- Breaking down every diss and reference on Kendrick's "Not Like Us," a catchier version of the allegations he first leveled at Drake on "Meet the Grahams", and has hit number one on the charts. Could it be the nail in the coffin on this historic beef?
follow omarabdelhmd
For now, Kendrick can rejoice and hold his head high after issuing the knockout blow of the battle on Saturday (May 4) with “Not Like Us,” topping streaming charts on Spotify and Apple and already making its way into the heart of pop culture. Meanwhile, his adversary Drake is left to ponder his next move, after seemingly dismissing the lyrical combat in what was likely his last song of the battle, Sunday’s “The Heart Pt. 6.”
As he weighs his future, Drake may have to decide which route he wants to go when finishing his story. After receiving harsh criticism for For All the Dogs, he dashed into the studio because The Culture demanded more rap songs. That birthed the project’s Scary Hours Edition, featuring some of his best rapping to date. Though hip-hop purists applauded his efforts, not everyone clapped for him, as they awaited his demise and later rebuked him after Kendrick’s demolition derby. - Zábava
if u fw the breakdowns, would appreciate a sub, hitting 100k before I graduate has always been a goal of mine and I got three weeks left🤞Let me know what I missed down below
Absolutely love it, but knew it reminded me of something. 50cent - Not like me

@pearlfountain 1st time watching! I just wish this was longer 😩
so you made a mistake. teenage fever is not in aminor. its in a flat minor or g sharp minor
I think the "I see dead people" also refers to him seeing drakes ghostwriters
🤣🤣genius
Could be
That is the best!
i was thinking of him talking abt xxxtentacion
That makes so much sense. He saw the ghost writers all over that last track, drake can’t even write a line without ghostly writers.
The "A Minor" line gets even funnier if you know music theory.
The A Minor scale has no flats or sharps, so on the piano it's all white keys.
The song bopppppss but truthfully, this is the only hard bar and scathing punchline in this entire song as a diss record. It’s a good bop but he’s not saying much and def not good as a scathing diss track that hurts Drake by barring him to death but that A minor bar is genuinely genius… though I thought drake rebuttaled and flipped it perfectly which earns a lot of respect for me as a huge fan of battle rap, it is crucial that you rebuttal your opponent’s hardest hits and he did it masterfully 👏🏽
“Easy-Duz-It (reference for Like That)
You mentioning A minor,
But niggas gotta B sharp & tell fans “who was it?”
You thought you left D flat but D major,
I’ll slit your throat with the razor and do Rick Ross like the one flight from Malaysia”
@@nerakar6562it doesn’t much much effort to find many instances where Drake was weird with minors. It’s an open secret drake keeps the company of minors and communicates with many.
@@nerakar6562B sharp doesnt exist lolol
@@nerakar6562Drake’s rebuttal of the line was awful. B Sharp doesn’t exist, unless he’s intentionally referencing the Simpsons which would be kind of clown behavior and definitely not a great response to being called a groomer lol
nah
My bf spent so long explaining this drama to me that now IM invested 😭
He a real one for that. Treat him right
My metalhead bf is even invested 😫
Game is game
😂😂my boyfriend just thinks its all funny, especially the n**** bum part in the first song. I keep him updated for suuuuure
You must be white 😂
Kendrick smart asf, every time I see ovo now I hear “Ovhoe” in my head
I can believe he was an A student😅
Every time I read ovo I think of Kendrick saying “other vaginal option”
Genius branding honestly. It’s like a pr bomb.
just like "put it together, I rock hoes, y'all rock fellas"
I think that was the idea... 😆
I always thought that certified lover boy album cover was weird…you not hiding kids but made a album cover with several pregnant emojis all over it
One of the many contradictions.
I remember pointing ts to someone on twitter.. they thought I was just being biased and finding a reason to hate on him. I wonder where that mf is now
yh but why would he do that
A lover boy is a man who seduces young girls and women and tricks them in to sex trafficking. The guys from the first Taken movie at the airport are “lover boys”. Google the term. You’ll find federal documents talking about the term and its relation to trafficking.
It’s also a reference to him being a pimp. A lover boy is a type of pimp, hence the cover.
I thought I love rap but this is straight up Shakespearean poetry holy shit, I have new found respect and admiration.
Lupe Fiasco is the next stop on the line. WAV files is incredible.
Rap = Rhythm And Poetry.
Its how hip hop is supposed to BE
absolutely love the way this breakdown is formatted. fast-paced, no repetition, catches every single dig, perfect
Except cell block one, it’s just jail homie
The “I see dead people” is a shot at drake using ghost writers
Agreed.
a minor also all white keys lmaooo is wild all these double and triple meanings
And Drake said something about B Sharp in heart p6..there ain’t no b sharp it’s just C, and the key of C is the same notes as A Minor 🤣🤣 you can tell Drake wrote that one
Pretty sure that's just a coincidence, lol
😂😂damn didn't know that. Dot is wild😂
@@koolaidsalad Nah you got it mixed up same notes, different scale.
