I love how all these drywall videos are done on lines that are hip level… I just finished doing tight closet inside corners standing on a ladder… show some of that…
I'm pretty sure if they don't impress you these guys will still sleep fine at night. It's nice to see different tools being used, especially since everyone over here uses a knife.
No one's trying to be impressed, people are typing in drywall finishing tips into CZcams and they want to see things other than boilerplate technique @@wtfbbqbye
@@vancejensen3844You dont know what you're talking about. Ray has a little more understanding. If you use regular mud, if you dont let the first tape coat fully dry, you can get bubbles.
Not to be a negative person...it does look good... I was just taught another way of doing this...been at it for 24 yrs and never used those types of knives... I use an 8 on my bead...10 on flats and butt joints and skim with 12...i also use either my bazooka or banjo for taping..that looks hand taped...i can tell from the mud on the side of the tape...looks good bro...no wrong way to do it if it looks good 👍
The 14" finishing trowel and a hawk are the only tools you need to finish a house. That being said, I still use Banjos, Boxes, and corner tools. And a 12" curved trowel that I use for my 1st coat in lieu of boxes for small jobs, and a 16" that I use for them big butts. But I stand by the fact that you could finish an entire house with one hawk and one trowel if you needed too
@@user-df4qp7ur2z post a video of your work, I'm interested in seeing if it's better.....I use a knife and a trowel myself and there are so many ways to get it done , but I'm interested in seeing your work....👍
I probably watch thisliket at least 10 times in a row. Mesmerizing ...lol.I began using a trowel a year ago and I've gotten way better. I've used drywall knives before.. but to me the trowel just feels better putting mud on the wall.
I use all union tools as a custom drywall sub contractor. You get 5 days to finish a house tape to sand, and none of the tools in this video used are specialized for drywall. Their actually more or so concrete and roofing tools put together. This is not what a real job looks like. No expertise is involved. I was doing hand work second week in
We used to use a 7" box for first coat. I've seen people put first coat on with a 6" successfully! What do you use for second coat? I use a 12" sometimes i go 14" if the sheetrock is not good.
6' for tape coat, 8, then 10 or 12 on the 3rd coat. I just don't find using bigger knives really matters because of shrinkage unless the joints are warped.
Looks like you crowded the flat…? Should have layed your trowel on edge into wet mud when you completed so we could see how far it buried into mud. It should barely touch, if your trowel is straight and crescent shaped from use
Looks like the 2nd coat. I don't know what video you are looking at. Plus what difference does it make what size the knife is as long as it covers the joint enough on both sides? Which it did. You just something negative to say. A glass half full person I see.
Flat Joints can be finished just like this without having to go over it one more time. Outside Corners and Butt Joints need atleast 1 more coat in my experience. Inside corners only need 1 coating coat to be done if you are good as well.

Just perfil your joints if they’re too much uneven then you will have a solid flat tape. That is what I do with my butjoints

Itll be kinda hard to set up a camera in there lol

That looks to be a second coat on top of the 1st coat that isn't dry all the way yet. None the less excellent work
1st coat of topping. The coat you’re thinking is the first is the joint compound

I see tape. No wet mud until he coats it.
Bedding tape inst 1st coat to most guys
Really. Another expert. All this channel needs.

That’s some clean trowel work my man! 🤙
Nice 👍, good trowel work
You and him obviously know nothing about plastering 😂😂😂

SKILLS! Plain and simple! You don't get this good on accident, it takes WORK!!
I'm not into construction but this is so pretty so therapeutic

I find this incredibly artistic. I have such a tough time mudding at home even the smallest patch.

Wait you spread on then you remove everything to a 16th of an inch skim?

Crowned the flat
Looks smooth 👍
Until it shrinks when it dries. That's why we usually put on 2 coats. This would be a Warehouse finish. Not really smooth.
@@IRDrywallLuckily, as the title states its the first coat.
2nd coat is a skim coat about 18 in
Damn. I've had a go at filling core holes. That is an amazing job.
Paper tape is peeling off already you can see it. Two passes with a 10" knife since it is the first coat!!!
Played with the flat too much, 2-3 wipes is all you should need
Nice work man❤
На простой шпатель, можно выровнять на один раз 😅
rounded edges are very usefull, try.
That bubbled tape is gunna piss the sander off 😂
Why would it piss him off ?
The mud covered it
@TekagiI think you’re right there, just weird lighting on the video. It didn’t have much to complain about that day. Keep up the hard work 👊
Did you skip 12” curved ?
What compound / plaster do you use?
Nice work

Finished with a trowel

If you have to check a recessed joint, you better tAlk to your hangers.
You guys would stuggle over here in the uk 🤣
Yep, would have had that whole wall skimmed by the time he's done that farty little bit.
Buen talento hermano
Straight trowel???
Good job
That of removing pasta and giving them past bars is not good for a beginner
Bubbles in n the tape already... and where’s the 2nd layer of base coat... then you drop 2 top coats..
lay off the rocks...
Respect for the trowel. I’m not coordinated enough for anything but a knife and pan.
It's easier, you'll like and want to switch
much faster to coat joints as well. I love using a 13x5 flat trowel for skim coating and final coats
Laser trowel
Just taking off what you put on 😊😊😊😊😊
Что за инструмент, какая фирма?
You dont need to put mud on you can just paint the drywall
I know how many inches the iron you recommend
10 box on 1 doubled half the room in the time he did a 4 foot flat
a 14 in the 1st coat though?

@@sdc3221 Well after the tape is put on and dried tehn we would nomally us a 8 to top , then a 10 or 12 for skimming .

mud mixed perfect
Tape is the first coat
Its just filling
What's he on £50m
И что ?! Все равно усадку даст. Потом ещё протягивать.
That's called a second coat
Why doesnt he use the notch side? ....
😂 J/k ...
These videos never show sanding process which is dusty as hell and takes forever....
Me gusta
If yr real good u can get away with 1 coat ..th punjabis do here in manitoba
Hey , kiero trabajar con ustedes

cover up that wrinkled tape.
Use boxes slow poke

Garbage, gypsum all the way

You joint tapers have zero trowel skills, what's with all the noise. Your supposed to feather it in not just take off what you put on.
Pfft took u 3 cleans too many bud especially for first coat. Amateur
F his 1st coat is a 14 inch damn hate to sand his work the whole wall
Takes way too long for that 20cm of wall for you
Don't use a 14 on your first coat
You're going to one coat that s*** leave it just like that you never first go with the 14
