Wow, looks like Roomba really stepped up their game for this one! Great review!
I really enjoy watching your reviews and the thorough testing you put the products through. Much appreciated.

If this robot were reasonably priced, it'd be such a slam dunk.
I think even a $899 price tag would have looked better and still keep them at the top when it comes to price.
Ridin_ Low thats how much I just bought the S9+ for when it was on sale and bundle discount with the braava m6.

Great video, you guys are so professional. Wish iRobot vacuums were cheaper here in Australia. The s9 hasnât been released here yet but the i7+ is selling for $1,800! Donât even want to think about how much the S9 may cost.
why am I watching this right now, and why do I find it somehow enjoyable
Really Happy I saw this review I was actually about to buy the i7+ this week, but now I will be buying the i9+ for sure.
Many many thanks for creating this great comparative videos! This are a great advantage to get the best of the best. Since you already made many many test.
By the way notice that the Roomba is great, also against pet hairs, but if there is any glass or cutting small pcs. the roomba rollers will be damaged right away. the same happens here in the sample with bigger pcs. to clean.
Still looks like the Roborock S5 or the Neato D7 would better a better buy???
You should add a small/large rug on wood floor test. Thanks for the great review!
Thank you for the in-dept review! The only test missing is itâs capability of climbing over small surface (like door step).
The S9+ doesn't have any troubles with it (using it for 1,5 years now). The M6 mop on the other hand does not like door steps.

Same, ha.
The best part is in a few years similar quality robot vacuums will be a fraction of the current cost.
Matt Michael only possible if people buy at this price though, if no demand thereâs no reason to build them. Early adopters are amazing people
don't forget that iRobot has +1000 patents, while all other competitors, 500 combined
Gavin Muggy lol. I remember when the 980 cost nearly $1000 with tax.
People will buy them and the cost will go down significantly.
Yeah, I just bought an E6 for $250, and I'm really hopeful in another five years I can get a self cleaning base for about the same amount.
Chaos Reigns I canât imagine that whole package being that cheap... at least not from iRobot. But I think $500-$600 is reasonable.
It needs navigation to find its way back.
Danm iRobot finally listed to one of your videođ
What do you mean?
@@DarxusC We may never get an answer
Great vid. I'm looking forward to the new comparison 'cuz I bought an i7+ just a couple of months ago. I always wonder if that spinning brush really helps 'cuz it seems to scatter stuff a lot. Plus, it has ALMOST enough power to get 1/2 of my main floor without a recharge. So, it needs to end up recharging and resuming 2 hours later more often than I think it should. I don't know if I could justify the cost of the i7+, but it's even harder with how much they want for the S9+.
I can not get over how exceptional these videos are.
Nice review. Excellent test setup.
Really looks like a picture of a toilet on the thumbnail though.
Can't wait to see what Neato builds up next, as an iRobot fan, this is incredible as a robot vacuum!

