Useless trivia: The reason the wheels rode on the back plates was only to decrease friction (reducing surface area) to make them even faster. GREAT VIDEO!!
Stunning in every way. So much nicer than stock. The color is flawless, and the rocket motor is supreme. I would be proud to have that in a collection.
This is especially interesting for me. Shell stations were not in my area as a child. So this is a Hot Wheels history lesson as well as a great restoration. Thank you for saving these cars.
I appreciate that you discuss the history of the car and show the steps and discuss the reasons behind some of the choices made. I’m especially interested in the different assemblies of wheels and axles for different cars and different means of reassembling them. Great video as usual.
I think you should just go with what makes you happy. I'm sure there are going to be purests out there that get butt hurt but it's toy cars! It's YOUR toy cars. Do what you want😀
This came out great! Love the color change and the polished booster. This was one of my favorite cars in my collection when I was a kid. It went on every mission. Mine was yellow and I still have it. Would love to do a resto like this one day. Those wheels look fantastic on this model. Thanks for sharing.
You know what I love about this channel? Seeing someone who clearly loves his hobby, and wants to share that passion. More than a relaxing voice, more than useful information, I have a reminder there are little things to enjoy in this world. Thank you for sharing!
I like how you come up with new methods to do things. I enjoy the challenge of a badly damaged car or trying to restore a car where parts are not available as well. Cheers.
I think this is how the designer thought it should look but then the bean counters came in and reality hit and the highly polished rocket just was not possible to make their profit. It’s amazing to think how a company can make such an item for children at that time and still be in business all these years later. Amazing toy then and another amazing restoration from you today.
This is the biggest improvement to the look of a car I've seen you do. As a kid I might not have taken the original pink thing, even for free. Turned out beautifully.
Your videos no matter which one would not for me my friend, I think you did a fantastic job. It looks better in blue then pink anyway, I think the wheels work just fine. I have watched a lot of your videos my friend, I may not have commented on everyone, it's your video you do what you want and I will watch it my friend thank you for sharing.
I agree I wish they made backing plates too. Your 3D printed ones work great! Maybe Hong Kong has spares at their factory? Redline looks so much better than the old original scheme. The chrome rocket motor is awesome!
Nice video - I think your decisions about what could be done is very practical Please keep up the great work - your comment about a set of technique videos highlighting the differences and options is a great decision!
There is sizeable viewership of your channel, that simply love to watch how you work on the cars. We won't get bored, don't worry! As always, thank you for making great videos!
there is something satisfying about watching people do something that they are passionate about, it feels real and important and its a nice change of pace from a very "dramatic" world
Turned out great. Never even knew that they made a bare bone version of this car, when you first showed it, I was like, hey, that car isn't quite right. Lol
I do so enjoy your channel. You are always coming up with something that I think, "why don't they do such and such"? Great info on the wheels. I have a blackwall Rocket bye Baby and have resisted opening it because of the wheel situation. Thanks again for being one step ahead of everyone.
I love the new technique using the metal flake basecoat. Also, that Windex color is my favorite Spectraflame color. I'd have polished the engine as you did too. You're the best at this that I've seen on CZcams. Marty does great things with Matchbox. But, when it comes to Redlines, you're the man.
My thinking on your WHEEL project. LOVE IT! Most WH restoration guys are about aesthetics not function. I never hear complaints about how they roll.. Only how they look! Most guys build, admire, place on shelf...LOL...
Outstanding work and finish! I never knew this one existed before but it looks good. I like the repo wheels , paint and polished jet engine. The technique of painting in silver then Spectraflame makes for a nicer finish I think. Thanks for sharing this neat tutorial.
Brilliant result, looks great in windex blue with the mirror polished rocket! First time I've ever seen this casting, kinda looks like Wile E Coyote's daily driver lol.
Hey I like it I can’t afford to have original redlines in new condition but I would love to have a collection of restored redlines to this quality Great job sir
Very nice finish, my parents had a 70' SS Chevelle the same shade of blue. I was almost convinced you pulled a sneaky and had the rocket chromed. I'd bet this would make an interesting mad max build 😂 cheers.
I am so inspired by how far your restorations have developed! It gives me great ideas when I restore my Matchbox models - currently working on box art for the Matchbox models. Not just the main front image but for those boxes which had a side elevation of the model on the side flaps, an inset of a feature or the white line art. Your videos have given me the confidence to try many things! Thank you!
One of my new favorite videos you produce. You do an excellent job of explaining, and showing your work. I really enjoy your work and I hope you keep producing wonderful restoration/ modifications. Great channel.👍
Looks great. Would love to see the your working headlights technique used for the rocket exhaust - drill out the nozzle for the LED, hide baters in the empty rear of the car and run wires up the rocket post. Keep up the great builds.
Your restoration looks great 👍. Thanks for the video. I appreciate the step by step explanation. I plan to get into restoration myself soon and this really helps. (I keep saving copies of your videos in a separate folder 😂). Take care.
@@baremetalHW I did! My dad even let me have some of his friend's cars from the 60's and 70's, a few of them are actually fairly valuable. For the ones that aren't, I plan on restoring them as close to original as I can, especially my old Thunderbird I've had since I was a baby.
Useless trivia: The reason the wheels rode on the back plates was only to decrease friction (reducing surface area) to make them even faster. GREAT VIDEO!!
@Kevin Shawn Nice spambot jerk!
@Remy Anderson friggin spam!
LOVE the mirror-polished finish on the rocket engine! So pretty!

