    Just drove it last week from St Genevieve des Bois..it took 4 hours and was 5 people..the scenery was beautiful..and also visited Brittany and Normandy...American war Museum was the highlight of my trip,You have to get to Mt St Michel when it opens,glad we did because when we were leaving it was a zoo...the walking and climbing all those steps can be a challenge.

    We were there in August with a group of ladies friends, we really had a great time, we tried to get a table to the Resto. to try the popular lamb dish prepared by the monks but it was full unfortunately. We will go back again next time and we have to make reservation in advance.

      @justtravelingthru_  Před 8 měsíci

      Going back with a reservation sounds like a great idea - it's fortunate that you can go back again. :-) On a trip we just returned from visiting the Loire Valley we relearned how important reservations can be for certain "busy" places. A great tip. Thanks for sharing it.

    My family and i rented a car and drove from paris to Mont Saint Michel with a stop at the Normandy beaches. It was a wonderful weekend trip. Great highways, although there were a few tolls.

    • @justtravelingthru_
      @justtravelingthru_  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah - Frances highways are excellent but there are lots of tolls. The Normandy beach area is beautiful and worth exploring when time allows. Spending time rather than fitting it into one day is a nice way to go.

    Thanks for the content, but I'm confused how you get from Rennes to pontorson

    • @justtravelingthru_
      @justtravelingthru_  Před 11 měsíci

      At Rennes you typically switch to a regional train. Travel time from Rennes to Pontorson was approximately 45 minutes (approximately 60 kilometers). Pay attention to the tickets that you book. If you plug in Mont St. Michel as your destination the trip details should show you the legs of the trip.

    Hey is the train from Rennes to pontorson (RER train) available quite often? Could we buy the ticket at the station? (As am not able to find good timings like you travelled) And is the train available from the same station as we get down at renees.

    • @justtravelingthru_
      @justtravelingthru_  Před rokem +4

      I took a quick look at "thetrainline.com" site and it would appear that the train schedules are now in seasonal mode - in that there are fewer trains from Rennes to Pontorson than there are during the summer/tourist season. I double checked the SNCF and OMIO websites and they show very few trains in November, December and January. I did not look further, as it is clear that the seasonal schedule is in effect. I also searched for bus and car-hires that would be available, and could not find any bus service. In the tourist season, you would be able to purchase tickets at the train station, however we would not recommend waiting - because during the season this is a popular journey and there are only so many train seats available. We would recommend advance purchase of your tickets online before you arrived in France.

      You can book as early as 90 days in advance. The high-speed trains get full quicker so I would book as far in advance as you can for that part of the trip.

    We are trying to replicate your trip from Paris to Mont St Michel. The train schedules will get us to Rennes at 08:15. The problem is that the TER train leaves at 08:05. I find it surprising they would make it impossible to transfer. Did you do anything different than what we are currently looking at. Greatly appreciate your channel. Can you offer any advice?

    • @justtravelingthru_
      @justtravelingthru_  Před 4 měsíci

      Try using a site like Rail Europe and put in the search criteria Paris as the start and the end station of Pontorson. I tried a few dates in the next 60 days and there were options with appropriate connections. They don't seem to let you book more than around 60-65 days in advance or so. Also - I don't think there are as many trains on the weekends, especially Sunday's so keep that in mind. I hope you have a wondeful trip and thanks for the appreciation. Consider sending us a superthanks if you found it useful. :-)

      hello - I just put in a date of Tuesday, April 4 - from Paris to Pontorson-Mont-St-Michel and the routes show up with the connection in Rennes. It will show Paris Montparnasse with 1 change in Rennes. On April 4th there is a train leaving at 8:40 and arriving at 12:14 - taking 3 hours and 34 minutes. I would post a screenshot but it doesn't allow that. Maybe try again and use that date as an experiment.
