    At 8:23, the little guy in the Oscar Mayer commercial was voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft, better known in later life as the voice of Tony the Tiger!

    It's funny looking back at the race to see who could be all "future crazy". The terrible instant coffee was an example of such. It was fine if all you wanted was a dose of the world's favorite drug (caffeine) and didn't mind that it tasted like you were drinking if out of an old gym shoe that you found in the locker room. Yum😊

      The only thing more torturous than having to drink Castoria was having to be held down by someone else while Mom applied Tincture of Merthiolate to open wounds. Merthiolate was taken off the market decades ago because it’s POISON. It contains mercury. I still have a 60 year old bottle of it that I kept to remind me of the horror.

    6:34 so that’s why I see the black and white movies with the characters hair look mighty fine. Hair gel sucks, it only makes my hair super dry, and does not hold for 8 hours. It flakes right away and makes my hair and scalp look messy.

    Fun Fact: Hellmann's Mayonnaise is know by that brand in the Eastern & Midwest U.S.
    It's called Best Foods Mayonnaise in the West & Southwestern U.S. & now owned by Unilever.

      Quaker Puffed Rice was copied by Kellogg's a few years after that ad, and their version was called Puffa Puffa Rice.

      Puffa Puffa Rice- introduced in 1967- was sweetened with brown sugar (and a dash of granulated sugar)- which Quaker Puffed Rice *didn't* have.

      Either way, at least we know what they are trying to sell. Too many modern ads are too busy creating abstract performance art, or trying to satisfy some DEI quota, that the product or its benefits get buried.
      The other plus: no "do not attempt" disclaimers littering the screen.
