    My wife and I finished baby step 2 back in 2011. My wife and I went from obese to normal weight over the course of this year. We got sick and tired of literally being sick and tired. We set specific numbers for the scale. Dave is right. Once we set a specific number then it made it obtainable.

    I'm laughing because this morning, I started my post Christmas ritual of sitting down with a new 5 subject notebook and writing down my goals for 2018. I brainstorm things I want to accomplish and I pick 5 personal goals a year, then I journal each idea. If the goal is too big for one year, I start another notebook and break it down over 3 to 5 years. I write up a pros/cons list for each goal to figure out what I should do and SHOULDN"T DO for each goal in order to achieve it. Great stuff. (P.S. After listening to the video, I think I'm gonna take Dave's advice and set some other goals to complete the Wheel of Life. That sounds like FUN!)

    I think with Goals people just need to set realistic things. I have my list of 10 things I want to do and I don't allow myself to add anything else without accomplishing something on the list. A vacation, a purchase, attending school, save up money for something specific... Etc.

    • @grindhouserob
      @grindhouserob Před 6 lety +2

      You said it, Isaac. The main word being "realistic". Most people are not. If the average person slowly takes 10-20 YEARS to get out of shape, what makes them think that they can get back into shape in the first 10-20 DAYS in January? They need to have a realistic and tangible goal in order to succeed.

    I have a question regarding careers. I work in a grocery store as a cashier, and I've been trying to find a way to grow my career. I was applying for a lot of jobs, and I got offered a job as a mechanic for a dealership. At the same time, the grocery store i work at offered me a promotion to one of their departments where I would make more money. What should I do? The mechanic job pays less, but it is better experience for the future.

    I am debt free because I never want to stress about money EVER!!!! I am debt free because having no debt gives you open doors to invest like crazy, and give whenever I see an opportunity without worrying about the amount I decide to give. Being debt free has so many good things going for it, and it just gives you ultimate financial freedom.

  • @kleptolad
    @kleptolad Před 6 lety +1

    Okay I have to ask this. Why does Dave talk about changing your family tree!? Your family tree is a diagram of who married who and who are the parents to who. Following your baby steps doesn’t change that stuff and it drives me CRAZY! Am I missing something? Please educate me!!!

    • @brendaspamperedkitchen9878
      @brendaspamperedkitchen9878 Před 6 lety +1

      Rasputin Thorpedo It's a metaphor. Each generation has habits, how they handle various situations in life, one being money. Let's say you have in your family history a grandfather who was a gambler, and any money he acquired, ie earned he gambled it away. This could be using the stock market to get rich quick,or investing in something without really knowing what it was and losing everything. Or sadly, it could be actual gambling, as in going to Vegas and plunking down 1000's of dollars only to go home again, losing everything and thensome.
      I'm certain you get my point. He's not talking about changing your literal family tree, but bad habits that have been built generation upon generation. This system works and can radically change you and your family's life and future.

    • @droptozro
      @droptozro Před 6 lety

      Same concept. Lay out how much you want to make this year. Set the goal higher than you think you can actually reach, that's what a real goal is set up to be. Then lay it out month by month how much more you'd have to make to get that goal by the end of the year. Then figure out what you're going to have to do to make that occur(second job, freelance, entrepreneurship, side jobs). Or you could be looking for a new job overall while working your current job.
      Longer term you're likely going to have to learn more skills to help the marketplace but short term for the year it's easy to set it up--harder to do because it's a lot of work! : )
