- We have been using now the DJI Mic for 3 months - I didn't care too much about this product in the beginning as it was released right in between the DJI Action 2 and the Mavic 3 drone. But now, I've been testing it and tweaking it to get the most out of it.

We'd love to get them, but you can't buy them any place. Originally it was supposed to ship in January 2022. Then it was delayed to March 2022. Now apparently it isn't supposed to be available until April 6, 2022 (according to B&H Photo).
It is nice that people with very popular youtube channels got them for free though.
The Sennheiser wireless system is the gold standard in broadcasting and it is really good. I've worked with these mics forever. I got a RODE WiGO first edition and now the DJI Mic as well. I'd still say that the Sennheisers are superior to the other two in terms of signal strength and durability. In live TV I would not go with the DJI or Rode because the do cut out if you are not in line of sight. Also if you are in an environment with a lot of WiFi signals, they can interfere.
All that being said, in terms of convenience the DJI Mic wins hands down. If you are not doing live production and will be doing post anyway, the on-board recording will solve any drop out issues.
But how much is a good sennheiser? The dji setup is under 500 for everything.
@@CluelessEngineer yeah but it's like comparing a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes Benz S Class. Both will get you there but the quality is not the same. Don't get me wrong I love my DJI Mic, it's great but it's far from broadcast quality and reliability. There's a reason why live television studios use Sennheier systems and it's not because they wanna spend more money.

Nice review! I have a one quick question
Did it ever get dropped due to clumsiness? As it is tiny in size, so was concerned if it would withstand 3-4 feet of accidental drop.
I have some difficulties with using the DJI MIC; the signal between the receiver and transmitters is not stable enough; I have to make the transmitter/recorder recording at the same time, then pull out the audio file from the transmitter and add it in my post to solve the signal issue. 2nd, you have no way to conceal the transmitter without using a lavaliere mic, but the problem is there is no locking component on the transmitter's mic jack, which means it is easily pulled off and screwed up.
Even with all the problems I have with the DJI MIC, it is a great audio gear for content creators. For client works or any serious works, it is better to go for a piece of more professional gear, such as zoom f2, tentacle track E, or any other similar product at the equivalent level.
I have a dji wireless microphone that I had included in the pocket 2 combo and I found it very practical. I would be interested in buying this microphone set because it can record my voice and that of my husband who occasionally make videos together. Question: If I am around filming and I keep turning the camera off and on to film if I leave the microphones on do they have a battery saving system or do I have to turn them off every time? Knowing I forget to turn them on and film with the microphone off.

It took months but I was finally able to order one as the last piece of my travel setup. The DJI Mic has been extremely hard to come by as it seems that everyone knows how good it is, and the supply chain issues seem to be impacting manufacturing. Im so excited to test this thing out and it should be a huge improvement compared to my mini rode mic.
be carefull, if you will use it indoor, and you have 2 routers, 6 wifi devices, and some wireless mouses with 2.4Ghz receivers, you will have a lot of interference problems, even at 1 meter !!! i'm disapointed ! i'm going to switch to UHF systems
One important thing about the Sennheiser is radio transmission range and signal strength. It's WAY more powerful with a much higher range that goes through walls and human bodies. The DJI runs on an extremely crowded WiFi band with much less power and requires line of sight. It does not penetrate through obstacles the way the Sennheiser will. The Sennheiser uses a much lower frequency band with much longer wavelength and a TON more power.
What you mention is something that is definitely worth noting, but with these “new gen” mics being able to record at the transmitter, it kind of makes it not such a big concern for a lot of users. But yeah, there’s definitely advantages like you mention that people should be aware of. These early reviews of the DJI are helpful to see but pretty dang biased
They have internal recording also so really NBD if the audio drops off.
I believe that’s also because Sennheiser operates on 1.9Ghz instead of 2.4. It helps keep an uncluttered channel for less clipping and interference. As long as you get a lavaliere mic for the DJI with a low noise to signal ratio, recording with backup makes it relatively foolproof to get great audio.
That internal recording fixes the range issue.
Yeah the DJI Mic will drop signal if you block it with your body within 15m so I would definitely not do live television with it.

It's super easy to guess which mic produce which sound at the end, because you're using the DJI mic since the beginning of your video, and mic A sound sounds similar to it. I just can't believe the DJI mic sound quality difference to what Sennheiser can give. Obviously, that's huge..

Did you have to change the audio quality in post? I have heard that the sound quality out of the box is quite tinny.
I need HELP. I can't seem to find the answer to this problem. When I first start recording with the mics, the volume comes in much louder. After about 5-10 seconds of talking, the volume adjusts to a normal level. I've tried moving both the transmitter and receiver db's around with no success. I had the same issue when using my shotgun mic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

I had the same question. There is another video on CZcams (Stewart and Alina - Best lavalier microphone for DJI mic? 8 tested!) that goes over this. His best recommendation was the Shure MVL lavalier mic.

Hey so does it record directly the video? Does it have a way to input into your camera recording or do you have to sync in post? Also does this work with the Pocket2?
Record directly the video, but also have an option to record the audio on each transmisor, like a "Back up"

Do you know if the DJI Mic receiver will fit into the lightning port of an iPhone 13 Pro when using the SmallRig Video Kit, or will the cage block the Receiver from fully attaching?
It works with a Moment Case but I doubt it would work with a cage. You'd have to get a dongle
I don't like A or B mics, but I prefer A out of the two. B had way too much wind noise.
How do I adjust transmitter gain? I don't find that choice in the menu or in your video.

