  • In the beginning you will see Brian and Ricardo rolling out some new bins as well as taking away the older bins. Waste connections decided to use their own floater drivers (drivers who cover an open route) to do this roll out instead of a third party company. Mainly due to the fact of the third party company breaking their bins.
The city has now entered the 2nd faze of their attempt to reduce contamination. Unlike last year where everyone was given a 96 gallon bin. People who had a 32 was upgraded to a 64 and people with a 64 was upgraded to a 96. People with a 96 was offered an additional 96. The routes that got these bins were chosen based off of the contamination rate of the recycling bin.
People would probably get a bigger cart, but many can’t afford it due to how expensive the bins cost. For reference a 32 gallon bin cost $51.40 a month. 64 gallon bin cost $102.80 per month. And a 96 gallon bin cost $154.20 per month.
You will then see Sergio in 202 and George in 402 collecting on their normal Friday route. Which surprisingly light. Usually their Friday route would be 3 loads and they’d clear around 2-3pm. Today they did it in 2 loads and cleared by 10:30am.
Lastly you will see VJ in SJC11 on a reassignment route. Who recently got his new truck and loves it.
Thanks again to all the drivers in the video for letting me film.
