    Just did the Rallitek Bilstein shocks and stuts on my 2021 Xtrek Sport and found my bushings were going. Although pricey I went with the Forged control arms with the newer polyurathane bushings .. my mechanic thinks it's the 2" lift that's the cause. 🤠

    • @TheAdventureZombie
      @TheAdventureZombie  Před rokem

      Probably true. It does put the front control arms at a greater angle which will wear those bushings out faster. That's kind of a known factor going into it, but the bushings aren't bad to replace. As they say, got to pay to play 😁

    Nice to see you back on! What symptoms were you experiencing that gave away the bad subframe and LCA bushings? Not sure what part of CO you’re in, but if you’re looking for a pretty long and tame ride, check out Coffee Pot road. It’s closed for the season during winter, but it’s a nice 26+ mile ride :)

    • @TheAdventureZombie
      @TheAdventureZombie  Před 2 lety

      @Tom the Dilettante Trying to get back into it anyway, lol! I can send you a picture, but I was actually sagging in the rear drivers side, and it was wearing the tires all wrong. I only had the ability to jack it up so I took it in and had a Subaru tech look my rear suspension and subframe over, and he found my control arm mounts in the subframe were both bent. Plus the bushings were shot in the subframe as well. As for the LCA bushings, I just noticed significant tears when I had the front tires off, and figured it was time. Too much send I think :p
      I'm near Ft Collins, but I'll for sure look that road up, thanks for the tip man :) it's been tough finding stuff in this area since there is so much private land.

    Hi! I have in my 2016 the Rallitek Bilstein B8 3" lift kit with the K02. That's a total of about 3.5-4" lift. How did you solve the axle angle change?
    Great video!

  • @Dakiraun
    @Dakiraun Před 2 lety +1

    Whoa... that's a hell of a decked-out Crosstrek! I _just_ ordered one yesterday for myself. Where were you able to get the custom bumpers and tow-hook setups for it? And did an off-road shop do upgraded suspension or did you do that yourself?

    • @TheAdventureZombie
      @TheAdventureZombie  Před 2 lety

      The bumpers are F44 Offroad, and I was running RalliTek's full suspension and armor lines. As far as Crosstrek parts no one offers better than those two companies.

    Do you do a 5 tire rotation with the full size spare? Or is that really needed? I've read that subarus need to have all four tires to be the same or close to the same diameter within 2/32 of each other.

    • @TheAdventureZombie
      @TheAdventureZombie  Před 2 lety

      Yes I always do a 5 tire rotation on my Crosstrek. The AWD system Subaru uses is very sensitive to tread depth. So if you have one tire, ie the spare, with no wear on it, it can make the car shift funny because the AWD keeps thinking it's losing traction. So yes the 5 tire rotation is important for Subarus. Unless of course you don't have a full size spare, then it doesn't matter. You'd only be running the spare temporarily.
      That being said, if you do happen to pop a tire and you need a new one, that should become the spare, and only used as a spare. The tread depth would be too different from the others. If you happen to need 2 tires, you actually need 5 :/

    • @TheAdventureZombie
      @TheAdventureZombie  Před 2 lety +1

      I have a RalliTek 2" top hat spacers lift with RalliTek 1" lift springs in the front and rear. The rears are overload lift springs for heavy gear loads. I'm also running Bilstein B6 struts. Check out RalliTek, they have suspension packages pre built :)

    After all your mods you stated that at one time you were down to 14mpg but are now back to 27 or 28 mpg. Can you explain how you did that?

    • @TheAdventureZombie
      @TheAdventureZombie  Před 2 lety +3

      Yeah, it was just taking off all unnecessary stuff on the outside. My roof rack, cargo box, recovery boards, shovel, and water/fuel cans. Plus took all the extra gear out of the inside.

    You know…Subaru should come to guys like you for advice on their new “wilderness Crosstrek” -you’d probably say: “put the 1.8 liter turbo with the 225 ft pounds of torque in it and maybe an automatic transition instead of a CVT!? If you had those 2 upgrades your rig be unstoppable!

    • @TheAdventureZombie
      @TheAdventureZombie  Před 2 lety +1

      My reckless driving off road, lol. I hit so many things with my control arms and trailing arms I managed to bend the points on the subframe where the control arms attach. I also bent the front tabs that hold onto the rear diff, and all the bushings in the subframe were toast. Yes, my car is a year and 3mos old, lol

      @@TheAdventureZombie I have a buddy that has an older XV (The blue one that's been in some videos) and he drug the sub frame so much he had to replace it as well.
