- I believe this is my first video demonstrating our International moldboard plow. We plowed two hayfields on Saturday that we are hopefully going to plant sudangrass in. Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching!

I could watch plowing for hours. It seems to relax me and reminds me of my boyhood days on the farm. They were some of the best times of my life.
The tractor and plow are like good dancing partner. Thanks for the great video.
Dad loved plowing, he loved the smell of the fresh turned earth.
My grandfather owned a dairy farm parents were brought up on farms but they never Farm themselves. I believe it's in my blood to be a farmer because I personally would love nothing else better than to be out in those fields. Working from home instead of being on the highway in rush hour traffic every day. As a young boy I spent many hours out in the fields with my grandfather plowing baling hay seating and it was hard work but I loved every minute of it. Sure lots of my friends and family said buy a farm but to start from scratch seems like an Impossible Dream plus the hard times the farmers have these days it's just going to be a dream. God bless the farmers without them in this day and age we would starve and that's why they deserved more help from our government.
Those flat top fenders is where a young man gets a good education. I ride in our 806 a lot of hours just like him . God bless and hang on or hook your boots under the seat.
I spent the best times of my childhood on the fenders of a 1932 Allis-Chalmers.
Nice equipment , doing a great job
That’s music to the ears!
I always loved plowing so mesmerizing and peaceful and the smell of freshly turned soil
Дуже гарно спостерігати, як працює стара техніка. Гарна робота, цікаве відео.
Greetings from Ukraine 🇺🇦✌️
Began my career on an 860 Ford with 3-14s. Got a little older and was promoted to 460 International with 3-16s. OMG talk about pig heaven. Loved plowing under vetch and red clover.
I just love see ground turned with a plow. it take me back about three score years. man what beautiful soil . the best to farm people who ever you are and where ever you live . the best to this family . my first time seeing you all .
Raised on a dairy farm, 1967 international 706 diesel plowing with international 5 -14’s. We farmed 700 acres, I spent lot of 20 hr days turning over dirt. Thanks for the video!!!
I just love moldboard plowing! Great job on the video!
As a teenager I spent a bunch of hours on an IH 560 pulling 5 14's. I look back on it now and wish I could do some more of it.
About 45 years ago, a friend bought a 40 acre farm 45 miles from my small farm. He asked if I could load up my old Farmall H and 2 bottom plow and plow one of his fields. I agreed. When I was finished plowing, I noticed that my wallet was no longer in my back pocket. Well, that's the end of that wallet. Turned under for sure. About 10 years later I got a call from my friend. He had bought his own tractor and when plowing the same field, he turned up my wallet. What are the odds? Everything in the wallet was in pretty good shape.
Good job, people!!! Cheers from Argentina!!
Hey guys, good to see you finally got comments enabled on your videos! Engaging tractor nerd mode here, that's an IH 550 plow which was originally a 5 bottom. Obviously the rear bottom was removed to reduce it to 4 so now it's a 540 "in spirit." Looks like the 856 barely even notices it, could easily handle 5, possibly even 6 bottoms in that ground. I'm not a big fan of pulling the guts out of 50 year old equipment if you don't have to, so I'd call it a perfect match.
Could be a 826 tractor
I love to watch the dirt roll. Gradually going away with the no till.
Plowing was always a favorite thing for me I have in my seventy one years plowed with a two mule walking plow riding plow small tractor trip plows to in the seventies four bottom semi mounted behind a ford 7600 I miss it.
Grew up on a mostly IH farm, but we must have had much tougher ground. We only plowed the terraces to keep them up, so we had a 4-16 plow. Our 856 could barely pull it fast enough to keep the soil rolling. One year Dad tried to use our 706, and that was the beginning of the end for it. We had bought it somewhat recently under the impression it had been overhauled; turns out, it wasn't and had been band-aided together to sell it. That was too bad, I really liked that 706. Later we replaced the 856 with a 1456 that was turned up a little, what a difference. Could pull that plow in HI 1st all day. Could also pull the neighbors V-Ripper with all 7 shanks in the ground 20+ inches deep, as long as we put all the weights we had on the front.
I've ridden along on that other fender with you guys many times 🙂
Nice work sir trash all buried
Just watching that dirt turn over love it
I love watching a mold board plow in action. Here in southern Missouri we use to do that every spring. The bigest we ever had was a 3 bottom though. Thanks for sharing.
Great job very clean. My granddad would be proud of your job!
woooow you guys are doing a great job. the tractor sounds perfect and the plow is just unbelievabls .....thums up guys keep the good work.i have my 744 international but am have hardships with spares and a good mechanic.
