I've seen people figure out stuff way more complex than this. This would take me hours to solve though
Literally no observable clues or hints that could help you solve the puzzle. You've either got a lot of luck or a lot of time to be able to solve this one.

@@Martinyonkothe essence of a puzzle is that the solution can always be determined with observation and intuition. Trial and error is implied, but without an instruction manual, this one in particular doesn’t look like it can be achieved by intellect. It looks like you yank on it until you accidentally find the solution

Puzzles like these are usually one time unless you want to take the time to actually put them back together which takes like 3 times the time to open it

As a LEGO enthusiast I can confirm they are absolutely not LEGO gem pieces
I designed this puzzle and I have brought this to cube speed solving comps. Many, many people have thought it was a weird 4x4x4 and tried to twist it. I've seen people solve this puzzle in a range from an hour down to ten minutes. I think it depends on what kinds of puzzles you've handled before. That said, this is nowhere near the most difficult puzzle I've designed.
Do you have puzzles that are less painful to reset?
@@pillgrimm Not sure what you mean by painful in this context. The reset of Ice Box is relatively tame compared to most sequential puzzles (usually you have to walk back through the steps of any puzzle that has a sequence of moves). It only takes about 45 seconds to reset Ice Box. Resets do tend to be similar across different genres or types of puzzles. For instance, for most of my packing puzzles the reset tends to be "dump the pieces back out after you solve it". Twisty puzzles and puzzles with shuffleable tokens tend to just be two steps, shuffle and solve. My Stacker puzzle has no reset technically, as by completing the objective you are already set up to do it again in reverse. A lot of dexterity puzzles you just shake around or tilt to undo your solve. So if that's what you mean, then yes there are some puzzles with shorter resets.
i dont get the 'puzzle' in puzzle boxes, it just feels like its 100% trial and error and eventually things just happen. like, theres no hints as far as i can tell, no way to 'figure it out' past 'does this piece slide? no. does this piece slide? no. does this piece slide? oh yea but idk why or what it does for me' and then eventually it opens.
im not trying to be rude, i just know a lot of people do like puzzle boxes and i dont get the appeal, and as a puzzle fan i feel like im missing out

This is not a puzzle. A puzzle can be solved if you possess inherent knowledge. This requires an instruction book.

The puzzle is very difficult at first glance but solvable, you just need to figure out the locking mechanism and to manipulate the connecting joints or parts.

This is more of a safe than a puzzle box. Unless we count bank vaults as puzzles
With many of these puzzles the only skill you need is patience.
