- My windshield got a big almost 35cm crack like the one on the video and at Carglass they told me it can not be fixed and needed glass replacement (700 euros). So I will try my luck with DIY repair kit I bought from the internet for 65 euros for big cracks. The seller provided me with a helpfull DVD of many instructional videos and I posted the one I am going to use.
I will come back with some results later... - Auta a dopravní prostředky
This is the best windshield repair video on CZcams
A lost art. Instead of repair we’ve developed a disposable society. Thanks for sharing
It’s sorta a scam for the simple reason it’s not repaired but temp fix don’t think you can leave it like that it does need to be replaced
I dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the login password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Hassan Gideon Instablaster =)
@Alan Abdiel i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process now.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Alan Abdiel it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
I knew that it could be done, but I was a bit of a skeptic with that long of a crack. That’s quite impressive. The only problem I’m having is that I can’t find a shop that will do it. All the shops I’ve contacted only want to replace which could be different then my JDM windshield.
No shops really repair something that large, the chances of it spreading after the fact are too great and we have to deal with frustrated customers more often than we want to
This is why you need a boyfriend
Wow. I never knew it could be repaired 😊
Great job! Keep up the good work.
Dang just my luck. I was thinking i’d patent that new fangled control arm until he said it was already patented. Guess I can’t make one of my own now. This guy is always like 2 steps ahead of me.
lol
He's got the 9" fangled control arm, you can do the 10" fangled control arm. 10 minute cracks
hey man I had a drink one day while I was repairing a windshield & I ended up drilling through the windshield through the driver's seat and through the floor pan in to the car park asphalt into the earth out the other end and I ended up in downtown China!
There's a whole new meaning to a crack expander over there!
I ended up with a black eye which has nothing to do with your brown eye!
But alas Tonto I am back home all tucked up now.
+Burt Purvis hahahahahahahaahahha holy shit
+Burt Purvis this hilarious hahahahaha
You need more likes in your life, my friend!
Right on man! Lol
That's about the dumbest shit I've seen, but god damn it made me giggle like a little girl
This came out pretty good, i would consider doing this on nostalgia cars or totally cars with no spare parts. I work in the autoglass business, but no insurance company will cover any repairs larger than an inch or two. Crack, def no no. To pay us the actual fee for doing this work above, would end up beeing what the deductable for an entire windshield swap would be. Thats true in Sweden / Norway anyway.
Wauuu!! I didn't know a crack like that was possible to fix!
Hi, thank you for sharing this helpful video. I think so far this is the best DIY video for repairing cracked windshield. Other video offered us to hear the guy talk everything that nonsense and off the topic.
That's really an expensive tool you bought for windshield repair. I bought mine just for $15, Rain X brand.
Have you done your project yet?
Good job! Repairs save land fills and customers money.
Ron Fleet Yea I think this repair is only 80 to 100 dollars compared to 300 to 500 for new glass
I was under the impression that these companies repair the cracks and bill the insurance companies for a brand new glass.
@@ryans413 depends on glass. some cars if can be put to 2000. bucks.
Impeccable work good job
0:30 Do you use diamond or tungsten carbide? And what shape is the drill bit tip? Round/flat?
Absolute genius.
I like your glass kit. I wish you put the seller. Thank you for sharing.
like magic, loved the video
no use of a vacuum pump, interesting. I always thought the best fixes are done with them. You did a really good job on this, considering the age of the crack....6 months...damn.
You are right. Best repairs are done with a vacuum (on rock damages which are your stars, bullseyes etc.) but that crack is so wide open there was no reason to use all that equipment. The resin and Mylar capping plastic would’ve done the job. When the crack is open enough to feel with a nail (as that one was) you could drop anything in there and it’d fill almost immediately.
That is very interesting. I always wondered how that worked.
Great video...thanks for sharing.
where can I buy the kit that you used in this video?
Negativ:
- 1080I resolution

- Good job! Congratulations!
how i get the tools i want to buy the tools of repairing wind shield
Hi, My company have some store:
You can make order:
www.glassmecahnix.eu
www.deltakits.eu
www.gtglass.eu
www.windshieldrepair.eu
Thanks,
Pal Briak
Is this possible in India if yes then please reply me anyone who know it.
Curious why, after alllllll these many years, you never updated your video description with the brand of the product you used, or a "years later" follow-up.
Finally some succesful video. People trying to do this without the pressure. They just apply the liquid and wait for the earthquake...
FYI...The reason most glass companies won't repair cracks longer than 6" is because (or should be) because it is a structural issue. The windshields are part of the structure of your crash rating and must be full or as close to full strength as possible to protect you in an accident. So yeah, you can cosmetically improve the looks (somewhat) with this method, but it is still damaged. To each his own...be safe!
Russell C this is a great trick to keep from getting a ticket. It's a hefty fine for a cracked windshield. $29 < $300
That's a great skill, good video.
excellent post
The windshield of my tractor is cracked in many different ways, would this work for that? I have a bottle of laminating resin just sitting around which is what i assume that liquid is.
