- With the introduction of the Stalingrad and the subsequent buffing of parts of the Moskva to 50mm of armor, another ship has seen a surge of popularity, the Henri IV. Specifically HIV with IFHE, capable of penetrating that stubborn armor that is so resistant to all damage. It does have other benefits though, as I show in this video, capable of dealing consistent damage to the likes of GKUR and Khabarovsk. You can find the recommended build at the end as usual.

Please keep in mind that IFHE is still HIGHLY situational on the Henri IV. Of the 25 T10 Ships in the game, it's only really useful against 5. Minor benefit against Yamato (50mm plating above nose), significant benefit against Moskva, Stalingrad, Khaba & GKUR. You WILL have games where you face none of these! Now I really need to catch my flight, later my dudes!

Regarding Henri though, How does a Hindy protect itself against her? I was in a situation the other day where I was being chased by a Henri and could not hurt or discourage it enough. It just rehealed so much of the damage I inflicted on it while it's massive caliber HE just melted me. I'm left wondering if I should even risk engaging a Henri without support or a broadside I can alpha-strike. Any chance you could offer some feedback on that? Maybe in an upcoming commentary?

@@jimmyc00l I think he is referring to Legendary module, which improves reload even further. That negates concealment module to 15.5km concealment WITH captain perk... that is the setup I use and it is so much fun with sub 4s reload when damaged and using booster. Never had game under 140k damage after I got Legendary module... for CB you shouldn't use Legendary though, because penalty to concealment is too much for competitive, but it is great in randoms :)

Unless you're in something like a mino or fucking cancer for my Harekaze (wooster), where with an island, you can easily sneak up to enemies DDs and suddenly pop up and blap all their health in less than 20s. Or just playing a DD, althoig the radar meta does slightly negate its usefulness.

Yep, because one of the best AP rounds in the game, fired from one of the most accurate T8 BB's in the game, just isn't good enough for derpski.

It would be nice to re-visit the commander skills build now that WG has screwed with IFHE.
This captain build is what my clan use for CW, though we do run double rudder shift mod instead of concealment since we found it to be more useful.

I like the henri. Tricky sometimes though.
Had an awesome game recently. Topped the scoreboard in my team, had 2M potential damage and took zero damage the entire game xD
the armor is quite special that it sometimes soaks BB shells and more often than not that 30mm side bounces any non-Yamasushi shells during jukes.
Yeah cuz there's a 100+mm armor behind that 30mm protecting the citadel so sometimes it bounces shells

Now that all secondaries have changed to HE. Is ifhe instead of manual fire a viable option for secondary based bb:s? Bismarck, Richelieu etc?
Would you change anything if you used the legendary module on the HVI?
I like playing this ship like a khaba: early game - go fast, dodge, stay at range and light fires. late game - use your speed to get preferable angles and ap nerds back to port. this ship is insanely good.
So, this is one of the two ships I have the legendary mod for, is it really worth using it, for the boosted range/dpm?
Legendary Henri = Best Henri. Pls feature this as well Flamu! It's just MORE raw damage 😂 and comes with the benefit of being spotted from the moon. *turning dodge shenanigans to 11*

Sounds like it will be useful in clan battles, though, Yamato is one of the if not the most common BB, and almost all teams use at least one balancegrad
I wish they would give the Seattle some love. A T9 light cruiser should not be measurably worse than the T8.

I still wish we got a buff to the shell velocity. I honestly feel that French ships should've been laser canons.
I recently returned to WoWS, so IFHE is still new too me, Still trying to figure out which ships it works on, and which ships its not needed, and retraining all my Captains..
If it's a cruiser, and it's got guns smaller than 203mm (with exceptions to Henri), and it's above tier 5, it needs IFHE.

Yep. All RN BBS get /4 for their main guns. Which is irrelevant, since any BB HE will always pen everything except main belt armor, and RN BB HE will pen even some CA belt armor without IFHE.
You'd take IFHE on a BB for the secondary pen. Which is useful only for KM and French BBs. And even there, it's almost always an inferior choice to other L4 skills.
7:00 this part of the commentary sums up why I don't understand why people still bother to play GK, or even TX BBs in general.

