I have several DR-10L recorders for doing video work involving speakers and demonstrators. It is the best solution there is. It solved so many problems I had previously with actor sound recording. This new version has several nice new features that will greatly help video producers. The DR-10L is a great product.
For best audio quality, is it best to keep the limiter off? Also, why is it that I cannot get 0 db audio files with this recorder? For example, I vlog with my GoPro and then audio sync in premiere pro with the track that I record at the same time using the DR-10L. The GoPro audio is obviously inferior to this recorder which is why I sync the audio. However, the audio levels are nice and louder on the GoPro compared to this recorder, even after both of them are treated with the same audio effects (normalizing all peaks to 0 db and using a rvox pluggin preset called "ball game sports cast"? The audio will only get so loud and never wants to go about -3 db in my editing software.
What would be the best settings to use if I were to record with two of these recorders concurrently, podcast-style, attached to two different people at an arms length apart?

Sometimes I use my drone to record me walking and talking, and I would use an audio recorder like this and sync the audio in post with a clap. However, my concern with this is that the prop noise from my drone will get picked up in the recording. Would the base model DR-10L be better for me since I can manually adjust the gain with that, just enough to pickup on my voice but not the propellers?
Hello, Jason! Fantastic question! I would recommend the DR-10L Pro for your needs. If you edit the audio in post-production after recording in 32-bit float, you'll have 1.) the latest and greatest technology in audio recording, and 2.) the ability to adjust the gain in a seamless way that will allow for you to reduce any unwanted noise that may bleed over into the recording.
The TM-10L microphone that comes with the recorder is a fairly directional microphone - meaning it won't pick up easily on sound not directed at the actual microphone capsule.
In addition to all that, the DR-10L Pro comes with the RX Elements software bundle from Izotope. This suite of programs is designed specifically for audio repair and removing background noises - easily remove coughs, wind roars, even ambient background sounds that drone through the entire recording.

Hello! If you're getting the "NO CARD" message on your DR-10L Pro there are a few troubleshooting tips to start with.
1.) Double check that the card has been inserted correctly and that it's all the way in the slot.
2.) Try a different card and see if you get the same message, or if the unit will allow you to format it.
Does Dr-10l and x8 work with other timecode like tentacle sync or deity pro.
Hello, Adrian! The DR-10L Pro and Portacapture X6/X8 can sync timecode exclusively with Atomos products.
Is it possible to actually hear and monitor the audio over Bluetooth via the app? I need a way of confirming the audio sounds okay.
Hello! Audio monitoring via Bluetooth is not a supported feature. However, realtime waveform monitoring is possible. While this won't allow you to actually hear the audio, it will possible to view whether the recording is peaking or even too quiet.
Can you do Timecode and monitoring from the app at the same time?

I updated my Tascam dr40 to firmware 2021 2.51 thinking about improving the equipment and now when I activate recording with an external or dual microphone it turns off. It does not receive previous firmware, do you know any solution?

Hello! At this time there isn't a plan to produce this recorder in white. However, it's small size makes the DR-10L Pro easy to conceal and the microphone can be replaced with the TM-10LW - which is the white version of the included lav mic.
Is there LINE-Out?
This is a self-contained recorder not meant to be tethered to an external device with a line out. However, there is a headphone output on the side of the unit that can be used this way.
