      Kratos x23 i would disagree with you. Kristian said long time ago, you don't mess with the questions. I just believe top 10 had a bad match. Respin on tarantino was their choice and landing on opponents choice was bad luck. Only one to blame for top 10 lose is top 10. And if they would want team action to win they would give them much easier questions on action adventure to knockout top 10 in round 2.

      yeah but those spins and their luck have always been a factor in the MTS.. how many matches should clarke wolf have won on all accounts if not for bad 2nd round spins? or samm levine for that matter? Or you have people like macuga who've gotten by with crazy luck when he's guessing and just hitting blind bullseyes.
      the wheel is a double edged sword.. though some people have been saying in the MTS fb group that Top10 being the favorite going in could have had an option to not have them on the wheel. i mean chances of someone spinning both of those is really uncommon

      Paul Gibbons Adding opponents/spinners choice to the wheel and the 3rd round random number picking are things that make this "sport" so entertaining. Anybody can win on any given night. If we really want to find out who knows movie trivia the best, just ask 20 questions, no multiple choice, no consulting. That's boring.

    Rocha had a solid beef on the experimental teacher question in the first round. An experimental teacher isn't one that conducts experiments. It's a teacher that thinks outside the box when it comes to teaching their students. I know it was just one point but it definitely put him on tilt. GG all.

      @Yipee182 Před 7 lety +16

      I don't think this is as clearcut as everybody seems to think. When you have a guy like Tarantino who hasn't made that many films, the questions in that category automatically go way deeper. If you don't remember all the details about minor characters from his films, you could be in for a nasty surprise even if you've seen all the films Tarantino has made.

    Experimental teacher is NOT a thing. I've never heard of that when referring to any science teacher or a teacher that does any type of experiment. Saying experimental teacher implies something closer to an alternative teacher who does alternative styles of teaching or experimental style of teaching. It may also mean someone experimenting with becoming a teacher. That was poor wording and they did not even flinch in denying that challenge. Better judgement calls and wording on questions next time.
    Appreciate the work put into organizing this event though. No matter how heated the comment section might be, you guys do deliver with these events so thanks!

    • @mediaricher9383
      @mediaricher9383 Před 7 lety

      What would the better judgment call have been though?
      Knost got it right. 3/4 got it right. If you listen to the challenge there are two put forward.
      First challenge. "Robin Williams isn't a teacher in Good Will Hunting, he's a psychiatrist" Wrong movie specifically mentioned in the challenge. Even as Ellis yells to them "It's Flubber" multiple times... he still challenges Good Will Hunting.
      Rocha also answered Danny Devito. Does the wording of the question somehow make Danny Devito the correct answer?
      Second challenge. It is worded incorrectly. Legit challenge, experimental teacher 9/10 will be interpreted as alternative educator of some sort. I can agree to that.
      However he lost his initial challenge and lost the opportunity to make a second.
      So what then? New question? Every one gets it wrong?
      Don't just point to problems if you are unwilling or incapable of offering solutions.
      What should they have done?

    • @gracefulbutterfly
      @gracefulbutterfly Před 7 lety +4

      well... people should ask the people who write these questions to perhaps take care in how they are worded so as not to read misleading. Anyone can contribute questions through schmoesknow.com

      Completely agree

    • @peoplediewhenising
      @peoplediewhenising Před 7 lety

      Media Richer you're right, Rocha challenged it wrong but the problem was that the question was flawed from the beginning so you can't really blame him. 3/4 of them got it but that has nothing to do with the fact that the question itself is flawed. My problem was that even if he did challenge it correctly by asking generally what a "experimental teacher" is, he would have still been denied that challenge because they were set on saying they were right. If a question is grammatically wrong, the people answering it shouldn't be the one to adjust, the question should be corrected or replaced. I think that's fair because the judging of this game is objective. If this was an actual formal competition, no way in hell was that gonna pass just because 3/4 of the competitors luckily interpreted the flawed question correctly. The call should have been a replacement of the question which they have done multiple times in the show already even if someone answered the question correctly. And fuck yes I can point out problem without offering a solution because that's not my job. This is a fucking comment section, stop acting like your rules on crafting comments is a thing everyone has to follow.
      I'm perfectly confident that the team at collider can find a solution to what I said because it's literally just asking for better wording. You're acting like I'm demanding a rematch or something...

