    Another point about antiperspirant a lot of people don't know! The aluminum molecules in antiperspirant are too large to be absorbed by your skin and make it into your bloodstream. We have decades of research showing no correlation with antiperspirants and cancers. Some people do develop a sensitivity and can't use antiperspirant without irritation, so they may choose to only use deodorant. But, you don't have to use "all natural" deoderants to be "safe", unless there are ingredients in store bought deoderants that your skin can't tolerate either.

      @@shelby6 Blocking sweat glands can lead to serious skin problems, such as pimples, skin infections, and even skin cancer. However, according to the National Cancer Institute and the US Food and Drug Administration, there is no conclusive evidence that using antiperspirants and deodorants causes breast cancer. (Since that's not where the product is applied)
      Long-term antiperspirant use can increase the risk of cysts due to the continual blocking of the sweat glands. To help reduce the risk of cyst formation, people should wash and exfoliate the area of skin regularly. People with hidradenitis suppurativa should avoid using antiperspirants that contain aluminum salts.
      Sweat glands do play a major role in eliminating potentially harmful substances, even excess prescription drugs, as well as in controlling temperature, Dr. Khorasani said. The glands are distributed all over the body, not just under the arms.
      “Our body also produces urea, which is the nitrogen byproduct of protein metabolism,” he said. “Luckily, the sweat glands are not the only way of eliminating urea, as the kidneys do most of the elimination. Therefore, there is not a significant buildup of biological waste with the use of antiperspirants.”

    • @YuBeace
      @YuBeace Pƙed 6 dny

      There are different kinds of sweatglands, the kinds that create sweat that is more likely to smell bad are located in areas that don’t even benefit from the sweat. (Armpits, between your legs, etc.) So stopping sweat there has little to no effect on temperature regulation.

    I take a shower, apply all the skincare, and then use the antiperspirant (I have a rolling generic one) and then go to bed. It works wonders! I’m not as sweaty and I don’t smell! I can go on without reapplying for 2-3 days, before I take another shower.
    On especially labor intensive days or summer heat days, I have a spray on deodorant, which I apply when needed (just wipe down armpits with a wet wipe or a wet towel beforehand).
    Works like a charm, I never smell and my antiperspirant and deodorant last me way longer. Try it out, it’s worth it

    • @CJM279
      @CJM279 Pƙed 22 dny +5

      @@bolimeful How is it bad for your health? You know people can (and do) sweat from other areas of their bodies, right? So preventing sweat on the underarms is a non-issue because you will still be sweating in other parts, which I understand you’re trying to imply is necessary for health, and I agree with you. Sweating is definitely important for the purpose of eliminating toxins in the body. But again, the tiny underarm area does not absolutely have to be allowed to sweat to maintain one’s health since you will still ooze sweat from your scalp, back, butt crack, thighs, and everywhere else
thus, you are still able to eliminate toxins on a regular basis.

    Antiperspirant is GENUIS between the thighs Ladies, to avoid that rash!! It’s not uncomfortable like lotion is, it lasts a very long time, forget feeling moisture, if needed, extend that application towards your crotch area (there’s lots of sweat glands), not past the bikini line for obvious reason (stay away from genitals please, or talk to your doctor before if you’re not sure).
    I’ve now started wearing dresses again!! And not being worried of having a painful rash throughout my day, and ruin everything, that was so relieving. Soo mom always said to dry our hair before bed time bc we have cultural superstitions about how sleeping with wet hair can ruin your eyes
 not sure about that but it’s not really comfy anyways !
    My parents use those deodorant crystals 😂but I can’t use the hardcore deodorant anyways bc it makes me feel really “stuffy” like over heated lol. So I don’t usually wear if I’m home 😅

    IM LEARNING SO MUCH. I always sleep with my hair wet and I have such a problem with yeast buildup on my scalp if I go a few days without showering.
    So, can you leave your hair damp during the day and let it air dry or do you recommend blow drying every time?

    • @DrSamEllis
      @DrSamEllis  Pƙed 13 dny

      Thank you! You can let it air dry during the day but if you struggle with yeast build up I recommend doing a quick blow dry at least at the roots just to keep the moisture off the scalp (even you aren’t completely drying it that way).

    And now people mistake their normal deodorant for an actual antitranspirant that you can only get at the pharmacy. The stuff in stores that's labelled antitranspirant isn't actually that.

    Tip #1 is clearly from a blond who doesn’t shave đŸȘ’ during the morning shower. If she did, she’d know you can’t get a close shave with a layer of antiperspirant on. You have to apply AFTER. Have never seen this doc before and will never watch again.

    Question, so I apply my retinol after showering and drying my face. Then I wait 20 minutes to let it 'soak in' and then apply my moisturizer after. Should I change this to have less of a time so that I can apply my moisturizer sooner after the shower?

    • @violets-for-roses
      @violets-for-roses Pƙed 27 dny +1

      If that works for you it's all good. You could also do the retinol sandwich which means you use the retinol on top of a layer of moisturiser and you put another layer of moisturiser on top of the retinol. It's so good when you have issues with flaky and irritated skin.

  • @jcm4923
    @jcm4923 Pƙed 24 dny +2

    I wish you would urge people to use a deodorant and not an antiperspirant because antiperspirants almost always contain aluminum which is highly toxic. And with antiperspirants, you get a double-whammy because not only are you APPLYING aluminum into your skin, you are preventing your skin from REMOVING aluminum from your body which is done by sweating and other means. To learn more, read 'Imagine You Are an Aluminum Atom' by Christopher Exley.
