During the early 18th century, London emerged as a prominent musical hub in Europe, captivating composers, singers, and instrumentalists. The fervor for musical theater drew creative talents to England, catalyzing a surge in chamber music production. Vastly popular with amateurs and ladies of high society. The receptive English audience, often active participants, became a boon for composers and publishers alike, bolstering a rich musical tradition. This sonata, probably by Francesco Geminiani (1687-1762), a pivotal Italian figure who settled in London, is a short and colourful piece, probably originally for violin. However, this transcription is presumed to be by the hand of Pietro Chaboud and is a true treat for oboists too.

An excellent performance. A true delight to listen.

I'll cheer up today 🥰🥰
Giovani, belli e molto molto bravi...❤ grazie grazie grazie...un saluto da Verona in Italy...
Really beautiful sounds--so musical. In addition to the oboe solo and other instruments, I enjoyed seeing (and hearing) the theorbo. When I was in grad school for musicology at U Chicago circa 1980 I was a sometimes player with Mary Springfels and her Newberry Consort. A local luthier had made a theorbo for her band and as a fretted-instrument person I was asked to play it, which I was very happy to do. One fun part of that was taking public transportation from the Hyde Park neighborhood on the south side of Chicago to the performance venue on the north side while carrying this enormously long instrument case. I suppose people wondered what the heck I had in there!
I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing more of your performances.
Thanks so much for your wonderful performance. I love the baroque oboe, so much sweeter than the modern one. You are all great
❤
Always, always, a pleasure listening to your superb music!! Again, thanks for sharing! [Greetings from Tucson]

いつも素敵な音楽をありがとうございます♪
Beaucoup d'avenir pour ces jeunes musiciens talentueux.
I love theorbo 😍👏👏👏👏
Great job from Musica Gloria as usual. Amazing lute. It must a nightmare to transport. Edit: Oh no its not a lute it's a theorbo.
Yes, a theorbo must be an annoying travel companion, by plane, train or automobile!
Nessun problema.
@@guidomagnano6297 Then I am very glad to know that they teach music as well as magic at Hogwarts! BRAVO! 🪄
Absolutly love it!!!!
Weeral een heerlijke uitvoering. Zou graag eens de continuo meespelen met mijn barokcello. Prachtig werk!
Zie je mailbox.. :)
beautiful, cannot find sheet music
Have you been able to play it today? :)
Me too, I know the e minor (Peters) ,but not this beautiful one .
@Bruno, if you send me (Nele Vertommen) a pm on Facebook, I'm happy to send you the pdf!
The theorbist magically disappears for the second movement and magically switches to guitar for the fourth movement! 🙃
It’s incredible, right? 😂
EN QUE CATALOGO SE EN CONTRA ESSA SONATA? POR FAVOR INDIQUE O LIVRO O É UN ARRANJO DE OUTRA PEÇA DE GEMINIANI?
❤
