    I have a 2005 E53 X5 with 205,000 miles on the odometer., and my symptoms were a/c blows cold on drivers side and always blowing heat from the passenger side footwells and the rear . Replaced my heater control valve unit and now it works great. The dealer wanted to charge me over $5,000. They told me some blend door actuators went bad and the only way to do the repair would be to remove the entire dashboard to get to those parts. I fixed it for $75 and one hour in labor. The dealer wanted 5 grand plus…Imagine that…🤬

    I changed my 2011 BMW X3 XDRIVE28i Water pump, thermostat, radiator hose to reservoir, the reservoir, topped the coolant to right level but now since watching this video, I never thought of the heater control valve. I'll order the part today and have at it. I'LL write back and let you know how it turned out. It looks simple

      That’s awesome work dude! Glad you’re taking care of some many trouble spots (as they age they become problematic) all at once. Looking forward to hearing your outcome once the heater valve is replaced!

      I guarantee you can do it with some practice and experience. Though this job was pretty simple in terms of not having to remove a ton of parts to get to the valve, dealing with coolant hoses is always a pain as they can be hard to remove in tight spaces. And removing that charge pipe is also simple but painful as it takes practice to learn how to exert force again in tight spaces. But if you start trying simple and/or easy jobs and getting the practical physical experience, you will soon find yourself doing more. The hardest part is just starting, it takes a little courage. Find a friend who can help provide tutoring and encouragement. And start collecting the tools.

    Hoping that my replacement valve will resolve my issue... i ordered mine a week before i found your clip.... when NOT using a/c.... just using fresh air face vents blow cold..... when flipped down to legs, it blows hot air.... change it back to face, and the cold fresh air is back..... knurled blend/mix rotary dial is set to Max cold.... hope its the valve not getting voltage to the solenoid....

    • @turbospool
      @turbospool  Před 8 měsíci

      crossing fingers for you! It does sound as if your valve could be stuck open and thus constantly allowing hot coolant through the heater core. This SHOULD be closed if you have the temp setting to max cold. There are other possibilities, but this is the most likely one. Good luck!

      @turbospool  Před rokem

      @@abdulelahalkhaibari4350 that sounds more like an issue with a blend door actuator or the IHKA (the climate control panel). I recommend further diag to pin point it

    Just wondering, you said you didn't have heat on "your vent", did you have heat on the passenger side?

    • @turbospool
      @turbospool  Před rokem

      I meant i had SOME heat on the driver side, freezing cold air on the passenger side. Thats why I started out with checking level and doing the bleeding procedure because that set of conditions is TYPICALLY indicative of low coolant. When that didn’t fix it the next step after having found no faults was to replace the heater control valve :)

    Hello. How do I know which one to start with. Thermostat-control valve- water pump. It’s not blowing hot air and after about 20-30 minutes it starts to rise up like it’s overheating. One time I just kept on trying to warm the car up and it actually got warm. But was that just the engine being hot? Please help. I know I can change the thermostat and I’ve watched enough videos including yours I feel I can change the control valve maybe even the water pump but I need to know which one

    • @turbospool
      @turbospool  Před rokem

      Don't force it. I used a 90* pick to get between the plastic of the barb end, and the inside of the hose. Then I pushed the pick to work the 90* around the plastic to break the adhesion between the rubber hose and the plastic barb. Then it should pull off easily

    • @turbospool
      @turbospool  Před 6 měsíci

      Hello! No, unfortunately this is more likely a problem with the blend door actuators OR the IHKA (the AC control panel) itself. But note- IT IS NORMAL for it to only blow on the floor outlets when you have the temperature scroll selector rolled to red. So try rolling it to blue and see if you have air to your face then. This would rule out an issue with the IHKA and point more to the combination of settings you are presently using. Hope that helps
