What really got me about the anime is how perfectly captures how over the top those two are. They’re playing 4D Chess with a sports announcer but everyone else is playing checkers and the chaos that ensues from all of the interactions just gets me every time. Love is War is easily my top 3 fav anime ever!
Or they're not even playing checkers, but a co-op game where everyone can win if they just show their cards, but no. These two are too smart. They overcomplicate every single thing, and it's a mutual tsundere off until at least one finally gets over themselves! I don't know how it ends, but I assume the best end is for a simultaneous mutual confession.
What I noticed throughout the series is that both of them are extremely smart (obviously) but they are smart in different ways. Kaguya is better at planning ahead while Miyuki is better at adapting on the fly
So something fun to note the whole reason why the intro is done twice is because originally Kaguya was just a one off chapter. It was because that one off was so popular that the Mangaka decided to make it into an entire manga and so manga had to repeat the stuff from the one off. It's also poking fun at shows that repeat an intro too much. But it's mainly done as a nod towards the history of the series.
I went into S3 of this anime thinking the gag has surely played itself out. How do they keep it going for another season? But S3 is actually the best season. Its such an amazing series the whole way.
It's because they actually do progress as the seasons progress so it doesn't feel like they are stuck in place. By season 3 it's basically a facade. They know' we know' basically everyone but Chika knows.
I dont usually watch romcoms, but this one is just too amazing to pass up. glad you finally discovered it, looking forward for your next reaction
What the... I didn't know they were announcing Maki that early in the show! (the very last scene). That's crazy XD
Also it's funny to realize that Shirogane's psychological explanations were probably correct for at least one of the girl ^^
Maki is foreshadowed all over the first season if you pay attention
She wasn't just in the last scene, she was in the OPs, the three girls Kashiwagi was with when they teased her would be bf... She was all over the place and it made me crazy thinking how she's going to be relevant during the manga days 😂
Funny that when Shirogane started misinterpreting how girls laughed at Tsubasa, he actually got Maki's inner thoughts right lol
So glad you're going to start watching the dub! I love your reactions and I know a lot of anime watchers only watch subbed stuff, but the dub for this is so fire and I haven't seen anyone else react to the dub.
I would highly recommend rewatching episodes you watch in the English dub. The narrator is so different making each version a unique experience that are both worth watching

Ahhhh, I love this for you! Kaguya-sama will be a nice little break for you. Devious, but wholesome, frustrating (as love is) and funny. You will love it. I want to again urge you to watch Spy Family as well, because it is wholesome and adorable, and the music and animation are straight FIRE. Yor and Loid are hot AF and Anya is the cutest thing you will ever see. Please put it on your list.

Yeah, she put on a whole production just to set up the idea he needed to upgrade, and to this specific messaging platform. So she could get him to ask her number. So she could talk to him after all the rigamarole! Also possibly advertainment for a message app IRL, not sure. But it goes to show how excessively over the top they are while being dead serious about this. This is such comedy.

Wait, if bugs are his NOPE fuel, why did he suggest the mountains? Does he not know that the woods are where the bugs really come out? Take it from a former Boy Scout, deep woods are where far too many bugs live, and where the nasty bugs call home. Side note, make sure you crush ticks sideways, not vertically. This is kind of like Kaguya forgetting she had an old flip phone! Actually, that's perfect. Carry on.

How are they always in a lose lose? They overthink, blocking so much as a casual first date when they already could be passing a 6 month anniversary. They see this as a versus, when they could already be making out or seeing new people and getting over the awkward one time.
They're too smart, so they self-sabotage, and then Chika provides the chaos factor with her honesty battering down their schemes.
Turns out that he just needs to be on the outside to advise someone without overthinking things! Adding to the comedic irony! I mean, he may be wrong, but he's not turning lunch into multiple chess matches.
Bug activity depends on the elevation. Get above a certain height and there are a lot fewer bugs. They're much more sensitive to oxygen concentration than other critters. I've been on mountains before and seen almost none, even while still below the timber line. No knowing how elevated their cabin would have been though.
As brilliant as the Japanese VA's sound like, I can't wait for the Chika's English VA, she just killed it imo.

During the flashback, the girl with pig tails in the middle of the 3 off to the side, she actually has a crush on the advice seeker which is why we see her again at the end.

Never a bad idea to check out the dub and decide for yourself, but imo it is sub-par. The narrator has a few funny lines in English, but its mostly improvised, which can take away some of the long term humor that is built up in the show. Plus his humor doesnt exactly mesh well, and I personally find him annoying. The other characters are decent, but I dont think anyone can out-perform Kaguya's JP VA.
Hoping you'll switch back after trying it out, but ultimately its your choice.
