jason- this is an important life lesson. Now in my late 60's I have seen both a friend and a relative become depressed because they put all their happiness in one other person. For all their thoughts, trips, entertainment etc. And when that person is gone, they are left with nothing to do. They did not cultivate any personal hobbies, interests, skills of their own over their adult lives. They don't know how to be alone or plan alone. They basically just sit. It's disturbing.
@@smorgasbroad1132 I agree, it is sad and disturbing. I've seen it myself more than once. I can never understand people who _have_ to be in a relationship, doesn't matter whether it's good or bad, because they can't be alone, they need someone, just anyone it seems. My philosophy is, be with someone because you want to be with that person (in my experience they're hard to find). Until then learn to be alone. It'll teach you far more valuable things than the alternative.

There does not even have to be anything sinister to it either. My wife of 30 years died suddenly due to a previously unknown heart problem.
We were like two halves of a single person and most content with just each other’s company.
She has been gone almost two years now and I still have no idea what to do with myself.
I even have my own friends, hobbies, and interests yet I can’t muster any interest in any of it anymore…what a mess.
A good phase of your life can start any time too

After a early 5am Christmas great workout. Then went to visit my parents after before the kids and wife wake up. Had a good convo with moms and dad it was special the greatest gift this year was just talking 2 my parents this morning. This came up on my CZcams feed at the right time. I have depression mostly in the month of December. Be it because the days grow shorter or Christmas maybe because my birthday is 12/25. Anyway I usually start feeling better as the holidays pass. Reviewing these thoughts reminded me that many I have held true. So this has helped me through another dark December.
