    I personally think that the shadow leviathan is inspired from the black dragonfish for its use of its black skin to blend in with the darkness of the ocean, can use bioluminescence for attracting prey, communication and hiding

    the noot fish is also probably inspired by the slingjaw wrasse! it’s best to see in video, but basically they look like an entirely normal fish up until they spot prey, when they go SCHLOOP and their jaws/mouth shoots out to catch prey. the american paddlefish also kind of does this, but they naturally have a long nose and inside get a wide mouth. ALSO, the oarfish ( the main inspiration for the reaper leviathan ) can also do it, just not to the same level.
    EDIT: i finished the video and i’m SHOCKED this wasn’t mentioned: the shadow leviathan is definitely inspired by the black dragonfish as well! although really small in real life, the black dragonfish is almost as pitch black as the shadow leviathan, and they have little bioluminescent spots on their cheeks sort of like the shadow leviathan does too! they were also one of the main inspirations for the alien from the Alien moves. the inspiration is a bit more obvious when you look back on the concept art for the shadow leviathan!

    The Brute Sharks reminds me of the Tigrex from the MH series, like they have similar color schemes, and Tigrex is a "brute wyvern".
    And the Chilecerate looks like a fish that's got a crab claw as mouth.

    6:34 Don't say obvious! I thought they would have been arctic wolves! In the PDA it says they're pack hunters, like wolves. Arctic wolves are also white, as to camouflage so they can sneak up on potential prey. Although their AI is more like a bear since they don't normally form groups while chasing you

    4:00 , I get that there are penguins but it's color scheme resembles a emperor penguin, also it goes on land and under water like a penguin and It also has a small beak and they even hunt fish in ways that penguins do. My conclusion is they play the role as seals and a type of penguin

    IRL penguins actually have sharp bristle-like teeth along the inside of their beak and on their tongue to better grip and swallow prey.
    I don't see why people find penguins cute, they're a spawn of satan.