The HE dpm and fire chance of both ships are very similar, but HIV has much longer range, higher speed and better control. Hindy is easier to play in Random but HIV is more suitable for the competitive meta.

Geman have different HE penetration : 203/4=50mm instead of 240/6=40mm of pen
Henri armor is trolly against BB's, so basically you got no REAL threat, except maybe being focused fire
As you said IFHE very situational and actually not necessarily needed if you use your AP a bit more (like against Khaba for example)
My idea is: in the Henri, you don't care about your Concealment. You want to be able to kite, and you are always shooting. So Concealment is a bit useless.
You get more value from RPF than from IFHE as you can always use it since you are always spotted/always shooting. So you want to know where the DDs are
+ Hydro for me but that's a personal choice (like to kill DDs in smokes)

@@ipatchymakouli3149 Against the Khab and Harugumo AP is still the better choice if they're not angled 😉 (it's the 2 exceptions as they were not included in the patch for BB AP)
Well, I remember doing a 23k volley with Yama AP to a Khaba bowing in during the last tierX ranked, but after they nerfed it I never felt AP powerful against any DD, even front Harugumos (that weren't changed) take overpens...

Flamu himself points out that IFHE does absolutely nothing against the vast majority of ships you're going to face. There's not that many ships that have a legitimate use for the skill and for most of those it's still situational.

Every cruisers have spécial skills (smoke mino,Dpm Desmoine ,dpm HE Spammers worcester,long distance sniper Moskva ,multiple rôle Zao and Hindenburg) but Henry nothing 😅😒
Seems like every video put out by Flamu lately is him super hard carrying the entire team to a win... It's sad how bad the average WoWS player has become as of late. It's not uncommon to see tier 8-10 cruisers and BBs at the bottom of team scoreboards with under 400 XP earned.

Your team's Essex did absolutely no favors for your team. Any half decent CV would have been on those flanking DDs like white on rice until they were dead.
This ship has no citadel. Literally unable to hit in my Iowa.

Sweet Jesus that Republique on the enemy team is a parade example of how not to BB.
Still full HP by the ~17 minute mark of the match (and considering his base XP he can't have done much in the time beforehand) and then just yolo'ed into the enemy to die dealing absolutely no meaningful damage trying to fight a bow-on NC when he had a low HP cruiser he could absolutely wreck (which also was by far the biggest threat to him). Had he killed Flamu, that might've still won the game, but noooooo~ gotta throw it!
On the other hand the Kurfürst earlier in the match did the right thing, even as he died pushing into three DDs plus enemy BBs and cruisers, because he slowed them down so hard and took damage for his team, plus his presence directly contributed to the sinking of two of the three enemy DDs. That was probably play of the game right there.
You are the best at slowing down german pushes while the british retreat like cowards and blaim you for dying against multiple enemies alone.

DO you ever get tired of farming/carrying and endless barrage of potatoes? Watching your GK sitting BEHIND you nearly the whole match (especially when the other one finally advanced), and that CV oblivious to the positioning of your team and the enemy are good examples.
WoWS is running the risk of following WoT to a point where armour means nothing, and the ships that pay a price in other respects for theoretically excellent protection (German BBs in particular) will end up keeping their disadvantages (poor accuracy, agility, torpedo protection) while their 'advantages' become meaningless.
They made an announcement thay he from your ship will only do raw damage to ships of your class or lighter and of yoyr tier and lower. Dont know what this means for IFHE.
@@TJackson736 I sincerely hope they don't go through with that change- as fighting as low tier ships will be even harder than it already is. If it does go through... I think I'll be selling my Mogami and other low tier CL's...

i change IFHE to RPF ...its much better in Random + CW ....its a Nightmare for DDs..44kn. + Hydro and RPF = Deadly He spammer against Moskwa + Stalin yes. You dont need IFHE.
XeL Play eventually I meet somebody who shares my build. I highly like it. Henri has easily become my favourite ship.

