    Nice video, helpful to us as we're about to start cruising the same areas ourselves, and have an adventure van as well. Thanks so much!

    We have the "RV" or now called "Roam" and use it full time either in our RV or our boat. This is our second year using it on our boat up in Canada...Desolation Sound and everywhere in-between our slip in La Conner. This system has worked great with continuous connection to the internet, even in the 2 black cells in the middle of the Strait of Georgia. We have been cruising with friends that have tested the speed limit above 8 kts and they have lost signal, they just slow down and it comes right back. For PNW inland cruising and up into Canada it is perfect way to stay connected for I am still working :-) Cheers from Squirrel Cove, BC !!!!

    As somone who plans to be a coastal sailor thanks for breaking things down.
    Get the residential dish (on cheap through the rural Canada deal for 199 right now...) Then sub to the mobility plan after and if you need priority data take it!

    It's nice to see you back "on air" and thanks for the Starlink update. I'm about to do my first longer and farther out run that will challenge my TMobile home internet coverage. I'll update you on the results.

    Thank you for this video. As a Seattlite myself I have always loved spending time on the water and am looking at purchasing a boat next year for extended trips with working aboard and was curious about how starlink worked on boats and found your channel. I am glad to hear that they have made some improvements to the service making it what sounds like an excellent service while aboard.

    I am enjoying the videos you guys produce. With the mobility plan you have the non Maritime HP Antenna? I am a coastal Cruiser here in So Cal and I think your analysis is spot on.

    • @ElliYacht1
      @ElliYacht1  Před 11 měsíci

      Thank you for the encouragement! The Mobility plan can be used with either dish. However, Starlink now clarifies that if an antenna that has a mounting post (standard dish), the warranty is voided, if used in motion.
      We have a single flat, wedge mounted, HP dish. Works great and has a 40% wider view of the skyline.

    Thanks for the good info.. ?? For you.... We live in Rural BC and have SL at home. 1st gen round dish.
    We will be spending lots of time on our boat around prince rupert and down the inside passage in the summer...
    Can I just buy another SL set up, dish, router etc, mount it on the boat, and have just one rate plan. so when on boat we can roam, and when we go home switch back to basic residential? TIA

    • @ElliYacht1
      @ElliYacht1  Před 6 měsíci +1

      First, thank you for the kind words and encouragement. It sounds like your upcoming season is going to be amazing! At this point, you need to have a separate plan for each dish. However, the good news is, you can pause and activate the dish/plan on your boat. That is a huge upside for the roam plan vs the residential plan. I will note that you can have multiple dishes on the same email account.

    The Priority Mobile is $2 a Gig, but You Can Buy Chucks. $1,000 Per Terabyte, Basically. $250 is for 50 Gig. You Can Also Get Five Terabyte for $5,000 a Month.

    You need mobile priority if you plan on going to the Bahamas or Caribbean islands.

    No ocean doesn't make sense, there are very few people out there on the high seas so they should be happy that someone wants to use their services there and not charge a fortune! 🇸🇪😄😀💕

    Does roam plan work well with standard equipment priced at $599?

    • @ElliYacht1
      @ElliYacht1  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes. However, Starlink has clarified that the warranty is void if it is used for in motion. I think they got tired of replacing the units with broken motors from excess strain that motion puts on them.

    • @silentscuba
      @silentscuba Před 11 měsíci

      I have used the Mobile (standard) unit now for a couple of years and it works great for the type of boating we do....we cruise at 7-8 kts and anchor out a lot and I don't see much movement now....even less than last year because there are more satellites so not as much need for the unit to search...just saying :-)

  • @DarkSevariant
    @DarkSevariant Před 10 měsíci

    If You Buy the $250 50 Gig Packet, If You Go Over, and Go to Terabyte, That's $2,000 for a Terabyte. Might As Well Buy the Terabyte Plan, for $1,000. Also, if You Have Residential, and You Switch to 'Mobile Priority' It's Like Old School 'Roaming' and It's Expensive to Buy Roaming Per Incident. Just Pay $250 a Month, for Priority. You Can Either Pay $250, or $1000, or $5000
    I Checked My Land Fiber Data. I Do All Kinds of Things. Streaming, Zoom, Game Streaming, Surf Internet...and I Used 850 Gigabyte Over 30 days.

    The residential plan is only 90 a month if you’re not in a congested area

  • @DarkSevariant
    @DarkSevariant Před 10 měsíci

    Now, I Heard That You Can Use a 'Dishy Ver 2' at Sea, As Long As You Have 'Mobile Priority' and Don't Mind the Slower Speeds of 150Mbps, and You Get the $250 Plan. The Dishy Satellite Supposedly Only Has 150 Mbps I Heard You Only Need the High Definition One, if You Are Commercial, and You Have Customers That Rely on the Data.
    I'm So Confused...!!!

      I am sure you are giving your money to *far worse* people on a regular basis. Just burning fuel (car, home, boat, plane) enrich many very very bad people.
