Yes, this exactly! It's like I've been complaining about smart phones since forever.
Windows Mobile (back in 2003...) had a calendar that would show you the next appointment on the Home Screen. Basically, if your phone was on, it was telling you what to do next.
All smart phones today basically require me to go open the calendar app... essentially to ask the calendar... it's like if I could remember to ask, I wouldn't need it to tell me in the first place!
And yeah, there are calendar widgets and stuff... but only after you unlock it, and only if your on the page that has the widget.
Why is it literally impossible to get a device that is simply capable of always displaying my next calendar appointment on the first screen when I activate it.
If it can tell me the time, it should be able to tell me my next calendar appointment.
The biggest tease ever was a program I found once that would kind of show the calendar.... but it would remove an appointment AT THE START TIME!?!?!
So if I have an appointment at 1:00 PM and I looked at 1:01 PM it would say I have no appointments. Or only show whatever was happening at 4:00. How much more deliberately useless could it possibly be?!
Now if it's important I have to set multiple alerts, and since each calendar entry only has so many, I have to make multiple redundant entries so I can set several alerts.. the process takes so much time that I rarely even do it.
And the interruption that comes from an alert at an unhelpful time can be disruptive by itself.
It makes no sense why this is impossible in the modern world.

As you said on iPhone you can put it on Lock Screen which can always be on and also have widget inside the homepage.
You also could have it remind you and then leave that notification on your Lock Screen. With correct settings, only that remains visible. It’s possible, but took me quite some time to accomplish.

I've gotten to the point where I'm holding a rope with one finger over a ledge and no longer care, I've fought for so long with people who mean well but don't understand, so I've stopped explaining, stopped trying and that has lead me to put it to one side because it's never ever going to be fixed 😩😟😕💖.

Please don't think of yourself as broken. ADHD is an execuative functioning impairment. Like my eye site, it is impaired. My glasses are an accomodation that help my impairment and allow me to achieve my potentional. The idea is to find the accomodations for your impairment to achieve your potentional. Keep the faith and thanks for tuning in

My last comment turned into a rant about calendar apps, but really I wanted to point out how often it is that people suggest an app to help me keep organized or something. And it's the one fatal flaw of every app.... I have to remember to open it...
And the only exception to this is one that would provide a barrage of alerts... and those get ignored at almost the exact same level that they become useful.
And this is to say nothing of the problem that occurs between *thinking* "I should open that app up to do something" and unlocking my phone, and seeing an alert, and responding to a text, and then locking my phone and putting it right back in my pocket, now having completely forgotten that I was going to look at whatever the app was in the first place.
    "ADHD Friendly App" indeed...
In my humble opinion, as soon as a developer strings those words together (or something similar) it immediately proves that they do not understand the problem even a little bit.

    key points from the video:
People with ADHD often struggle with working memory, which can make it difficult to use apps that require them to switch between screens or hold a lot of information in their head at once.
There are no digital organizers that can help people with ADHD organize their digital information.
If you're looking for something to help you with ADHD, think about it as a thinking impairment and look for something that will make thinking easier.
Don't just jump at the first thing that comes along; take the time to think about what you need.

I couldn't have stated what you just said any better. I'll only add the glorification of technology via apps is often having those with ADHD look for solutions in the wrong places.

I’ve tried most productivity apps at this point, but they really don’t work for me. Much prefer my notebook, calendars in most rooms, and papers I can shuffle round.
I do love a good Gannt chart program though.

I hear ya. Do your best to find accomodations so you don't rely on it so much. It will take a bit of self-awareness and work but if you do it right life will be easier. Thanks for posting.