My grandfather had an international 806 a 1967 that's when he bought it and that was his favorite and I really enjoyed drive it and that tractor had some tork to it besides using it out in the field we used it to pull out stumps and pulled them to the brush pile an outstanding running tractor
great video Keith.
I loved riding on the tractor when I was a young boy.
I spent countless days plowing when I got older too.
Thats a beaut farm Y'All have there
i love plowing videos, not many farms do it it any more.
Watching a plow to me is like watching a fire or a stream. It's mesmerizing.
Set just right!!!
Man, your dad runs that plow with such precision.. he's good.
856 is a beast!
Get one tgn
Some good ploughing there, and the soil was lovely.. almost ready to put the seed drill straight on it.
Nice plowing! we plowed with a 5 bottom IH,16" with an AC XT190!
great video, i loved it
Thanks for sharing the video! I plowed many acres with a 540 4x14" plow behind our 656. Miss those days!
The plow is adjusted properly. It is doing an excellent job of turning over evenly distributed bottems.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account??
I stupidly forgot my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Beau Israel instablaster =)
@Rodrigo Darian Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Rodrigo Darian it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
@Beau Israel glad I could help :D
Nice video, a good job your plow is set right the points look sharp smooth plowing. Growing up the largest plow we had was a Massey Ferguson 4.16's moldbold plow pulled behind a Massey Ferguson 285. Today I have the same plow MF 4.16's pulled behind a 1990 Massey Ferguson 3070. I believe my MF 3070 could handle a 5.16's moldboard plow in the sod ground we have around here with no problem. Which some is packed tight clay. I always enjoy plowing. Your International sounds and did good. My Grandpa always had Internationals. My dad had Massey Ferguson's.
Good job . dads pretty good at it too . like them lines
Great camera work! I appreciate all of the interesting angles shown. The slow-mo work was nice too.
Had that same plow with an 806 D . 540 IH plow. We have clay soil hills and sandy creek bottoms. Turning 115 hp. Used on Oliver 5-16 plow for flat ground. Worked very well.
Nice job , buried everything , lovely soil for ploughing .
The soil you have is lovely much better than the shale I was in today.
My grandparents had a farm years ago. We had a IH 656 with a IH 540 plow chief 4-14. Could only plow about 1 acre an hour spent a long time on that old tractor. A few years later I was interviewing for a job on a large scale dairy operation the owner asked how many acres I had plowed I told him approximately 120 he said that just one field on his farm. Then I told him what I was using and how slow we had to go per my grandfather instructions. His eyes lit up and I got the job. He said old school is the best training possible. I worked there for 2 years before he sold the farm
Nice plowing video! Always enjoy watching that older IH equipment.
Nice texture to your soil, having it in grass keeps the organic matter percentage higher.
I always go center out alternating with edge in to ferry less in between rows.
Thats a really nice job you are making there.....that plough is a nice bit of kit too so is the tractor.
Looks like it plows good
I really enjoy watching y’all the whole family seems to like what y’all do.
Not a rut - it is called a furrow. An 856 normally pulls a 5 bottom and in some soils it would pull a 6. I have seen one pulling a 4 bottom but that was in Black River Gumbo soil. That ground would make any tractor say TOO MUCH - TOO MUCH! You can put a 5th bottom back on the rear of the frame you could find one laying around.
Those tractors were built to work!
Thank you for your videos really enjoy them
Thank you, loved it.
Great job filming
Thank you!
Great work on the camera! Love watching the old Red Iron plow the field. Might want to try adjusting the coulters an inch or two land side. Clean those furrow walls right up. The ground looks beautiful! ❤
My father would say that every plow bottom was another gallon of gasoline an hour. His old JD model A used 3 gallons of gas an hour. He never understood that it is acres plowed per gallon of gas or acres per hour that counts.
Thats a nice plow! I still plow with the same model on our produce farm. Could try sliding it over 2” or so towards the furrow though. She’s taking a big bite on that first bottom. I did it on mine since we always use the same tractor now. Made it look like plush carpet. Good vid! Not a shaky mess!!!
I spent a lot of time plowing on an 805 with a 5 bottom IH plow when i was growing up. Good times!
806
Running a international and wearing a JD hat !!
Ha! I sincerely apologize for that. The Deere hat was free. In this day and age, free is good!
Keith-
Ben Schmidt JD has to give away hats....cause they charge three prices for everything else!,
@@samrumade9429 8yrs ago we bought a JD 5210 with a loader and blade. My brother bought a new combine from the same dealer 2 days before. After paying for the tractor, brother and I walked out together, and had to BUY our hats!
