Tips for beginners:
1. It took me ages to get over my fear, in the end I got over it by not focusing, knowing I'm strong enough, I've worked hard etc.
2. It is best to practice everyday, but if you're the kind that you don't do things everyday like me, then whenever you are bored just try and do it, I probably roughly took 2 weeks using this process, but sometimes I would spend an hour stretching the mornings :)
3. Use the wall as support, but as you go on try not to lean on the wall putting all your weight there, because you won't be able to lean on air and you need to get used to holding your weight, it's ok for beginners to do that just to get the feel of it, but after a few times try to not to.
4. Practice at going on a certain place on the wall/door and try and see if you can go a bit further that day. When you're about 15cm up from the ground, start putting cushions under your head, I struggled putting my hands on the cushions at first, because of fear, but as I practiced each move a couple of times I put fingers on my cushions, then half hands, then full hands and finally all my weight was on my arms and legs :)
5. When you're far down, everytime you get to a certain place on the wall a few times, try moving a few cushions, eventually you'll be able to go down to the floor completely.
6. Once you're able to do it on the wall, try doing it on a chair, I personally used a big computer chair with cushions on it to begin with, I removed a cushion often and slowly went down. Move to another lower surface until you can eventually go to the floor.
7. Don't rush it, do it in your own time, have fun doing it, the whole process took a month and a bit, but it doesn't feel like that if you take your time and do it slowly.
8. What I found really helped was doing back flexibility stretches daily, DAILY, often, if you don't do it often there won't be an effect.
9. Listen to happy,upbeat music, most of the time I listened to Alivia's Dance Music Playlist, it's a lovely upbeat collection of music, music tends to distract you and change your mood which will help.
10. Don't just stop doing it when you can do it, keep practicing, try doing tricks, lifting legs up doing random things, that will keep your flexibility
P.S It doesn't come overnight, you need to have the patience to do it, just make a time for achieving skills, and the one you could be doing at the moment is the backbend, it doesn't how long it takes, afterall it's just fun anyway :D

Here are some tips for getting over fears of going down into the backbend:
1. Practice going down on a soft surface such as a carpet, mat, or towel so if you do fall you dont hurt yourself
2. Try going further down the wall while touching it, then attempt to go all the way down next to the wall so you can use the wall for support if you dont feel confident
3. Get comfortable in the bridge before you try going down so you are warmed up
4. Bend your back when going down, don't just go backwards
5. Have a spotter in the beginning to help you get used to going backwards
6. Slide your hands down your legs backwards when going down for support and to make you bend further
7. Use surfaces lower each time to help you go down into your backbend
8. Trust yourself! You are strong enough. You dont end up holding your entire weight so if you can do a handstand or even just a plank you are strong enough
9. Find a spot to focus on so while you go down you can follow a line with you eyes to balance
10. Practice, practice, practice . Dont give up if you can't do it in a day! It took me 3 weeks to do a proper backbend, and when you do get it dont hurt yourself doing it often.

I am really small and have extremely small wrists mine are 4’3 and I am eleven I am super tiny and super under weight even for size and I’m scared I might hurt my Wrists I have tried a bridge before and it didn’t go well
Charlene Woods honestly I never really stretched I just try doing it on the floor and after the floor I tried using the wall which did work but me and my other friend were both trying to do a backbend so what we would do is we would hold each other‘s hands and while one would go down and we will put one hand down then the other hand and like slowly we will just got used to doing it by ourselves I’m 5’4 but I’m also really underweight so I hope that helps so maybe try to get one of your friends to hold your hand while you go down slowly like because overtime you’ll get used to it also you could try putting a pillow underneath you or you could try doing it on your bed first that’s what I would do I hope that helped.

@Sumaiya Mahmood I wouldn't do it on a trampoline unless it is really firm. I have tried doing it on a trampoline and it is really difficult because of how bouncy they are. But if you feel more comfortable on that you can just make sure someone is there to make sure you don't hurt your self👍

Tip for beginners who are scared to go down and backwards: you have a higher a chance of DYING IN A CAR CRASH, no, not even, DYING IN A PLANE CRASH, than going down into a backbend and dying/ severely injuring yourself, also, don’t think about it too much. Think about the features of your ceiling! :D good luck!