Super chrome
Look them up
@@jonsilvestro3359 yup!
Really like the mirrored rocket. My daughter who just turned 8 is in love watching you "polish cars" as she says. Love the work.
Not once have I ever considered restoring hot wheels cars but I always enjoy watching your videos

It turned out great looks nice, paint job is perfect.
Yup!
It turned out awesome and I absolutely love the polished rocket on top 👍👍😊
Yup! It’s Really REALLY cool!
Just when I thought I had seen all of the RedLine Hotwheels, along comes one I never knew existed.
Very choice!!!
@@baconemore what?
I never get bored watching your restoration videos.
I can watch redline restoration vids all day long.. FANTASTIC !!!
Great video and I appreciate all the courtesies shown for your regulars. Thank you for that.

The mirror polish came out great. I always enjoy watching you do your projects.

I really like the blue on blue, window/paint combo! Nice work. Thank you.👍🏼🤘🏼😎
Awesome restoration! I really love the spectaflame light blue you used for this car!

Cute little Car. Fine restoration . The new color looks very good.
I WAS expecting something MORE than that! But that’s ok
Great restoration! Love the new wheel set up you made.
This is the biggest improvement to the look of a car I've seen you do. As a kid I might not have taken the original pink thing, even for free. Turned out beautifully.
It’s really interesting when you share the history and your knowledge, looking forward to more

I LOVE this guy!!! Great HW restoration info and R&D. And a wonderful History Lesson about Mattel.
Awesome Color Great job!
Great job on this resto. I’m sure anyone who owned this one as a kid would love it even with the modern updates.
Thank you for your videos. I find them enjoyable and soothing. A great trip back to my childhood.
Joel Jenkins - Except, of course, nobody did amazing restorations back in the 1970s!
Very Cool restoration Sir. Love how the rocket came out when you polished it !!!!!!!!
It looks great! And those wheelcaps work fine for me! And that engine!!! Man that looks sweet!
Nice video - I think your decisions about what could be done is very practical Please keep up the great work - your comment about a set of technique videos highlighting the differences and options is a great decision!
A great choice of color! That blue really makes it pop!

I like the ‘stock’ restorations a whole lot. Great video 👍
As usual, knocked it out of the park. Love the polished jet cowling. Windex is beautiful
These 70s space age designs are always so amazing.
Quite possibly your best restoration yet. Love the blue color
Love the shine on the engine.
I remember these cars . My big brother would collect them when my family was on vacation.
Turned out great. Never even knew that they made a bare bone version of this car, when you first showed it, I was like, hey, that car isn't quite right. Lol
The engine was a great choice. The polished/chrome look is fantastic!

This versions better. Looks cleaner without the gimmick. Good call on keeping the video quick and adding in that interesting bit of history!
This is one HW I've never seen. Came out perfect. Color and wheel caps are Good. Good Job.. 👍
Great result, and great idea on rectifying the wheel issue!
Cheers
OMG the polished engine looks awesome!!! More of this please!
You are surely very clued up on the Hotwheel cars it turned out really good👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very beautiful, love you polish the rocket motor, it looks amazing. Thank you for sharing your story. God bless you and your family

You are a genius. You should make those cap style models public.
That engine all polished up like that is beautiful.

Getting bored? You are an artist
Even you put a video about a pebble, I watch it
Love it! Perfect color and it looks great with the rocket motor polished.
This really looks spectacular. I agree totally with your personal choices here.
Turned out great and the polished engine is my favorite part.
This car is my favourite Hot Wheels car of all time. I've got a battered up one just like this. I might think about restoring it now
It is an easy one to do so give it a shot.
Absolutely stunning. Love the shape of this car. Great job restoring her.
As a regular viewer, I actually like in-depth steps to everything. Doesn’t get redundant for me, but I can understand if others don’t fee the same.
Turned out great. Nice touch with the black on the engine.
Great looking restoration.
Color looks good.
Whoa. That engine turned out better than I thought it was going to. Love the color as well. Great work!
Really nice job. Looks much better than the original. Paint job is excellent. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
Very cool, awesome work 🔥🤘🏻
My patience is rewarded, thank you for another great video!
One of my new favorite videos you produce. You do an excellent job of explaining, and showing your work. I really enjoy your work and I hope you keep producing wonderful restoration/ modifications. Great channel.👍
Awesome restoration. I love me some Windex blue cars.
That color is stunning
The back plates were larger because when on track they had less friction and the car ran faster down the track. beautiful job as always
Looks great. Would love to see the your working headlights technique used for the rocket exhaust - drill out the nozzle for the LED, hide baters in the empty rear of the car and run wires up the rocket post. Keep up the great builds.
The super polished engine looks great!
Love that mirror polish.
you got it quite right its exhaust nozzle i love what you did with the black paint on the rocket engine nice touch

I really like this build. I really really like the color! It’s really slick
Had to go to my parent's house and grab all my old Hot Wheels cars after watching a bunch of your videos lol

Excellent results, color looks great with the windshield
As always, Paint job was amazing 👏🏻👏🏻
Great restoration, nice job using the printer to fix the wheel issue!
It's cool watching you restore some beyond gone cars. Especially if the oxidation is horrible.
Great video! I remember that promo from Shell gas. I wish I still had those cars.
looks great!!! really appreciate your attention to detail. admire your skills!!!!!
It came out great. Brilliant idea for the wheels.
Looks great and I LOVE the mirror polish engine.
Cool color and great addition to the rocket
I like this one and your solution for the wheels is really good. Nice job.