Wow, just stumbled across your channel. Great job on your breakdown of the vacuum. You just earned yourself a sub đ€
How do you do the tracking video off the robot? What program are you using? I need it to see the pattern of my robot mower. đ
Roomba finally gave in and made a Neato xD
Looks like there's a new King of the Hill! Nice review thanks.
Very interesting. Bought this and its pricey, but it cleans very thoroughly. This thing is so powerful that it ran over something that cracked one of the rubber brushes. Fortunately iRobot is actually sending me out two additional brush kits. Its a great product albeit on the expensive side. Before I bought this thing I watched a bunch of your video reviews, but this wasn't up yet. The self-emptying and allergen thing really sealed the deal for me. I do feel battery life could be better but the fact that it recharges and empties itself kind of makes up for it. The cost of replaceable parts is a bit ridiculous, but for what it does its probably worth it.
The fact youâre calling it a bin is like music to my British ears đđ
How does the Roomba S9+ work in the Dark??
I currently own a Neato D4 and have no immediate plans to upgrade because it suits my needs very well. But, a few things intrigued me about the the S9: 1) self-emptying of course, but it doesn't justify the cost for me. 2) I'd get to keep the much better "D" shape that I'm used to with the wider main brush. 3) The 1" narrower design would be huge for me, since it seems my furniture was built perfectly to frustrate my D4.
My one concern is that it still uses a camera. I like my vacuum to run in the middle of the night while I'm at work, and I don't want to have to leave lights on all over my house. I do like that camera bots have a lower profile since they don't have a laser turret though. Why didn't they put a couple of LED "headlights" on it so the camera wouldn't be an issue at any time or location?
Just WoW! Very helpful in deciding a robot you explained it very clearly!
Glad it was helpful!
Let me preface this review by saying, when this robot works, itâs pretty dang goodâŠ.. however, it doesnât work for very long. Let me start at the beginning. I purchased this unit after an extensive few months of research. I could have bought any robot I wanted, but I settled on this robot based on all the reviews. I purchased it in Oct of 2020 and by January 2021, it was throwing errors and would not clean anything. Support was great, I called them up, I told them the issues, they sent me a new unit. The replacement unit seemed to work well for about ten months of being used maybe once a week. Around the beginning of December 2021 I was watching the unit clean my bedroom when all of the sudden it stopped and the red error light came on. No problem I thought, Iâll just put it back on the base since it was pretty much done in that room anyway. I put it on the base, but I could not clear the error. I removed the battery, did a factory reset, but the unit was stuck in an endless boot up loop with a spinning white light. Iâve not had the replacement unit for a year so I create a support ticket to see if they could help me out. After a long delay (despite the policy of responding within a day) I got a response about a week later with some troubleshooting tips. With it not being my first rodeo with these sorts of things, I had already tried to clear the error myself looking through numerous posts. Ultimately, I was asked to send my receipt, a video of myself pushing the clean button, and my address and phone number. After I did this, the ticket was escalated and I was told that there was nothing that could be done. The unit was out of warranty (the replacement unit was less than a year old) and they could not fix it nor replace it. So essentially, I have an $1100 dollar paper weight.
Like everyone else who does their research, I had seen the negative reviews about the reliability of this unit. I decided to take the chance and assume that these negative reviews were the exception. After my experience with the robot, searching through all the Reddit posts and support forums, Iâve come to the realization that this robot is simply not reliable enough for the money people are paying for it. I buy high end tools all the time and when I pay upwards of $1000 for a tool, I expect to that tool to last a long time. This is not such a tool. In my estimation and my experience with it, I believe the fault lies in some sort of programming flaw. The hardware itself is amazing, very well made, but all the hiccups that Iâve noticed with this thing seem to revolve around what appears to be some sort of half baked OS. I could be complete wrong about that, but Iâve been in IT for twenty years so Iâve seen similar issues with computers. Overall it has just been an extremely disappointing experience with this robot and at the end, the customer service response just kinda solidified the idea for me that iRobot knows this device is unreliable. They are damaging their reputation in the industry and I think they will eventually realize this mistake when people chose other robots over theirâs for increased reliability. Had I know this was going to be such an unreliable robot, I would have sacrificed features and power for reliability. Would have saved myself money too.
Save yourself the headache Iâve had, look at other units, I would not recommend this unit to anyone.
I heard a lot of the early manufactured s9 had lots of big batches that had a high chance of various kinds of hardware defects, including stuff that messed up the computer (hence the internal error codes)
Supposedly the newer produced s9's are built far more reliable in terms of not having faulty hardware or defects. So (again, supposedly) the computer wouldn't get messed up by hardware faults alone, only from derp firmware.
Which as we all know, _did_ happen that one firmware patch. Even now, not all the various ways the s9 encounters major errors have been fixed (but they have since the at least fixed it to be mostly usable now)
We're almost there! But for that price I need it to walk up my stairs first.
why when you could buy two of these for $1,400 each
Fantastic quality video, subscribed!
Great video. Was looking forward to seeing it
Awesome review!
I really wish I had only one main floor in my house, I personally could justify the expense for one of these. However I live in a 3-level split (so three small floors). I think the really question is, when will these robots start going up and down stairs?
I'd love to buy one, but having to buy disposable bags is a deal breaker. In the day 'n age when we are trying to clean up our environment, introducing more disposable products is simply ridiculous.
I think an updated model should include a dust bin in the clean base! With washable filters would be nice!
The bags are eco friendly and made from recycled products, and burned like them as well, so don't really see the issue, given its not a deal breaker if u just buy the non + version and just empty the bin manually after each cycle vs waiting a few weeks instead.
I am not a fan of the Disposable bags, I usually just dump the dirt out of the bags and reuse them.
Richard Parker Anybody bother to learn what a Hepa Filter is ?
It drastically cuts down on the size particles that trigger allergies & other Health issues.