      You're right, it was sloppily worded. @nuntiuso7347 Před 7 lety

      Actually, if you think about it, it's not so bad a choice to spin away from a category with only 8/9 movies in it, since the questions are very likely to get very specific. Unless Top 10 have seen different QT movies more than a few times, they would have to work very had in that category. They were just unlucky with the second spin.

      They took out Nerds Watch while only having to use their 3rd round 2 pointer.

    • @NateArnoldVideos
      @NateArnoldVideos Před 7 lety +4

      The only reason he didn't was because he verbally assumed Good Will Hunting originally and Mark Ellis had already expressed his frustration with the four of them not listening to him saying Flubber. If he'd asked which movie before going off, they might have given it to him, but it is unlikely since he didn't have an answer that could have garnered a point. Especially since other players got the correct answer based on the same question.

    • @JoelGFigures
      @JoelGFigures Před 7 lety +2

      Yes, but his main point was about the term used in the question which should have been what the judges should have taken into consideration not which movie he thought it was from. The point about the term still stands regardless of the movie. The only way the term would make sense is if he actually played a role in which he uses experimental teaching techniques. Great match though.

    What a match. Was really rooting for Top Ten. Mike Iseman really shows how its done, doesn't he? He really brought another element and I hope they get him back. I love your guys' announcing, but that's some Network TV level stuff right there. Great energy.
    No problems with the questions, though Movie release dates really is a wet blanket of a category. Team Action really took it to them. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but I've been very into the almost 'trap' strength categories in the 2nd round. What I mean is, it seemed like Horror for Wolves of Steel, two matches in a row, was unusually difficult, and the same seemed true for Action/Adventure here with their eponymous category. It could just be random. But I do think some of the recent criticism has been about the question difficulty not appropriately increasing with the rounds, and that's something I can agree with. Granted, this is extremely difficult to do I'm sure, but as a viewer, I know I want to see as fair a match as possible, which is why your changes to the first round in the past (everyone getting the same questions now) were so well received.
    I'm just a huge fan and have been LOVING the increased volume, and hope the views reflect a greater appetite for content. Congratulations on a great tournament thus far!
    PS: Is it possible to get into McWeeny's head? Or Levine? Team Action has a hell of a mountain to climb.

    • @philbox3productions
      @philbox3productions Před 7 lety

      nrelston it is possible to get in Levine's head hell Rocha does it from heckling in the crowd so he can be messed with. Now Mcweeny on the other hand I've only seen caught off once and that was in the Sneider match where he got scores and soundtracks and began to get sloppy answering the questions similar to that 70s category where they missed nearly half. It's going to be an uphill battle for Action but it's possible they could end up on top there just going to have to pray that they don't get the ATL from the last match.

      @willigagbob8243 Před 7 lety

      It tripped me up too, I would have answered Robin Williams because of the show host part of the question which instantly made me think Death to Smoochy., but I could only think of Dead Poet's Society as the teacher thing and I knew that didn't come out in 97. Couldn't think of what movie he was homeless in in 91. And the wording of the question would have led me to believe the 97 movie wasn't a comedy, which Flubber was, which also veered me away from Robin Williams. With all that being said, the answer was Robin Williams. And the question wasn't so oddly worded or misleading that it should have caused that big of a stir. Yes experimental scientist would have been the way more informative phrase, but he was a teacher, and there were 2 other clues there to work off of. I just looked up the 91 movie, the Fisher King, which I heard of but never saw, so I don't see what the big controversy is, 2 out of the 3 is enough to take an educated guess, like I said Death to Smoochy already made me think of Robin Williams but I only had 1 of the 3 movies in mind.