That is pretty sad of that dealer after buying a tractor and a combine the week before they should have given the hats to you guys I'd quit buying stuff there
Plow is set up perfect, great soil, and a great tractor. What more could a farmer want?
Those IH diesels were the best.
That plow and dirt are AWSOME !!! I don't know where u are at but that soil has oat field wrote all over it . I have always wanted to bottom plow mine but I would pull to many rocks up . Lol. Nice video!
A 4 bottom, that tractor can pull!
I think the harmless farmer did some repairs on a 856 awhile back..
Many, many, many hours on an 826 pulling exact same 4 bottoms.
good dirt
It appears as if it was shortened from a 5 bottom model
Like buttah!
I think we have that plow. We only use it once in a blue moon, but it does all the work. I hate hooking up the 3 point hitch for it though =p
Hi Kieth- What variety Sudangrass do you drill? I just bought (110 mile round trip to Albert Lea, MN) three 50lb. bags of Hybrid Viking 100 Sorghum/Sudangrass for Green Manure/cover cropping to get flailed and eventually worked into soil, for veggie production.
Great action, really good ploughing, but where are all the Birds ?
That's our plow... with our tractor... wth? At least you all have good taste =p (a little bit different tractor, but not bad)
If it's not red, leave it in the shed!
Hello from Warriors Mark Pa.
Joendeer hat😄
All the new tractors have "jump seats". When I grew up we had fenders...
Thanx for sharing the video am planning to get into farming. Already thinking to purchase a tractor that will help me at my farm.
We used to plow everything except bean ground. My brother went minimum till in 81. The young farmers around here don't know how to plow.
Ever have to use a subsoiler to get the hardpan broken up under the surface? Watching, and making plans to own my own patch of ground in the future, so I have no clue about some tools of the trade, or how effective they are.
We've never had to use a subsoiler. I suppose it would depend on soil type and machine traffic on the field. Our soil is well-drained with a mostly sandy sub soil.
Looks to me like you need to tighten up the bearings in the right front wheel
🖒🖒❤❤❤❤🖒🖒
Plowing a thing of the past. With no till around. The smell of the ground.
I still do it but I’m not farming for a living.
Plow needs moving about ten inches to the right
try that four bottom plow in Tennessee clay
Yes, I feel your pain. We have a few clay knolls here, too. Thankfully it's not widespread.
Keith-
@@KeithFinkFamilyFarm we have a little clay mingled among mainly rock here in Central N.C.
👍👌
Where are you and what are you doing now Keith ?.
Ha! Yes, sorry, seems like we've gone away. Still here, farming as usual. Just very busy. Hank is the one that is most often behind the CZcams camera and he works in town full time now, so his filming opportunities are somewhat limited to evening milking time. Everyone else is busy this week with our county fair but maybe I can persuade someone to film an update next week.
Nice plough doing a good job but wasting a lot of rime turning on the headlands . The tractor is nicely matched to the plough though .
Where can I find the cutting edges for an IH plow?
I haven't purchased them in quite some time, but I would imagine that they are available from multiple outlets. Try www.shoupparts.com
!!!.
Holle
How many HP does that tractor have?
you need to adjust that plow, move it to the right
Yes, the first bottom is taking too big of a cut.
What tractor is pulling the plow?
That is an International 856. 1969 vintage.
The fourth colter doesn't appear to be going very deeply.
Full set of coulters are. make better job
Can you PLEASE tell me the origin of your farms name? I was raised on a Jersey farm in VT.. Really "Miss" the "Girls".. GOO I.H. !😊
Although our dairy farm has been in the family since 1890, it didn't have its official name (Organ Echoes Dairy) until the very early 1970s when my dad gave it that moniker. As a kid, dad taught himself how to play the organ. He has been a church organist ever since. Of course, dad had an organ in the living room and would play very early in the morning and throughout the day when he was taking a break from the farm. He played loudly and in the pleasant weather months when the windows were open we (and the neighbors) could hear organ music echoing off the surrounding hills. It was probably a comment from a family member or a neighbor about the echoing organ music that caused him to give that name to the farm. Dad has long since retired from the farm and now lives in town, he's approaching 90 years old but he still has an organ in the house and he still plays almost weekly in church.
Where was your farm in VT? Earlier this year Laura and I visited VT and stopped in at the Billings Farm and visited with their Jerseys.
Keith-
It seems strange to hear the plow is turning "dirt" over. My dad always said dirt is what you find under the sofa or bed, this is soil and it ani't dirty!"
So whats the next step ?Do you run a disk over it after turning soil over like that?
Yup! We will usually run over it a couple of times with a disc before we plant
What number tractor. 706 gas?
International 856 6-cylinder diesel
I like narrow fronts better
