- In today’s VLOG, woke up at the camp… early, bit by a tick, cycling Yubari to Furano, another day on the road with my new Swiss friends, nice downhills, not having service for a while. Anny panicked, my first fathers day, Alpine resorts, quiet Furano.

Wow on the drone shots! Green, green! Countryside is fantastic!Happy Fathers Day Matt! Didn't find this video until this morning (Tuesday)
Japan is beautiful,
Furano is famous for their lavender fields.. lovely purple fields. But sorry, it is a month too soon for that. I was in Furano and Biei ... but I was a 2 weeks too late! :(
That scenery was insanely beautiful.
Happy Belated Father's Day! Ja-Yoe!
Happy Father's Day to you bud!
Happy Fathers day to you Matt
happy Father's Day!!
I was even becoming worried about you. Great work as always.
Matt, you have a backpackers tent. A single layer one. I believe that is what they call it. Condensation tends to build up on the inside of the tent and will probably drip on you. It's less of a problem with a tent that uses a rain fly. Usually they have bug netting on the top and a rain fly above that. More ventilation and less likely to condensate. Still it can happen on those too! Happy Fathers Day Matt!
dbkguy It adds extra weight and Matt is only camping when there is good weather.
Love from Hong Kong! Keep up the awesome work~ was supposed to be at jeju island at the same time as you but got delayed due to passport issues sadly... till next time haha
NEXT TIME! :)
Happy belated Fathers Day...
Happy belated Father's day
If you have the coin (not a ton) you can use one of those spot devices. They report to low earth satellites your position at some interval. Also, allows short status messages and can alert emergency services all over the world (except the poles).
You can also rent those devices. For stretches where you are long out of cell range.
amazing, following you so closely, and when you get to Melbourne, Australia in the future I'm going to hopefully track you down to say hello!
Great call on the 7-11s! Those convenience stores in Japan saved me on my own travels thru Kyushu. So many great options - and like you mentioned, not a knock on the restaurants, but rather a compliment to the convenience store. Really miss the onigiri/triangle rice & seaweed snacks. Keep up the great vlogs!
I dig it.
thanks boss... i was a vlog machine today
you know you slept well if the light was blowing .. wish i was there.
JA YOE!!!
That's a proper Deputy Dawg hat lol
Do they make an efficient bicycle generator for charging up your batteries?
Hello. Nice Journey, loved following your trip around japan.. Planning to go back to Japan this July, I'll be brining my Mavic Air. Any tips in flying drones in Hokkaido? Are there any restrictions in flying, aside from places near airports?
Not being able to Chg. Was Not your Trailer in the PAST a Chging Station ? So love seeing Country over city ... Thank for the VEIW. SORRY ANNY... Tis what the COUNTRY DOES !
Condensation or Leak ... sound like a Ventilation Problem ?
Get yourself a sat phone and rock on!
Watch Out for the Japanese giant hornet, as they do kill...! I just seen this thing on the National Choreographs Channel where they went on to say how a few people were killed by them, and that they are on the rise, in population.. But great job on this video blog, I'm really getting in to watching as you meander on through the Japanese wilderness..! Grate Job... Ja Yoe...!
Zachary Mohrmann They are still very rare though. Japan is big place and giant hornets are actually very small, honestly!
I am glad to hear that...! It is only the flying insect species to which I am allergic to, Bees, Hornets , And I am sure wasps, as well as some of the other stinging insects, from what the doctor had told me along time ago.. ! Just was worrying about his safety, that's all....
Zachary Mohrmann I quite understand love, my Mum has several lethal food allergies which she has to carry an Epi-Pen for. I know quite a bit more about Japanese Fauna and landscape because I'm currently studying about it for a short series of essays. I've been really obsessed with Japan and the Japanese people for many years, so watching CZcams videos about the country is ideal.
I hope to travel there one day but a/ it's extremely expensive to fly there from Scotland and b/ I'm chronically sick and disabled. Japan is... not the best for disabled access. I bet Matt will see far fewer disabled people out and about in Japan than the US, the same being true in China. It will always limit my ability to travel unfortunately. Which us where CZcams videos come in!
I am sure you are correct, but why chance fate..!
Wonderful vlog! Beautiful countryside and you seem to have found some fun riding friends.
Might want to check into a satellite phone as well, I have a Globalstar phone and it works in most of the world - I think China, India and the southern part of Africa aren't covered because either they don't have earth stations there or for political reasons. Rates are reasonable, only $65 for 100 minutes per month, and an extra $10 to have lifetime rollover on your minutes. Might even want to look into renting a sat phone for areas you know won't have cell coverage if you don't want to get locked into a contract. I have no connection with Globalstar, just a satisfied customer.
A dab of Vaseline will suffocate the tick in a couple of minutes. Then, you can just pull it off. I wonder what else does the same?
A tranquilizer gun?
donald dicer A small bottle of silicone is cheaper and you only need 10ml for the whole trip, it takes a tiny amount and flows easier around the tick than Vaseline. You can also use it to kill off head lice in the same way.
I surprised with all your electronics you're not using a satellite tracker to stay in touch with family. SPOT seems to be the most affordable.
is the cell phone signal coverage really low in Japan? Can't believe that
Are the music credits right on this video? I've been trying to find that first track that was used but the three songs in the description aren't it.
Should be good unless they changed them recently. I’ll check
Oh thank you man, because I'm really loving your music selection for these videos
It’s a coincidence that I saw your video about the last Father’s day on this Father’s Day.
That also means you’ve skipped first 2 Father’s day from your daughter.
