I’m 49, Cannock was such a nice place in the 70’s and 80’s, good shop’s that was really busy, now it’s rubbish, Walsall has gone down the same way, it’s internet shopping and sky high rents, retailers can’t compete
the GAME store is gone now aswell

I know Jim, I’m 49 and remember g & b’s as a small child, I hated the smell of coffee in there, I’m sure it was two levels then, upstairs and down?
The first shop on the corner used to be Clarke’s and Son’s Department store in the 80’s. It was brilliant. Cannock was a thriving mining town in the 80’s and early 90’s and it’s just turned into a complete shit hole over the years. I don’t recognize it anymore. Had some great times growing up and it breaks my heart to see what the council have done to it. Frank Allen wrecked that town. Sold the land of the stadium to Private builders and did a deal with Asda. What was once a really busy track is a second rate park now. Disgrace
Such a shame the stadium got closed down. Hopefully, the regeneration plans will bring some life back into the town.
@@vloggingnomaduk they won’t. Council are clueless. When they had Athletics meets on the local shops used to do some great business! Boots closed, the shopping centre closed. That used to be a Co-Op department store years ago, you could get to it from the back entrance of Boots. All those windows were dressed with Homewares, Toys, you name it. The Car Park had an indoor market under it on Weds and Saturdays and the town was super busy. When Woolworths closed in the late Nougties that bought about the end. The weeks leading to Christmas and the Town was absolutely packed. Christmas Eve and we’d all go to the White Heart down Wolverhampton Road. I grew up there but haven’t been back to the town in 12 years
You neglected to say the forum, boots etc are under compulsory purchase for the town centre development.

The Multi Storey car park is a joke it is vile and it is the ugliest building in cannock. I feel if you’re insecure about a building you like when at least it will not be as ugliest as that thing.
Totally agree, Cannock will look much nicer when the multi storey car park is knocked down.
