I notice from your videos, when its natural engine kicks in, the RAV4 Hybrid is better sounding and slightly quieter than the CR-V's engine. It's definitely quieter than the regular RAV4's engine. Plus, with just the electric motors pulling it's extremely quiet. That combined with better fuel mileage makes the RAV4 Hybrid the winner for me. Thanks for making these videos. It's the second best thing to test driving myself.

I'm purchasing one. Hybrid with plug in. Question: how do I make it ONLY use the electric engine? I mean, could I speed up to the limit and only be using the electric engine? or does it use electricity up to a certain point of speed and then passing that point, goes with gas? Just curious as it's about a couple months until I get the car.

We just purchased a Limited and it didn’t have any rattles and felt solid. I cannot say anything for the 2019 but the 2020 felt very nice. Not to mention the little details in the RAV4 hybrid are amazing like the rubber grip on the backs of the handles for the doors on the interior and the texture for the nooks and crannies and cup holders to grip things. I love the leather like material in the interior trim too. We have this and a 2020 Prius Prime Limited and I thing both are among the best in their classes.

    • @phronesismeister

@@natalie2070 The model I test drove was a 2020 RAV4 Hybrid. I've also driven a 2020 4Runner, 2018 RAV4, 2018 Tacoma, and 2017 Highlander XLE. To me, the level of refinement and degree of torsional rigidity of the new RAV4 was a notable step down from the prior model, and definitely from the Highlander. And based on the reviews I've read on various auto forums, publications, and the like, I'm not alone in this view. All told, it's not a bad vehicle, but plainly, Toyota could have done better. The latest recalls are further evidence of that.
