I love how he says: "When I leave the planet." It's like in a few years he's going to mars.
Put a standbeest on mars
@@ThePurpleBottleRocket that would be..... Awesome
@@ThePurpleBottleRocket no wind no party
@@saintjames5816 There is tons of wind on mars.
@@shinyguy3766 dude I had no idea
I can hardly remember that something inspired me more than this. I wish Theo to succeed in his efforts to create the ultimate strand beest!
That looks amazing! It reminds me of Leonardo da Vinci's drawings.
Right?! Right??!!
This man is incredibly intelligent and creative.
I just discovered these this second and im blown away. Absolutely magical.
Fascinating use of wind driven mechanics. I've seen other videos like this and have really been impressed. Would love to see one in real life.
This is art, engineering and spirituality, all at the same time
This has to be the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
I would really love to get a close look at the mechanics of it.
Thank you CZcams. I'm pretty old and would never have known about such a wondrous thing as this if it hadn't been for you.
In literature it is known as Theo Jansen mechanism which is very well known by Mechanical Engineers who interested in linkages...
These thing are so fun to play in games
Amazing. If his designs will one day be used on the Venus Missions - that would be epic!
Wow, I really likes this guy confidence...really impressive work.
Listened to his lectures before at the Delft University. Very cool guy and inspiring as well.
Welcome to the weird world of theo jansen.
And an utterly beautiful one
This dude is a modern Leonardo DaVinci in the making...
Its beautiful
i love how this artist just makes an entire family tree and time periods for these strandbeests
Regarding traversing salt plains for lithium exploration...Holmes Jenson are the new Land Rover...I am thinking ..
Thanks Theo totally loved your show and exhibition at the Verbeke Institute in Belgium.....
Wow ...what a man ! What a gift to humanity before u leave the planet!
Long time passed, and I am still mesmerized by it💐❤

Fascinating! This mind-blowing video is really entertaining. I'm relaxing while watching this amazing creatures
Man what a moving concept, a way to create a self sufficient and replicating creature, while avoiding all ethical problems and making something breathtaking, this could change people's view on Life as a whole
They should incorporate something like this for Mars Rovers. The main problem with most Rovers is they have to be solar paneled and they get stuck in the mud sometimes. Obviously there's a lot of thought that goes into mars rovers and the robot would still benefit from wheels, but if engineers needs the robot to go 50 km in one direction on a flat plain, one of these beasts could do it a lot faster with a lot less energy.
There is no mud on Mars
@@edwardroche2480 "beest" can walk freely without mud💀 you just need the wind
@@assertingdominance1759 Mars has wind usually too much at once
@@edwardroche2480 exactly what they need
imagine making a herd of them roam a strandbeest national park
why am i still working a 5 to 9 job when we have inventions like this, one of many.
9 to 5? you are lucky...I work 6 to 18
@@garvielloken4114 6 to 18? You're lucky. I work 24/7 and my boss beats me with a stick!
If Frederico Fellini, the Italian film maket, was still around....he would incorporate this material into his out-of-this-world approach.
World renowned Guilermo de Toro, still around....would love this work. He would film it.
Sooo beautiful !

This guy is evidently extremely smart
I've got a really amazing idea, what if the strandbeests eat plastic bottles and trash off the beach and 3D print then into new strandbeests like reproduction and cleaning the environment at the same time!!!👏👏👏
They will take over...
... no more plastic that remains...
We will be lost in a matter of days

Mr Pepperoni Pizza: What an excellent idea.
What an amazing and graceful creature!
So cool! Every beach should have those!
They are so scaring but interesting . Walking skeletons 😳.
Удивительные создания.😊
These creations remind us that we are animals who are using energy to discover the world. We are connected to this planet.
Creativity will help save planet aswell. 😉
To you, who edited this, I love you
Fascinating creatures!
I love these things!!!
If they were connected to plants then maybe there tecnacly living
BBC News. "Beest"
Quality Control has left the building.
These are really amazing but do they have any purpose?? Just curious
their purpose is to destroy all of its enemies or maybe just the 80% of them.
they could help clear mine fields. maybe the can be of use in the desert or maybe they are just a whole new way of thinking about energy and movement.
I have seen his exhibition in Mexico city. fascinating
*mr crabs walking noises*
Grande! Immenso! Meraviglioso!
He really know that his time is limited. Other forgotten
Fascinating
This subject tickles my fancy
Phenomenal 💎
Wouldn’t you love to travel to work on one of those. Incredible
Very very fantastic

The beest' walking sound feels like ASMR to me 😁
Amazing
Lol best thing I've ever seen !!!!!
Easiest SAT prompt ever
Imagine 300 years ago this guy would have died and possibly faded until an old notebook turned up.
Your pfp is cringe
Потом он научит эти штуки размножаться, и миру явится механическая форма жизни.
Last Oasis honered him
1:36 that's quite a fantastical dream but if others continue his research/hobby then in a way he succeeded
How smart is this guy? Also slightly eccentric, which is possibly why he's so smart......
I was fascinated by his strandbeests, but as much disappointed by his concluding comment ... Venus ... most watched CZcams video ...
magical
2:45 how the hell does that movement work? I can't see any strings or linkages or pulleys or anything on this mechanism, and if they're made only out of PVC...how is he getting that movement?
Wonder if he would approve or disapprove of Last Oasis game
❤faantastic...
Leonardo davinci of modern times
അമ്പമ്പോ... pwoli സാധനം...
❤!
Is it me or does this guy looks like Paul Rudd
Man is the mother of all invention.
No wonder the beach is totally empty.
Wow
How does he get it in the car? Or does he ride the beast home?
Волшебник
Lol. People are awesome 👏
TATAKAE
Guy is talking terminator here
Granted the design and thought awesome . However, i wish they cleaned beaches opinion.

Awesome! 👍👍

The only contraption that gave me nightmares!
nice

I wish this was in 360
"I want an animal that can survive on it's own"
"Artist talk" aside, what does he mean by this? a self maintaining structure or a concept that could work as a real animal.
Brain flash, what if this could actually be turned into a mechanical harvester of big fields of grass, ran on wind power.
complete mad lad, and NASA gave him tax money for ideas. LOL
If this Thing Could roam the beaches and Collect Plastik in a way, we could clean without any source of Energy 💨
There’s definitely something weird about these.
I'll just call it a walker.
Aliens
the BBC's comment section is pure diarrhea!
Where are the ballistas and repeaters?
