I wish General Mills would bring back Twinkles, Country Corn Flakes & those other cereals they discontinued a long time ago.

In later commercials, he occasionally sneaked a box of them away from the kids, adding, "And *sometimes* for tricky rabbits!"

I guess was similar to the Wily Coyote vs. Road Runner cartoons at WB or Lucy pulling the football from Charlie Brown at the last minute in the Peanuts comics .

If I become famous and get featured in a Trix commercial, I’ll give the rabbit Trix.

One of the first cold cereals I had as a child was Twinkles, and I even remember when the characters on the box were even part of a brief cartoon show.

And that show was "KING LEONARDO AND HIS SHORT SUBJECTS". It featured a 90 second "Twinkles" adventure on every show, with George S. Irving as narrator. By the late 1960's, the "Twinkles" episodes were withdrawn from syndication, because General Mills no longer used the elephant on the package, or in their advertising {he was "retired" in 1963}. The "Twinkles" segments also appeared briefly on "ROCKY AND HIS FRIENDS" during the 1960-'61 season, but Jay Ward insisted they be removed from HIS show.

@@fromthesidelines I thought ROCKY like BULLWINKLE was a big G show . If so I guess Jay Ward had a lot of pull with General Mills to get that done .

It was, Joe. Jay just didn't want a segment from another cartoon show on his own program without his approval {General Mills just placed those "Twinkles" segments on "ROCKY" without telling him}. He insisted the only ones featured would be produced by *HIM.*

It does, but Bill Scott didn't provide that voice in that commercial (he only did them in the ones Jay Ward produced). I believe that was Bob Kaliban.
