I really love these videos where you feature your favorites. I just strung up with ALU Power Flouro as I wanted the benefits of a poly but a little more arm friendly. 2 hours on it and love it so far. Cheers to you and your colleagues. Love these videos!!!

Try Quadrotwist by Ytex! Spin monster and super comfortable (I have TE and a slight tear in my labrum) and it’s been a game changer for me. I’m a 4.0 player, that plays a couple times a week with an all court game. I like to hit big off the forehand wing and come to net often. Hope this helps!

Hey guys, first I want to say, I love your reviews! They’re thorough, without a lot of fluff! I’ll also say I purchase (almost) all my stringing supplies from TW! I am super surprised that Ytex quadrotwist is not on your list. Of course I do understand that there are thousands of strings and that they all can’t make the list. But that quadrotwist is a spin monster and the comfort is next level compared to other co-poly’s I’ve tested. Cheers and keep up the great work!!!

Indirectly related to this video-I often hear reviewers say that a particular string lasted 3-4 weeks. It doesn’t mean much unless the tester also adds how much they play during such a stretch. Since tennis is their profession, I assume virtually every tester plays much more than I do. Realizing there are other factors to consider, this missing detail is likely one of the biggest. Please consider adding it to future reviews-maybe as “hours of play.” Thanks...

1.20mm black Cyclone at 50 lbs. is awesome. I use 1.25mm Hyper-G in my open-pattern racquet (Wilson Burn 100S) with 4g rough crosses, great control setup. But for feel and spin in a 16x19 100 sq in, the 1.20 cyclone is sweet.

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  Před 4 lety +1

We have tried the 18 gauge, but it was on some 18x20 string patterns with smaller headsizes, such as the Prince Phantom 93P 18x20, and Dunlop CX 200 Tour 18x20. It lasted us a decent amount of time in those racquets, somewhere around 15 hours of play. That said we haven't tried it much on more open patterned racquets, or bigger headsize, which we would likely break it sooner. Durability is hard to estimate sometimes, based on different playing styles, swing speeds, etc. Troy, TW

I've strung over 7,000 racquets and wanted to give a quick heads up about shaped string. Make sure the string is not spun at all during the stringing process or it could significantly impact the snapback Troy is talking about at the beginning. That being said, a standard circular string will have the least amount of string on string contact and maximize the snapback. As the strings age and cut into each other, the snapback will decrease. The snapback is THE key to topspin assuming you are hitting with a more modern stroke. That being said, don't be fooled by fancy shapes that "grip" the ball. This added grip will reduce the snapback and result in less spin. Rough strings fall in to this category and are something I would never recommend (use normal RPM Blast). Yes, I know Fed uses it in his mains but that's a hybrid combination with gut so let's leave that out of the equation for right now.
For the typical player, the key is finding a string that doesn't change behavior as time goes on since most people don't string regularly. For the tournament player, the key is finding a string that doesn't kill your arm but doesn't break too quick.
All that being said, i'm very surprised that 4G or Luxilon ALU are not on this list. Wilson products are expensive but worth the extra penny as they provide a comfortable, durable string.

I think that trying either Hyper-G or Hyper-G Soft would be a good option. Also, not for sure what gauge you are using with the Confidential, but the thinner you go, you should notice a little more elasticity and bite on the ball. So maybe a 17 or 18 gauge could be worth a try. Would you go for 16 or 17 gauge on these?

1.25 mm is our favorite gauge, which can be labeled differently for certain brands. Troy, TW

Tennis Warehouse how is spin potential affected when going to higher gauges (17-19g)? Thinner string seems to open up string patterns and hopefully spin but would the sharpness or size of the edges create less spin for thinner strings?

Are any of these strings arm friendly? I used a poly before and suffered very painful forearm pain

I primarily use synthetic gut due to arm issues. Babolat SpiralTek has good spin properties and is arm-friendly and durable, as well as inexpensive. Give it a try.

RPM Blast Rough plays fairly soft. If you are looking for a softer feeling poly, I would consider ISOSPEED Cream, Volkl V-Star, or Volkl Cyclone Tour. You might also consider a hybrid, like Volkl Psycho. Troy, TW

Suffered a golfers elbow playing with alu power. Moved to a combination of Hyper g + tour bite and also Natural (luxilon or babolat vs team) + hyper g. After trying 10 different strings, nothing beats these 2 combos.

Tennis Files hyper g in mains and tour bite in crosses. You can put natural in mains also but that is expensive. Regards.

Ultra Cable or nothing. Every pure poly player looking for spin switches to it after it goes in their racquet.

    • @seanharmon1

talon229 It’s really great immediately off the stringer and will last that way for the next couple days. You’ll notice a change in the way it plays after it settles in. Most people really like it after the initial settle in period. It will remain this way for a couple weeks. You’ll start to notice a mushy feeling around the 4-5 week mark. It’s also a very durable string that doesn’t tax your arm. It’s the Holy Grail for spinny poly strings. You won’t be disappointed. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was in a hybrid setup with gut mains. If you’re experimenting with gut hybrids, stick with Luxilon as the cross string.

I’m in south GA so the humidity eats gut up too quickly. I like Hyper G but it’s dies too quickly. I moved to BH Silver 7 Tour and liked it in my Prince Textreme Tour 95s but I’ve switched to Volkl PB 10 Mids and I’m trying 5-6 strings before I get a reel or two. I hope this is the one because it will look great in the Volkls. lol

talon229 Hyper G is terrible compared to Ultra Cable in my opinion. It gives off a “plastic” feel. Ultra Cable isn’t a touchy feely string, but you’ll get tons of drop on the ball. Don’t be surprised if you dump the first few groundstrokes in the net. Just launch a little higher and watch it dive bomb. Enjoy!