For me Henri's biggest incongruence in its design is the stupidly slow turret traverse... Come on, this is a ship with a rather slow RoF (as evidenced by WG's gimmicky addition of the MBRB and the, for me, stupidly horrible legendary upgrade) and an asymetric gun design so, unlike Zao or Hinden, once Henri has to run away (which has to do because there is no armor and speed is its great advantage) it looses most of its guns on target...
The whole line is made up of non-stealthy but fast kitting cruisers, some with superb turret traverse, and the you get to the Henri which struggles to keep guns on target as soon as you turn to dodge... seriously WG, why...
Keep in mind, that Henri has far better rearward angles than Zao, but still. WG buff all CA 180 degree turret traverse to
@@n00btotale yes, better rear firing angle also mean that when you hit the map border and have to turn the other way around, your turrets have more angle to cover...
Better angles are better angles and are nice, of course, but better angles do not help you in tracking your target under hard turns to dodge etc... so, yeah, more turret traverse would greatly help this cruiser.
@@BayushiTawa I don't know about a lot of people, but as long as the turret traverse on a open water cruiser is less than old Myoko's turret traverse (~42.5s), it's good enough.
@@n00btotale well, yes, old Myoko was the definition of rough... Nonetheless, Japanese cruisers, due to their good concealment and good alpha, are more of an oportunistc damage dealer, so they can take their time turning turrets and preparing... The French have to constantly fire and dodge. If I am not wrong the turret angle covered between salvos while reloading, which determines your target tracking capability while dodging, was not much worse on Myoko, which also has 60 % of the guns turning around the back (to change broadside) vs 33% of the French... So yes, Myoko had worse speed, but its gameplay requires less turret traverse speed than the Henri...

@@NarrowDipShit So true. The US is even getting an improved heal which changes it to 6.0% or something... Aka when the american battleship has used 4 heals its actually the equivelant to 5 normal heals. The only US BB's that need buff's would be the new York and possibly mexico's reload, and maybe Colorado. I mean Colorado isn't neccesarely extremely weak but it doesnt really have anything going for it, but god damn it NC and Iowa dont need this. NC is gonna become so strong aswell. (i did forget tho does Montana get the buff too?, because if it does then im down right triggered)
@@spinekingjrgensen5779 Last I played New Mexico and Colorado they were more than good enough. New York has been super power crept, but NC is straight up the best tier 8 and Iowa a super solid tier 9. Colorado has been buffed over the last year and New mexico was always strong with those 12 guns with really good pen. Oh and afaik the heal is 0.66% per tick compared to the normal .5% normal heal or Vanguards buffed .6%... so then the question is what will Vanguard have over NC?

NC has decent stealth not the best but close enough, AA that allows her to be quite independent and really delicious reliable guns and her armor is more than enough to tank as long as you angle well and have the positioning. I have no problem with the NC but I have a problem with this out of the blue buff that nobody asked for.. Atleast nobody in EU but god knows what people wanted this.

thing is, as flamu said, the AP is very strong too, it's just this game, the only targets he had where BBs pushing nose in and DDs... so yeah, HE spam. But AP is great when you get broadside targets, I deleted a broadside musashi in less than 1:30 min once, 90k dmg and 10 citadels iirc

Part of me agrees, WG tends to add historical ships earlier in their games and then activate the powercreep leaver, but with no more historical warships that actually saw action they start creating these Harugumos, Stalinblyats and shit like that. Another part of me is reasonable enough to see Worcester, which is historical and currently OP as fuck...So yeah, WOWS is just a game man y u heff to be mad ;]

Worst t10 cruiser. Can't do anything against ANY other t10 cruiser. When I play Des Moines or Zao, I can feel power in my hands, but henri gets demolished anytime. Zao can do the same that Henri4 does but 10 times better
I wasn't keen with the line myself. Doesn't really have anything going for it. I did like the mid-tier French cruisers, but they seemed to get outpaced T8+. DM is a beast. Not sure why Flamu says the DM is horrible for solo RB's. I have a 74% WR with the DM and I play solo 95% of the time. I feel like I can outplay any other cruiser or destroyer. Never saw the point of grinding the USN CL line with the DM existing in the state it does. Worcester- slightly faster reload but smaller caliber guns and no armor. I can do everything the Worcester does, but better. Basically.
Can't comment on the Zao. Outside of a few rounds with it on various PTS events I haven't really given the line any attention. Stopped at the Aoba. Minotaur is a blast to play, but it's so situational that it's hard to be consistent with it.
