  • Last episode of Bruce Forsyth's first and only sitcom role as Cecil Slinger, manager of Supafare. Featuring Philip Bird (Peter in Fresh/French Fields) and David Kelly (every 80s sitcom's Irishman).
    I still don't think this is as bad its press would have you believe, I've certainly seen a lot worse.

    During the lockdown i watched a lot of 80s comedies and tv shows. Comfort and escapism to counter the crazy days of 2020 🙇

    All the tributes to Sir Bruce have failed to mention this program as I worked in a supermarket when this was on I though I it was funny and he did 2 series of this so its a shame it did not get a mention RIP Sir Bruce

      That’s because it wasn’t considered to be one of his better moments. Apparently it wasn’t particularly successful so they down played that he was in it. I disagree. I love it. And I love Bruce. I also loved trippers day with Leonard rossitor.

      Sounds like you’re looking for gold in a coal mine. There’s lots of well written, hilarious comedies coming out at the moment, you just need to look beyond primetime, BBC1 & ITV slots; as granted, they’re reserved for shite!

    How similar were Brucie & Rigsby! Brilliant both; sitcoms Trippers/Slingers less so, but better than todays trashy UK comedy!

      It was commissioned for a second series already but due to original star Leonard Rossiter's death, Thames roped in Bruce Forsyth purely for contractual obligation.