@Amun Ra Try to straighten your arms and legs as much as you can, and bring your chest up as high as possible. Also, make sure that the distance between your arms and legs is the same as the length from your head to waist. I had the same problem and these tips helped a lot

Quick tip on how I got my backbend!
When you go down the wall the first time you can just put your hands and walk right down but each time see if you can bend farther back without touching it and then grab the wall when you need support! Each time you’ll get farther and farther down the wall until finally you don’t grab it at all and you reach the floor!! Hope this helps❤️

@Aliviadandrea I just wanted to thank you. I always have had horrible back flexibility, and I avoided it because it hurt and bothered me so much. A year ago, I couldn’t even do a simple bridge for more than 5 seconds. After a lot of stretching and hard work, I finally can do a back bend, and come up from it! Thank you for inspiring me, and motivating me to work on my weaknesses, not avoid them.❤️

guys I tried her tutorial and many other ones and this helps I had the fear of going backwards I used to do gymnastics when I was 7 and I lost my passion keep in mind when ur walking down the wall use pillows it’s very helpful for the fear of going backwards once I got to the point where I felt comfortable I removed pillows it took me a couple of hours and I gave up multiple times but guys don’t give it its so worth the wait !!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🥳

hey, i'm having trouble with getting down on my elbows, it's like i can't force my arms to go lower. i have no problem doing a backbend, but my elbows just wont go down

You cannot do it because your back isn't flexible enough. I also can't do that yet but you have to practice daily your back flexibility and you're going to do it.

When I do a backbend on a wall or bridge all they things my head hurts
Anybody got any tips to stop that?
Heyy. Sometimes that happens to me too, it's actually normal that your head hurts and you feel dizzy while doing backbend on the wall or other back stretches. (it will reduce eventually) To prevent this make sure you're hydrated enough and that you breathe.(not holding your breath)Also whenever your head hurts you can go into Child's pose to release the tension and relax. You can stay in that position as long as you need. (that helps me a lot) I hope I helped you and if you have any other questions about it feel free to ask.

@@someone12501 Of course it's not too late and I can tell you this from my own experience. I started going to gymnastics when I was 14. So, you have nothing to be afraid of.
You may not be fast in progress like younger kids, but capability of your body at that age is still perfect and you can still start.
Just make sure you give your all and don't push yourself too hard because you could hurt yourself really badly.
If you want it, go for it, it's not too late. I started at 14, I wasn't as nearly as good as others(I was actually only one that was 14😂), but eventually I accomplished some great results and it was wonderful experience.
I wish you the best and don't hesitate to try it. Again, it's not too late. ☺

This has happened to me before. I know it hurts a lot but I have some advice!
Try not to land too hard on your hand. Also, while it hurts, you can get a warm cloth, put some ice in it, and wrap the cloth around your hand so the ice is touching your wrist. Later, once the ice melts, you can wash your wrist with hot water and put some ointment on it! Hope this helped!

I once was talking to my friend and she was like can you do a backbend I was like I'll try and it actually worked (I have a little bit of back flexibility) I was really happy and once I came home I showed it to my family and they said it's really good but when my mom's friends came over they saw me doing gymnastics and they asked if I could do any skill so I decided to do a backbend when I was doing it I just randomly collapsed on my head .however now I have a huge fear of collapsing I can do a backbend on any kind of soft surface but never on a floor or something if you have any tip please comment 😃thank you for reading my story 😎
maybe try putting a pillow down until you get used to it and once you get used to it start moving it farther away each time

I did the handstand and fell over on my head (on stones) and started bleeding and thats why I never do handstands again lol

When doing the stretches and trying this, my head keeps feeling very heavy and EXTREMELY uncomfortable so I can’t do the stretches very well. Please help! (also I get discouraged very easily and I suck at this)

I know you talked about getting over the fear of going backwards but how do you get over the fear of falling on your head or breaking your neck or nose or just injury related things. I have tiny and thin wrists that are really flexible so they simply hurt when I do a plank, and people think I can't hold it, so my wrists are a problem when it comes to doing tricks. I used to do a lot of tricks as a kid because I was a dancer, but when I left last year, I lost my balance. I lost my tricks many years ago however(
You need to stretch daily and practice often so you can have less fear
Do it standing on the ground, and try to do it over your bed. Then find a lower surface and do it over that. Do it until you're to the ground. It's what I did.
I don't know why I thought of EDS when I read this. Most likely just fear, be careful.
You just have to get stronger, since i am in gymnastics, i do a lot of conditioning, and stretching so for me, its easy

In just trying to walk up and down a wall, I've managed to hit my head by falling 4 times, cut my shoulder, collapse in a super painful way, and I was going it on my door since I have no other open walls, and someone opened the door. Ouch. But I'm fine, I'm just gonna take a lil break😅

i can do the backwalkover but i didnt learn like that i just had my friend help me and then i did it by myself but if u dont know how to do it my advice would be have faith in yourself cz if i can do it i a sure u can do it also anyone can do anything P.S the key of life is try new things

I have never done ballet or gymnastics but I skipped all the other ways and used the face pose and I didn't regret