@@QuasarTheVoyager yeah. Read it again
Not Like Us is on pace to debut at #1 with only 5 days of sales and streams, and it's not even close.
Drake's entire thing is that he has the biggest numbers, and Kendrick still won.
except in order for kendrick to get #1 he had to talk about drake so in a way drake still gave kendrick a #1
@@notoriousp.o.g.9560 Drake couldn't do it himself, every song he releases is less and less popular now. Truth is they're not even good to begin with
@@davidaugustofc2574 he’s had a lot go to top five in just the past three years it was six months ago now that fps went #1
@@notoriousp.o.g.9560 You can easily flip that and say First Person Shooter only hit #1 because he talked about Kendrick. It was in a pretty dead heat with the Yeat song.
@@mariokarter13 i don’t think drake himself even mentioned kendrick it was cole
Shawn Michaels rival being Canadian flew over my head completely! Great breakdown man
I missed the Shawn Michaels shit too that was nuty
Agreed bro
I didn't even think about the “straighten your posture” bar. I think you're the first person Ive seen call attention to it.
That’s was 🥶
@@trace891 Nah out of all the lines that one seemed in poor taste to me.
lol pusha said that man is sick sick sick
@@chiripaxaHey, Drake ended up trying to make fun of him for being molested, which never happened, but that's way worse. Lol
That has nothing at all to do with stranger things, yall reaching hard af. Genius is wrong pretty frequently with lyrics.
The John Stockton line does refer to Karl Malone and the fact that he is a paedophile, but also Drake is a friend of Karl Malone and they posted a pic together last year, so it cuts a lot deeper than a simple Malone reference.
Karl "post" malone
Drake and Malone are also neighbors
If he was talking about Malone then he would have mentioned Karl Malone! 🤦🏿♂️
@@professorxaviour3649 That's not how slick references work
Bro that went way over my head , fckn Kendrick is a G
Damn...Kendrick is one talented rapper!
That's an understatement it's been years since to pimp a butterfly and I'm still finding different things that went over my head
@@ashtonndlovu9470 REAL Talk!🔥🔥👏👏
the layers are absolutely insane
Also the way he says minooooooooooooooor is a reference to when Drake says the thing about his kid being davefreeeeeeeeees
The A Minor scale has no flats or sharps. On a piano it's only the white keys.
this is what i was looking for
I think it’s also a reference on how Drake used to hold out the last word of some of his punchlines 💯
Missed another layer of the sweetchin music won’t pass the aux/ox
Ox is prison slang for a blade, they used to mark pdf with a scar to identify them,he saying I’m gonna mark this one and i won’t pass it off as well
And to add on to the Brett hart aspect his nickname is the hitman drake is a hitmaker and Brett lost his belt to Shawn Michaels against his will in the Montreal screw job
Next level rapping
Also Shawn Michaels was famous for using a drug beginning with ox but I can’t remember what its called 😂 could be wrong but I swear I heard this somewhere, my bad in advance if I’m talking outta my ass
Oxycodone ?@@JJBrown258
nah yall just adding to what the man saying trying to fill in blanks that aren't even there
@@airbornejay4962 that’s your opinion what makes his understanding more valid then mine? Just because you don’t have the knowledge to catch all the references of the bar doenst mean it’s not true..is Brett hart Canadian? Was his nickname the hit man? Is ox slang for blade,is Kendrick not accusing him of being a pdf, did pdf’s not get cut in prison once upon a time..stop me when I’ve said something false..
@@greengomarx1248 1000% agree man.. airborne sounds like a massive drizzy fan.. so much shit went over my head and I’m a massive kdot fan, mainly bcos of his word play and lyrics.. but yeah.. I agree brother 🤙🏾
I think the "I see dead people" line also is because in the sixth sense (sorry this is a spoiler to those who haven't seen the movie) the dude the kid is hanging out with ends up being dead the whole time but he isn't aware that he's dead, which could also mean that Drake is already "dead" due to one of the previous diss tracks (the kill shot was probably meet the grahams). This is also saying that any comeback Drake comes out with will be irrelevant because he's already "dead."
ive never listened to Kendrick or Drake before but i had to for the beef. Kendrick is actually really good, his lyrics are next level smart. I'll need to listen to some of his other stuff cz he might genuinely be up there as one of the best
if you do a chronological dive you won't be disappointed!!
I am so jealous of you getting to experience section 80 good kidd madd city to pimp a butterfly damn and Mr morales for the first time. Enjoy the ride
worth it tbh, love untitled 06 from his untitled album
"I usually dont listen to Kendrick, but when I do, I recognize he might be one of the best."
