  • In this video, Coach Jerod and I try out the Weiss Canon Ultra Cable Tennis Strings that customers have been bringing in. We start by introducing the viewers to these strings, explaining their features and benefits. Next, we talk about the process of stringing a tennis racquet with the Weiss Canon Ultra Cable strings, providing some insight and a warning as it is sharp. We take to the court to test the performance of the strings. We hit various shots discussing the feel, control, and power generated by the strings. We also compare them to other popular tennis strings on the market. Finally, we conclude the video by sharing our overall thoughts and recommendations on the Weiss Canon Ultra Cable Tennis Strings.
Thank you Coach Jerod as always.

I have been using this string in five different racquets, from a 70 RA Babolat Pure Drive to a 58 RA Prince Phantom 97P, also in my Head Youtek Prestige Mid (89.5 sq in), for example. I like this string in all of the racquets I have used it in. Small head 18x20 sticks profit from this string's massive spin potential and it makes 100 sq in 16x19 racquets total spin monsters. All the wile protecting the old elbow with it's low stiffness (174.9 lb/in, according to TW-U).
I like it so much I buy it by the reel, now 👍

@Tennisspin I used to use weiscannon, preferred thir mosquito bite string - but only comes in 1.18mm - does die quickly, the ultra cable is very sin orientated - however it has terrible tension maintenance - dies faster than any other string ive used - 5hrs, the black5edge is very good - lasts longer than ultracable - also the scorpion string = really liked it find that to be soft and better control and feel than yonex poly tour pro

I switched from Confidential to big hitter silver 7, how would weiss cannon compare to these? I play with the headspeed Pro 18x20 and looking for a little bit more spin without switching to a new racket, I already have my tension down to 46.

I am used to hyperg cyclone and tour bite. I string my 16 gauge at 46. What tension do you recommend for this one?

Can you try some of the kirschbaum range of strings? Maybe the max power or max power rough. Have you used msv strings before?

A couple days ago you did my racquet (ProKennex Black Ace 105), today you did my string. Awesome.

I confirm their boring round gray string called Weiss Cannon Silverstring is a great one.

I often got this string to snap prematurely on the gromets, which is weird.

If the stringer is not careful, he can slice his fingers stringing this string. There is no point in using a full bed of Ultra Cable. Use it on the mains with a rounded slick co-poly on the crosses and you'll get the topspin you want while saving a little money. There has not been a really convincing study actually showing one gets more spin out of this string as compared to a thin gauge rounded co-poly for example... Shaped strings seem to be more of a marketing effort than a real performance enhancing thing... 3,4,5,6,7 and 8 sided strings are more expensive and do not really objectively demonstrate any added benefit in comparison to standard slick co-polys. Spin is mainly created by the snap back ability of the string, not the shape of it...

There is a study using controlled testing in a lab from tennis warehouse and this string is #1 of all strings.

If it were such a wonderful string adding so much benefit to one's spin game, pros and ITF players would rush to use it. They don't. Unless one has played extensively with the string, one cannot judge from a "lab test". It is also very stiff and loses tension fast. A far cry from Luxilon strings to be honest.@@peterstein1169
