  • How much rot is too much to put on the sawmill? I cut up a large black walnut log with our Woodland Mills HM126 sawmill and discovered just how rotten the log was. Each cut revealed more rotten sections as well as an ant colony living inside. But the results were amazing!

Do those holes in the slabs affect the quality and/or usage of the wood?

      Thanks Johnny!
The holes can reduce or increase the value of the wood depending on the use of the finished piece. Rot would generally reduce the quality of the wood unless it is being used to make something like an epoxy table. If the holes are aesthetically pleasing they can then increase the value the wood.
