them to come down from $6,890.00 to $6,000. My brother thought it was still to high so my brother pulled the someone else would do the labor for $5,000 and if he would match it and he said absolutely NOT. He told my brother he is free to get the parts and they would tow the car to that shop for free, as long as he paid
    $32,790.00 he would have his guy tow it free and of course my brother was lying soo. Then, my brother took the parts list to another dealer and they returned 5 days later with a quote of $29,458.00. That's $3,000 savings right, well not so fast. They would charge $9,500.00 in labor and they would not budge at all. Not a single $1. So we tried to buy parts from store 2 and have store #1 do the install, they weren't having it. We went back to store #2 and asked why they parts were $3000 cheaper and they said they know people and made some calls to the owner of the shop and asked for some deals etc. However we quickly learned later in fact the parts cam out to be $32,012 and he took $3,000 off to appear like my brother was getting a deal but he added it to the labor cost so we was not getting a deal. So he went back to store #1 as they had more professional store front and master mechanics who build cars for a living vs store #2 who fixes cars. Store #1 was better. He did tell my brother once it's all installed there's a DO NOT do list. Literally said no long periods of driving, can't take it out of state on long drives, needs to rest after aggressive pulls etc. At the bottom of the list it said:
    WARNING ⚠️
    WE will tune it to produce 50% of what a hellcats potential is until the owner gets upgraded differentials, drive shaft, transmission and all this other stiff that was like another $15k. My brother said I'll be out of like 55k that's at that point I could of just bought a real hellcat. He abandoned that project and 1 year later he financed himself a 2017 Srt Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
