No, Bengali Women Don't Know Black Magic. Stop the Misogyny! | The Quint

  • One of the many conspiracy theories around actor #SushantSinghRajput's tragic death was that his rumoured girlfriend, #RheaChakraborty, a Bengali, had done black magic on him. This sent the internet on a frenzied spiel about Bengali women knowing black magic and using it to entice men. The Bengali women at The Quint tell you why all this is just a misogynistic piece of hokum.

Men fear what they do not understand. Women in Bengal are more Independent than women in the rest of the country. Bengali's usually are not conservatives and mostly the middle and upper class are quite progressive. Hence, Bengali woman are more Independent, outspoken, retaliatory and do not put up with the non-sense that women have to put up with Elsewhere. My cousin refused to change her last name after she got married. Our family said it is her wish.......as it should be!! If women are equal to men then what do you mean by keep your women in control??? We don't control our women they control themselves. Maybe if men in rest of India understood that the mother that created him is also the shakti that can end him, you would not be disrespecting women like this! We as men need to learn that mysoginy in India is still well and alive and that we must all do our part to make it more fair and more equal for all of us reardless of gender, religion, caste, age or language!

in a way they are right, bengali women are mysterious and magical, i remember i went to Kolkata for durga pooja and was taking pictures when a beautiful middle aged women with sleeveless sari below bellybutton approached me, in the car she popped acid in my mouth and after a night of crazy sex, inthe morning on the breakfast table, when i was bit nervous, she told me her husband is in merchant navi and was away, man i was still buzzing and shell shocked, i checked the eye of the fried fish that if it was a hidden camera or not.

Dosa eaters..but their girls stick to marrying their own guy and don't try to act smart and avoid all these by marrying some North Indian...I am saying what you are doing is not wrong...but being liberal only works when everyone else is liberal...and trust me India is still very orthodox and conservative...and being a boy many Bihari boys told bengali girls are really horny and an easy catch...that is why you see many guys dating bengali girls because they are easy catch...but trust me many times they don't marry Bengali girls and even if they marry they kick the girls out within few years...if you think I am lying check the internet

If one dreams of looking cool and practice nationalism he/she can adopt any other regional culture. In stead day by day in Bengali marriages, 'mehendi', 'sangeet', 'DJ style celebration' and lehenga choli had been becoming 'indispensable' parts. Even the menus are reigned by 'North Indian dishes'(to all who would argue over its' popularity or palatability, I would like to remind that Indian cuisines are much more vast than these restricted number of dishes).

The first step to eradication is acknowledgement by the sexes. The present generation is more conscious and I'm hopeful the patrilineality and patriarchy in all its forms, will steadily be removed from the entire state. Patriarchy is no "less significant" than northern states, coz crimes hppn in bengal as well. Haryana, UP, bengal all these states have bride trafficking "culture", do u hav any idea abt this? If rapes, molestation, eve teasing, slut shaming, male gaze, stare, domestic violence hppn in those states, it hppns in bengal as well. Any idea abt Kamduni gang rape & murder case? Bengal serial chain killer incident recently hppned in 2020. Thr r mny in the list, perhaps u shud do a lil bit research abt whats happening in bengal. Women hav to chng surnames aftr marriage & go to husband's house, children follow father's surname, women hav to wear sindur, sakha pola, wear burkha, male priests exist in temples(except nandini bhowmick who broke the stereotype).
