  • We disassemble an original set of GM 1981 Camaro Tail Lights from our Camaro Project FastTimes, a tribute car to the Fast Times at Ridgemont High movie. As we prepare to restore the tail lights, we document all the parts that will need replacing and come up with a game plan for restoring them
    Also if anyone has any leads on an NOS LH 78-81 Outer Body Gasket, I'm looking for one, GM part # 5969325

    This is a video from 2021, and I almost have the housings restored, but I'm looking for an NOS LH 78-81 Outer Body Gasket, I'm looking for, GM part # 5969325. I have the right side, but need the left. I have the repros, but they are very stiff. I haven't tried soaking them in Simple Green or setting them in the sun. Thanks for stopping by, remember to subscribe and follow the build. To Be Continued......

      @DKz Garage Nice, I have an older Canon Camcorder, I think it's a vixia hf600. The wide angle lenses are cheap and that's good for grinding and welding. I have been wanting an m50 for just speaking parts. Still a little pricey though

    hey Russ, nice to see a new video. Weird how that gasket cuts across the corner like that. I have a back up light socket that needs replacing on my 87 firebird. the original has 3 wires. I bought a new one but it only has 2 wires. I'm trying to figure out if i got the wrong one or what. Keep that in mind if you need to replace any of them.

    • @DoubleRRestorations
      @DoubleRRestorations  Před 2 lety

    • @DoubleRRestorations
      @DoubleRRestorations  Před rokem

      Yep, got sidetracked on a project my daughter bought. I'm actually working on finishing these. Best advice I can give is when you get your new gaskets, let them sit in the warm sun, install them on the old lenses and let them sit awhile. They will take shape. The outer body gaskets are a mess, straight out of the box.

    there are many years I stay away from because of stuff like that.. turns a weekend project in to a year long struggle... and $500 more than you wanted to spend... I dont think those tail lights are meant to come apart... well, at least 20 years ago they didnt sell a single thing for them.... i bought A 79 z28 in 2002 and had to get rid of it.. it was yellow with a black interior. it had a 1972 454 in it... i pulled the engine and sold the car.. guy gave me $500 for the interior a day after i listed it on craigslist.. rear spring perches were rusted through the floor.... my dad warned me about that..

      Thank Chris, yes I don't think these cars were made to last. I've almost got everything I need to restore them. The good news is once the car once restored will be kept inside. That should help on saving some of the plastics. I always enjoy your channel, thanks for stopping by.