What drill bit is being used here? Any good suggestions?
Same here my crack is much smaller but they cant repair the crack but want to replace the entire windshield. Can you use petroleum vaseline as a lubricant when sliding the suction cups along the crack. Where can you buy that tool and two part resin. Can you use clear acrylic resin?
Amazing. I always thought that with a long crack in the windshield it had to be replaced.
Michael G your windshield will spread its not repaired just temporary fix I won’t in this industry for 80 to 100 to repair or 50 dollar difference with insurance let the insurance pay 💰
It really should be, safelite in my area won't do repairs on cracked windshields. Only small rock chips under the size of a quarter.
@@newmenalejandro1362 That's right, this is 90% cosmetic and the area will always be weak and may be vulnerable in different ways whether you're caught in a hail storm or driving on bumpy terrain, but I still wouldn't hesitate to do this quick fix.
Very impressive!
Does anyone know if this really works? Does each crack really need another Bulls eye and more resin? What took is used to as a Bulls eye tapper?
In most cracks you don't even have to use that... Just run the resin with the tip of the resin bottle... Follow the crack and it will fill the crack with resin as you follow the crack line ..
Thank you for probably one of the best videos on the subject of spider crack windshield repair that I have seen. Question arises: if the windshield cracked as a result of something hitting it from the inside (a ceramic mug), does the repair have to be done from the inside, or is it assumed that the cracks have gone through and through and you can just repair it from the outside?
Im in Houston, who would u recommended to fill a crack ? safelite wont do it. mines on my new Challenger. About 13" long. Thanks
where can I find a shop that does this repair in California ?
This guy says "crack" more than former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.
LMAO! As a Canadian and an Ontarian, I can appreciate this joke.
Remember when he walked right into the camera
would like to buy your tool however i did drill got a bulls eye and th plastic tool used could not get the vaccm and i had to scrape the resin i poored over the crack a month ago using the mylar tabs it cure in the sun, after doing all this i still could not get the resin traveling through the cracks from the impact site? Can you help me and how much those your tool cost? thanks.
4+2 drops = 8 drops.
Thunder 88 according to our current educational system, the answer to that equation is CORRECT!
8 is the new 6..
hendrix was close with if 6 was 9.
oh well
its metric duh lol
depends on how big each drop is
😂😂😂😂
😄
Why creating a bull eye at the end and not just a hole? I am afraid this could cause another source of damage
Thank You 🎉
Hi, where did you get the windshield repair bridge? Ty!
Couldn't u jus fill the first couple inch or so n be fine?i is already cracked to the top of the window why fill it?just fill the other end n I'll be fine no??.
i always free hand the cracks, they always turn out because i take my time but this bridge tool is really nice
how do you apply the resin free handed?
The reason why they where to replace the windshield is because, (I am a tech) after the crack is longer then a 6 inches (a bill note or dollar), the is a safety issue with repairing the windshield. the Resin after it cures becomes harder than glass. windshields are made to break a certain way, to much resin will alter this, and could honestly be a huge safety hazard.
correct. this is just someone being a cheap ass
How much does a repair like this cost????
@@e.nicholelewis1561 probably 1-2k for oem at dealers.
@@e.nicholelewis1561 Emily, it depends on the tech. I'm in Wichita Ks, I'm a player @ $75. Crack repair can be very smart. It all depends on where, how old, and so forth. The dollar bill rule is an invention of Safelite Auto Glass. I think it's funny that they use a dollar bill as the metric. Because really that's what it's all about the dollar bill they want to sell you a new windshield all the time and always. Search out a good windshield repair service in your area. ROLAGS is the standard (ANSI). Good luck dear.
I'm getting mine done Saturday. Safelite is coming. The crack is almost 8 inches. $381.19. Not bad. I was thinking over $1,200.
"Patented extension arm"
Litterally just a piece of metal.
😂
Lol, I got a chuckle out of that too. Who knows, maybe that was his idea of a joke (and he was just really serious sounding about it, lol).
Watch out: “literally just a piece of metal” may have already been trademarked!
If you were the one getting rich off the patent, you wouldn't be saying that.
That is how the patent system works and why it should be abolished or heavily modified. It stifles innovation and competition in most cases.
Hey just bought this but i have failed to used it even after the video. Can u help
Looks good but how rugged and long lasting is the repair? How hoes this repair hold up if vehicle is driving on terrible pot holed streets like New York City?
what kind of resin you using?
is it possible to fill deep scratches with this resin?
Advice me how to flex the windshield near the bottom of it. I have long crack that just appeared and it’s 1 inch above the wipers( in the edge of the dashboard ) I tried pushing the windshield but it’s not flexing and resin is not going in 😔
I need this guy right about now. Just for a little 1 inch Crack these knuckleheads are telling me I need to replace the window. Problem is, I have a BRAND new car where less than 5,000 of them are driving around in the US and the windshield is very limited
Nice video and wants to know if the resin have expiry date. our repairs do drain from the cracks after repairs within 3-4 days after repairs. any advice. thanks.