Will this work with the original osmo action camera
mind blown... trying to get into compact audio/video/photo system... this with a 14 pro a gimbal and a monopod.... done. 90% of what you need in a small back pack. add 2 ....yn-300 led compact lights (remotely operated) and stands and there are going to be very few instances you are going to need more
The only thing Id worried about purchasing this unit is the integral battery - itll probably only have a 3-4 year shelf life then the unit is useless.
I have Rodelink kit - it maybe bigger but I don't have to worry about redundancy

I prefer the sounds of the Sennheiser. But, everything else is DJI. So I pre-ordered one. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.
You can use a good quality lav plugged in for much better audio quality. There's some tests with lavs plugged in. Much better low end

The Rode Wireless Go II microphone revolutionized sound recording during outdoor interviews. Then came the DJI Mic microphone, which presented improvements but leaves a doubt in relation to the competitor: which of these microphones is better. I would like to see a comparison of the two microphones recording sound indoors and outdoors.
Just the fact that to use Rodes backup audio you have to use their software and download 1 clip at a time. Versus Dji where u just plug into your computer and grab all the clips you need in one shot makes a big difference

From what I've heard, the Røde Wireless Go II sounds cleaner and sharper. The DJI has a muddy sound, would need EQ to sound decent.
@@Libsenth I bought the RODE's a friend bought the DJI, the RODE seems way more hard to distort, so RODE'S better.
I record live music in bars - do you think these microphones would work for that or are they primarily for speech?
it will depend on how much you expect and how much you can pay. they will do the job. but for music specifically I think there can be better options

Nope, the DJI mic is only capable of a clean 48/24 - which is all most people need. The f3 could still record a 32bit file, but at that point it’s just extra space, not the same as an actual 32bit recording. I was recently looking at that same setup, and this is what I was told ;)

The excuses used to not use the Sennheiser is absolutely ridiculous. If you get professional rechargeable batteries you can use them almost all day. That little crappy DJI mic isn't better.

B Mic sounds better than A Mic. It has more bass frequencies. No wonder. It has a bigger membrane than A Mic. And it costs more than the complete DJI system. The wind noise depends on the wind protection on the mics. Nevertheless the DJI Systems seems to be very good. I would use a Sennheiser Lav Mic in combination with the DJI System. Best of both worlds. The range of distance is not really important. 90% of the action during filming happens right in front of the camera or at least in the same room. But what happens if the talent with the mic turns his back to the camera? Is the audio signal still stable. You should test this, please.
How have you got the levels/gain set? I just started testing mine today and it’s not sounding anything like this.

alright I did some more testing and things get a lot better if the values in the camera are down (I use 5 of a possible 31 on my ZV-E10) and the values in the transmitter/receiver are up (I have both set at +10). that eliminates most of the white noise and gives a cleaner sound overall.

Ive been watching content on the dji mic for the past few weeks weighing up whether they were the right purchase for my needs. Im apprehensive as i have a few concerns, so when i saw your video pop up i was quite excited as i thought this offer me some answers. Unfortuntley your video left me disappointed as only half of the video is related to the dji mic, and the other half is just covering the same points yourself and other youtubers made on the initial announcement of this product.
From the title, I was hoping to see more hands on experience of the system, showing any quirks in its performance and any considerations to bear in mind.
In particular, i have concerns over the lack of locking mechanism when using a lav mic with the transmitters and also the lack of lock switch on the internal record button of the transmitters. Have you had any issues with these at all?
I shoot a lot of weddings so i have reservations over these two points in particular as if the lav disconnects or the internal record button is pressed during speeches or the ceremony i'm f@#&ed!!
Please dont take offence to this, i do understand that making these videos requires a lot of time and effort, I'm just after a bit more reassurrance for a purchase.
If you could give any feedback on these points it would be greatly appreciated 🙏

It seems very interesting, I have a question though : as a tv Professional for decades, I know the main issues with mics comes when you try to hide it properly on someone clothes without sound scratches. Those mics are pretty big compare to a Lavalier, it seems difficult to hide, no? Same, due to the size, if hidded, wouldn't the sound be especially scratchy (a larger surface area in contact with the clothing) ?
It has a magnet you can use in it. Ya it adds a lilttle bulk inside the shirt. But it’s easier than dealing with wires.
Xvive has released U6 that is smaller and sounds very good even hidden in clothes. Check out RED35 CZcamsr.
To be honest unfortionatly B sounds way better so i kinda knew its A is DJI....

I personally hate the sound of that mic. Sounds broken and thin and there’s this very odd distortion it does to everyone’s voice.
The problem with built-in battery is that once the battery is spoiled, you have to replace your whole unit. But for short term use with low frequency of usage, the DJI mic works great with some interference issues.
And still can't buy it in Germany :D

You can use a lav mic with this for even better audio quality. Which is what I'd do if I used this

I got my dji mic but the problem is I can’t take hot shoe adapter out. It’s to hard. Type c n lighting is also hard. I didn’t like it

So the amazing performance on a windy day has absolutely nothing to do with the sennheiser, its all about the microphone, the placement of it and the windjammer that's on it. Educate yourself dude.
I love my DJI mic but sheinizer are better ! You can’t say that dji mic are professional. If you want a really good sound, go with xlr mic !!!
This mic is appalling. It's noisy on the internal mic and absolutely rubbish with an external lav and doesn't accept locking lavs. I would have to denoise everything every time I use it. It's going back. The rode wireless go was much better.
Sennheiser sound better compare to DJI mic.