hi! love the videos! and i think i got a new test for you...
when you do all your testing with the robot vacum cleaners , isnt it possible for you to do a "climb test" to se how high a vacum clearner can climb over the lower door frame ...
He does: czcams.com/video/uZHwAu2rw48/video.html
Don't know why it wasn't mentioned in this video.
@@DarxusC It might be because the s9 is so low to the ground that it can only climb things if it hits them at the right angle
I would guess he didn't mention it because the results of that test weren't interesting. I'd be shocked if the latest and greatest roomba was significantly worse at climbing over things than the rest, and I haven't heard that in the subreddit.

Such a great review! Thank you :-)
Yes, as everyone else has said. Amazing reviews. Great level of detail to put these devices through their paces. I live part of the time in the Us and part of the time in Australia. The Roomba S9+ is not yet available in Australia. Is there any markings on the power supply or power input of the cleaning base station to say what power it needs. I understand the US uses 110V power, and the Roomba S9+ base station comes with a US power cord. But is this a built in cord which only works with that voltage or does it use a DC power converter to supply say 19V of DC power? Can't see any info on this or a photo of the back of the base station to check this out. Either way I am looking at getting one for the US.
It also vacuums your wallet emptyđđ
Some1 LoL my wallet looking pretty skinny these days Hahaha
I want this so bad! But the reviews on Amazon are terrifying
@thesiehara I have one. Don't buy it. Honestly its not worth it. Believe me, it requires TOO much human intervention.
The suction is good, and as a vacuum its great so everything that the Vacuum Wars guy is saying is correct but its not a good product. The mapping is atrocious and customer service is horrible. I'm not trying to take business away from this guy's channel its very good but "Is it good reviews!" did a pretty comprehensive user review of the robot and I find my experience more in line with his than with vacuum wars' review. Also they only sell the S9+ now which has the auto suction its not worth it in my opinion.
@@anthonyks9316 thank you! So I want a robot vacuum because I have a lot of cats... I vacuum twice a day and want to physically vacuum once a day. I donât mind checking it once a day to clear out anything... the main and basically only thing getting picked up is cat hair. Do you have an alternative you would recommend? Do you think for my purpose this vacuum could accommodate me?
@@TheSiehara So it depends on your house. I don't mind speaking off channel to give you a better idea, but my house has hardwood, carpet, and chairs that are (rampy?). My Roomba gets stuck in place (on the ramps) a lot and gets confused and the amount of errors I get when cleaning my main floor is unreal. You won't be checking the machine once a day. For example, my last cleaning was cancelled because my robot was hitting a wall.
That being said, the vacuuming/suction power is really good on my device. The replacement parts are extremely expensive (and cheap) but I'm assuming thats the same across companies. There are alternatives that work equally as well for half the price.
What I would recommend is the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO T8 AIVI. I recommend watching the review I posted above because it gives the recommendation.
At the end of the day, hand vacuuming is the best, I have a Dyson for that.

I purchased both the i7+ & S9+ to see which one was better for my application. I have a 2000sqft apartment with half marble floor and the bedrooms in light pile carpet. The i7 works perfectly on all surfaces and cleans fantastically. The S9 gets constantly stuck on the carpet and ends up almost trying to burn through it, when it finally realises it's beached so goes full power in reverse and digs the wheels in, to no avail apart from damaging the carpet. The side brush gets itself all knotted up and renders itself pretty much useless after the training run. The i7 is a beast, the S9 is a product which is not fit for purpose in real world application, total waste of time and money in my eyes. Get the i7, you won't be disappointed.
The s9+ is working fine in our house with wood in most places and low pile carpet in the bedrooms.
What Roomba needs is self cleaning brushes that removes hair like the powerbot.
How long did it take for Roomba to *finally* design a Neato?!
They didn't yet. It looks like the S9 still doesn't navigate by LDS!
Over five years
It would be interesting to see the fog test carried out on robot vacuums. I know my Neato would fail miserably, but maybe the Dyson would do well.
So happy to see this. Thank you

