- I've used the Woodland Mills HM 126 sawmill for 1 year and this is my honest review. Is it a good sawmill? Is it worth the money? Do I have any regrets? What would I change? I discuss all of this in this portable sawmill review video.
Outstanding tutorial. Thank you for posting.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
On your water supply...maybe try putting a secondary water valve control for setting the flow of the water and use the existing shut off valve simply as a on off valve... at least that is what I'm planning to do with my harbor freight sawmill...good review by the way...cheers
That's a great idea. That would make it possible to be able to make adjustments while I'm running the saw as well instead of stopping, walking to the front, adjust, walk back, test, so on and so forth. Thanks Grizz270!
I don't have the trees....yet, but you make me want to go get a portable mill and get started today! Thanks for the solid review and wealth of information!
Hey buddy! I’m sure you know how to get some trees 😉! And you know you are always welcome to play with my mill anytime you journey east.
Nice review!
Thanks Matthew!
Quality information, as always, Dan! Say hi to J for me!
Thanks Randy. I sure will!
If you don't like green, you're outta luck! Nice review, Mac!
Haha, exactly!
Just got my 22’’ in , going to open the crate tomorrow morning.
Sounds like you are about to have a lot of fun! I'm excited for you.
I bought a 22" Woodland. Milling northern calif black walnut from our yard/ I lost 2 blades right away because my definition of "snug" is not theirs. So I use a clicker torque wrench. Manual says to take off the tension on the blade after use which I only recently noticed. I assembled it myself and it took about 20hours.
I can relate. I didn't really enjoy running my saw until I worked out all the bugs. It was frustrating going out and having trouble with different things while I spent most of my time troubleshooting. But once I learned the hard way, it's been a ton of fun. Enjoy your mill!
@@MacJackal blade aside, I'm a happy raccoon
@@tkpdp I'll eat the two blades. I recently ran a blade 9 hours and it was doing great until I touched a metal post.
I talked to woodland mills and they told me to never use a torque wrench just use the hand tightening method for the blade tension.
Really? Did they give you an explanation as to why that is?
How long can a fresh, live cut, tree be down b4 putting it on the mill? I have a dozen hickory that need taken down but I don't have time to mill them yet.
It seems like the bugs like to get to hickory if you let them lay for too long but the log itself can last a long time if you keep it blocked up off the ground, although Hickory will start to decay the longer it sits, and it can become a bit harder to cut. The sooner the better of course, but I cut stuff that's been laying around for years. I guess it depends on how much rot, bugs, or staining in the wood is acceptable to your application. A dozen Hickory trees will make a lot of beautiful wood!
I don't think this sawmill is the one for me. As I don't have any logs to cut up. But, solid and thorough review nonetheless. If I ever need one someday I'll certainly consider it.
Well although you are currently log-less, one day you might be graced with an abundance of logs and I'm glad I could give some things to consider if that day comes and you decide you would like to put on your sawyers hat and become a sawmill owner. ;)
@@MacJackal certainly got the urge. Damn time is what I don't have in excess
@@aaronschoenherr737 I feel ya there. You can come by run my sawmill anytime you need a fix.
@@MacJackalsounds fun I'll hold you to it!
I love my woodmizer but their are so many little features i like about this more.
Nice! What saw do you have and what features do you like about the woodland mills?
@@MacJackal i have the lt15w
The log clamps. Ours very basic.
I bought a Frontier OS23 in 2019 and while I love owning a mill, I hate that mill. Design, assembly instructions, and function all suffer from half assing it. Wish I had bought something else.
Oh really? I have no experience with Frontier. Do you plan on selling it and buying something else?
@@MacJackal Someday, yes. Not sure what, but someday.
Get a sissor Jack
Yeah that's what I am planning on doing. That should make a simple toe board.
You look like Linus tech tips in the thumbnail
Haha, that's the second time I've heard that.
First!!!!
Haha nice work Aaron!!!
@@MacJackal I have to finish the video to make a real comment 😊
Haha
I wish I had bought a woodland mill instead of cheap Road range 5026
I love my Woodland mills. What don't you like about your Road Range?
@@MacJackal it's flimsy. I need to add some 1/4 inch side plates and on top 15.5 horse predator motor I like my best mill I sold when I quit farming it was built bye Mennonite people very good quality
@@MacJackal upright posts are strong enough. Just the cross pieces are to thin makes it wobbly
I see what you mean. I love that they are pretty simple machines that can be modified to get the job done.
@@MacJackal just need to get to a place that sells the steel I need 3/16 by 8 by 12 feet
It's junk. What u telling mostly nothing.
Thanks
Lol
I found this video incredibly helpful. If this is junk, do you have a recommendation on a quality video I could check out?
