I guess it’s specific to young ballers who are trying to hone their craft, bc you need to develop a jump shot, handles, and athleticism to do this… but every guard should be doing that. That’s why I used to love shooting 3’s because a lot of people didn’t know I had a crossover package. And it brings out the defense more to not crowd the lane and hopefully your team is moving around as well because you’ll have passing options

He is completely accurate on this. If you can consistently drain outside shot, especially threes, you can own your defender if you have any quickness at all. I used to do this same thing. If they perchance happen to be able to slide someone over to defend you after you beat the first guy, there is always someone open. It’s how a great point guard breaks down a defense.
I remembered the first time I dunked at a 24hr fitness. I walked into an empty court, picked up the ball and jumped off one foot to dunk on the side goal All sudden I hear these two little kids go “Daaaaamn” they were in corner and I didn’t see them at first 😅 I felt like a mf superhero 😂

They will sag on you until you force them to fear the jump shot. It’s even worse when you are closer to game point. Me on the other hand I would never sag because I play defense fundamentally strongly and I’ll try to suffocate my guy. I’ll try to force the charge and be careful about the spin. Love this tho. It’s great to see the point driven in. This is why Kobe and MJ were so dominant. They could shoot the contested 3s but equally they could blow by and dunk on your defenders. Curry is kinda similar but he just has to be a bit crafty since he’s smaller and can’t dunk as emphatically but the principal is the same his shooting opens up his inside offense
really nice. You also have excellent cardio to keep up that pressure. I used to try and fake them out pre game. Nail 4 or 5 straight jumpers right before the game starts, first play of the game run off a screen like you're looking for that same shot, pump fake and fly in for an easy layup but I like your approach too.