I love your review! Great work thanks. Was wondering have you had the chance to test the AEG /Electrolux series? They are very impressive too.
This channel is by far the best smart home robot channel on CZcams.
do you have any issues with it Hopping on premium plush carpet? I have a pretty dense, soft plush and I notice that it gets "wheel hop" when the brushes turn up to higher speeds on that carpet... the robot hops around for a bit, then stops.. seems to turn off its brushes and goes about sweeping.. then turns them bacxk on.. and they run fine as loing as the robot doesnt stop and turn.. when it stops and turns, it hops on the brushes again till it stops them and restarts them.. it still seems to get the dirt up, I went over my carpet with my shark right afyer it was done and very little dirt in the bin of the shark, so the S9 is doing its job... I do have it get caught sometimes under a credenza in my office that is Just taller than the S9.. so it goes under and touches the "celing" at somepoint and has gotten already there.. I havent found a way to stop it from goimg under yet.. it did eat the hose for my sleep number bed.. the rollers are soft so no damage, but it couldnt clear itself and called for help... on my hard floors it has no trouble going over the thresholds from my wood to tile to vinyl.. and the corners are cleaner than they were with my manual vacuum simply because I was too lazy to get the attachments out.. it takes 2 charges to do my 1 floor 1400 sq ft ranch.. the area it cleans is 80% hard floors and 20% super dense plush carpet.. im only in 5 days.. my first day or two it got lost finding its base and its battery went dead.. but now that the map is getting more complete that doesnt happen anymore.. so far the Cat has only hissed at it twice. i love the fact it will enpty itself, recharge and resume where it left off.

So Iâve owned the Neato D7 and the Roomba I7+. I loved the fact I didnât have to clean the bot out but I didnât like the navigation of it as it bumped into things often and much more then my D7. Have they changed that with the S9? Youâve also said in the past no-go lines might be a must, do you think the new S9 overcomes with how good it is and you donât need that feature anymore?
Can you talk about the navigation feature. I know the i7+ has a camera that it struggles to use in low light areas, is this the same with the new roomba?
Yea.... Does Roomba still not run on black carpet?

@@leeezell6064 let's

God of plumbing Little piece of cheap plastic with a microchip, vs a large metal and wood hand built product đ€
I just purchased this vacuum - I was wondering if the noise levels that I have, even in the quiet setting, are normal. Would be nice if you found a way for us to know that via your videos!
I'm thinking about adding a clean base to my i7 but the reviews sound like it doesn't last. What are your feeling on it? I love my roombas!
Roomba S9 VS Neato D7
Still think roborock s5 is better and cost saving... $1300 on a vacuum man...
Roborock is WAY cheaper, but here is a catch - Roborock S5 and Roborock S6 has basically the same hardware, but company forces you to buy a new model if you want new software features. Literally the main difference is in software, not hardware.
Erikas Rudinskas Yeah such a shame Roborock could of made the s5 customers happy be adding the features the s6 has, I really wanted to multiple floor plans and be able to save zoned areas. A pain having to select an area every time.
I still got the 600 from back in the day. Keeps my hard wood floors super clean everyday use.
That's awesome
Would be interesting to see this compared to the Dyson V11 for someone who was choosing between the two price points.
Who else thought that the roomba In the thumbnail looked like a toilet?
Wow, they finally ripped off Neato. I might actually replace mine with this.
Exactly the thing I was thinking.
Watch out, it vacuums wallets too.
Iâm gonna buy one of these someday, to me itâs like a rocket ship that returns to the base... so cool
Do not spend your money in #IROBOT S9 !! The error 31 is not reparable error !! #Irobot doesn t have a solution for this
Would you recommend getting a second automatic cleaning base for another floor of the house? I just got the s9 and I have a lot of cleaning needed to be done at my house