We cant let the elite take down kendrick and keep drake safe.
💯
Dead ass and people need to wake up
Batshit crazy. Y'all are going to get Kendrick locked up. You can't incite violence and spread a rumor like that with no consequences. And y'all are egging it on with stupid conspiracy theories.
🙌🏾
If 2 people that were whistleblowers for Boeing die mysteriously within 2 months, Universal could definitely plot something behind this.
2:22 Fun fact! Drake had a picture on his instagram with himself and Karl Malone, which he deleted shortly after this song was released.
A minor is also only white keys on a piano, calling him white lol
That Terence Crawford line carries over into everything. Anyone who've seen TC box knows TC starts slow, downloads his opponent, figures him out and beat hisass for the rest of the fight.
Kendrick started slow people thought he was losing then he started popping Drake then went in to combinations and finally knocked him out.
Didn’t just knock him out. There were tools involved for this dismantle
Hey hey hey hey is a reference to fat Albert/Bill Cosby 😂
😂😂😂😅😅 I can't I'm done 😂😂😂
amazing breakdown as always
How can people listen to this song and say drake is winning this beef
Funny thing is Drake really has become a more successful version of Tekashi 69
Dumbest take so far
True
Facts
@@95szn It's true, Drake acts like he a street dude, we all know he a soft mamas boy that grew up in a rich jew area, never struggled a day in his life but acts like a thug. He fake as hell
Yeah, Drake hasn’t pleaded guilty to touching a minor like 69 has.
Yet.
The Oakland reference when he said “go” he was playin off the Tell Me When To Go record 40 and Keak Da Sneak had. Then he said “the audience not dumb” referencing the bay go dumb go stupid hyphy era but using it as a play on words. Very clever! They Not Like Us!
BAY STAND UP 🔥🔥 Kendrick is a genius. Got north and south CA united against drake
I was looking for this comment! 🔥
No wonder this guy got freakin' Pulitzer!
U missed alot but kdot deep so i forgive u😂
When he says how many do i really have in stock, 1,2,3,4,5+ 5= 10 stock or stock ten. Another stockton reference, but possible reach
Bruh hes saying hes got 10 more tracks ready to go at drake. That whats drake’s referencing in the heart part 6
@@kirbstomp96 I'm well aware, I'm just saying it could be a double also referring back to John Stockton
@@Tenk0shimura ohhh for sure bro! Just letting ya know lol
@kirbstomp96 I'll get very defensive if my kdot knowledge is tested, been a fan for 12 years now and autographed copy of damn vinyl is a prized possession of mine lol

Thanks very much for the lyrics breakdown, didn't know there was this much references
Ohh kung fu Kenny is like an encyclopedia 🥋
Whoa, I didn’t realize Kindrick was this talented
The “I see dead people” could also reference xxx’s beef with drake and Kendrick is finishing what xxx started
Actually a great point
Reach but I could see that
I saw it as Kendrick saying Drake is dead now after all this beef
I thought it was a reference to ghostwriters.
@@RonnieM90 thats how well done kendricks lyrics are, ur interpretation is valid too
This on level with Hit 'Em Up fr 🔥
This was great, short explanations that make sense. No clickbait. Subbing
I'm not one to gossip, but watching Kendrick's shots taken is absolutely insane
I also heard when he says “I see dead people” he’s also referencing how drake has ghostwriters hence he sees “dead people” aka “ghosts” 😳
2Chainz lied .. Watch BMF on Starz 3rd season 2Chainz lied to Meech told him he was good but he was setting Meexh up that's why he said 2Chainz lied..
Thank you for the hard work you put in to bring us these breakdowns 🙃❤️❤️❤️
Great vid, super in-depth, keep it up!
The "I see dead people line" hit me mostly as a slam on Drake's multiple accusations of hiring ghost writers, stating that his diss tracks were likely written by them too. IMO
I thought that was straight up referencing the end result of this assassination.
Aye congrats on 100k, big achievement. Love the content.
BEST breakdown on the net!!!

This is the best breakdown yet ! Quick straight to the point , song being referenced , very nice bro thank you

I thought this was good, I was expecting whats the dirt to be the first for in depth breakdowns, I like it keep up the good work.
5:44 the line "and I won't pass the Aux" is referring to the act of passing the Aux cord to someone else when you're in the car or otherwise playing your music on the speakers everyone is listening to. Meaning, he's not willing to give D. the chance to release a response record to his last song before releasing another diss track. And this time it's a Banger! Like 'Meet the Grahams was the left jab and this is the combo right cross to knock 'em all the way out! This is a Great video; I'm not trying to correct anything. You've done an amazing job; I couldn't have done this great of a job by half.
