with most of those sales being in the US.... so the adoption in the rest of the world is even lower then the statistics suggest because all of the sales are clustered
so no..... even as a young standard, USB-C is easily more common in the world at large

I tried I phone once and since I use the smartphone like a pc substitute, android is much MUCH more computer-like.
And that's exactly the main difference. Android works like a computer. iOS works like an appliance, it's consistent simple and meant to execute tasks well. Android is more flexible but not nearly as reliable.
@@QuarterSwede Yep. Iphone simply works. But Android you own the thing, I even installed terminal on it to access underlying Linux commands. But fun aside, what I really like with android is that you can play with files and transfer them etc just like you would on a PC.

No kidding man. I found my old samgung S3 in a box. Installed a new custom OS and this thing is up and running like a new phone. A bit slower but its fun to see the differences with apple. You can get away with almost anything on Android.

This is pretty darn good. Even reflects the security you get with both. I love android but the attack surface compared to containerized apps on iOS is way too large. And it’s even worse if you root and don’t know what you’re doing.(like a lot of end-users accepting UAC prompt on Windows without thinking)

Kinda shocked that widgets weren't in this list. I always have a weather and clock widget on my home page, more so for aesthetics rather than information.
@Partha Sarma I get it, but hence me using them for the look versus function. My battery life is usually enough to get me through the day anyhow. I'm also practically addicted to using KWGT's personalized widgets, and I usually make a new set whenever I change wallpapers/themes.
More than 3/4 of all my home screen space is widgets. I have 2 screens. One is my 2 email accounts I keep track of, my other screen is half google calendar, a 1x2 widget for weather and the rest is folders with various apps/shortcuts. I like my widgets.
@Partha Sarma Weather widget saves my bacon, both me and my dog hates walking in the rain, so being able to tell what hour showers come makes his bladder survive. I check it when I set my alarm for the next morning, and again mid day so I know what to expect later in the evening. The Spotify widget is handy too, especially for skipping to the next track when I'm on the move.

But over time I customized it a ton, and Androids have done everything I need.

In Australia, "rooting" something is breaking it, so when you said "you can unlock more functionality by rooting your phone" sounds like "by breaking your phone, you get more customisation." Lol
The term "rooting" comes from the fact that UNIX systems have a folder called /, which is the equivalent of the C: drive in Windows, and Linux is based off of UNIX, and Android is based off of Linux
Jailbreaking it, Not breaking it. And yes, Breaking Android systems give you more freedom on customization. It's like copy pasting code and adding some more stuff or removing some stuff to suit your needs. Yes you're breaking the code but if you know what you're doing, It's usually fine

@Chief Imagine finally adding an oled display in 2017. Imagine that display still not being 1440p. Imagine having NFC, but limiting it to Apple pay. Imagine waiting til 2017 to finally add wireless charging. Imagine not having USB-C. The list goes on. But sure, Face ID and the A12 bionic should totally make up for all the short comings of a phone that costs well over $1,000. Budget phones have a lot of those features. @@prima6170 Yep. I've done research and even seen if for myself in person. Every android I used always had some issue with lag and stuttering. Never had and of that on IOS devices. I"m just saying that if I'm going to pay a hefty price for a phone, I expect it to give me the best of everything. I paid over $800 for my note 10 plus and the screen had a dead pixel after one year and other problems with wifi and performance.

I am what one would call a _power user._ As far as performance, I've had an Android phone lockup once, but that's because I was trying to be creative with it 😉. Never had a speed problem, or glitches. A friend of mine has shared several problems with iPhones and MBPs over the years. He's also paranoid over the glass breaking (never ever happened on my Androids). He still buys iPhones and MBPs though 🤨
I have an iPhone now for work. I dropped it just 3ft and the glass cracked. Also, I used an iPhone when I worked for the Census, and I wasn't impressed. It was just like using an Android to me.

@@prima6170 I doubt that its all a matter of luck. My last phone I broke was my note 10 plus. I noticed how memory hungry android is so maybe that has something to do with slowing down and stuttering.

with Apple everything straightforward you got one launcher you can't even change your browser and you can change the icons so everything is easy to find I. With and andriod you can change the color of the notification bar 12 by 12 icons on the home screen with Nova Launcher and nnow on the s10 and pie there is a dark theme I don't use apple cause there is barely any customization

USB OTG is actually huge. My business uses an app to interface with HVAC and cooling systems to run diagnostics, recommend repairs that calculates payback and determines efficiency, capacity and cost of running equipment. We get nice kickbacks from utilities with bad grids and definitely helps knowing where budgets will be spent. Anyhow the app does so much more collecting all the data into a portal with many options like generating reports based on what equipment is costing the most to operate. One huge problem on the Apple side is no USB OTG needed to interface between USB and the serial ports most of the equipment is currently using. Maybe 10 or 20 years when the equipment has been replaced with wireless option but hardly cost effective replacing thousands of dollars of equipment just to be able to talk with an IOS device.

I'm an iPhone user but i try to stay up to date with what the current android market are offering. I'm required to use an iPad for school so it's much more convenient to use an iPhone but I get really irritated because people just blindly say that ios is better
