Techstep need to make a comeback!
would that make it more fun to listen to then?
It can't make a comeback because it requires knowledge of drum programming. A skill sadly lost long ago.
@@LulaJake and creativeness ! both lost , as you said.
This jungle; which grooves hard like jazz; still cuts through much off the contemporary BS. Most tracks are still as hyper relevant as the day this was released and the mix is presenting Rush as a fierce cunning master. Dope AF. In fact this is even more relevant and prophetic then ever. Faves!? DAMN SON is fine AF, Mothership, Amtrak, MDM. Crystal, SQUADRON is perfect... Hell; they all kick ass. Describing a very rough and sick intense distopian world. Well; it's here. We're here. No U turn as far as I can see. Am I wrong!? Thanks for da share bruv. ^_^
agree!
except your very 1st sentence.
these beats here are definately quantized. in jazz real drummers usually don`t play with clicktracks,
so there`s a permanent movement in the time signature which actually creates something like `groove` or `swing`, (plus ternary rhythms of course).
cheeeerz!
Appropriate word: Dystopian. This soundtrack would not have been out of place in the latest Blade Runner movie.
@@markuselipka I have to agree on that. This material is more synthetically controlled in that sense but you would probably agree with me that it has a pretty messed up "groove" of it's own. Thnx for the reply bruv ; D
@@ronj9933 Yep. These breaks all of a sudden start to fit in quite nicely with our current twisted realities and these breaks were/are total beasts almost touching the limits of what's possible. What does that convey about these times!? Peace bruv ; D
thats because the future is fucking garbage, long live the past!
Aw man Nico himself gave me a CD of this at a gig in Dublin the week it came out. Must root it out of the attic. This is such a masterpiece. Thanks for posting
Dnb peaked right here. Perfection
SPOT ON MATE!!.Miss these days sooo much the tracks were proper and long😏
This is just before Bad Company UK formed. They are the pinnacle.
@@wizards001 saw them few times, met them once & yep were great but still stand with my previous comment
Agreed. Bought this the week it came out. Got to see/hear NO-U-TURN play at a massive warehouse rave at Valley Forge outside of Philly in Spring 1997. It was a 3x3 tag team with Nico, Ed Rush and Trace. Once in a lifetime. The "main" room had Rob Hood (definitely during his peak period as well) and Josh Wink headlining. I caught Trace playing many, many times on the East Coast and Midwest around 95-97 when he was living part -time in Philly with Karl K (their crew was called PHI, Philly Hardstep Inc.). Caught Ed Rush @ his first US gig at Washington D.C. in the fall of 1996, and many times after, in D.C., New York, Canada, etc. Needless to say, I was an absolutely hardcore devotee of Techstep and Jungle/DnB from the early 90s and throughout the decade.
@@evltwin984yeah, agreed. I caught many sets by Bad Company over the years, mostly in NYC and D.C.. Toronto as well. Phenomenal production and jocking skills, but to me they can't top No-U-Turn in 96/97 in my opinion. Trace in 96 was the GOAT.
4am on a Wednesday morning headphones on Mandy keeping me company wishing I was back in the 90s.... what a time to be alive specially leisure lounge and the blue note Sunday night sessions I just wanna go out again!!! This and wormhole are the best lps ever and it STILL don’t sound old even tho it’s near on 30 years!!!! ❤️👌🏻😊
Yes, yes! I still have my signed CD copy of this form the man himself Nico! Drum and bass classic!
Released 25 years ago today!
my man killian back in the game with these dystopian mixes, never stop
you all probably dont care but does any of you know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow forgot the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Still sounds fresh in 2020
2024 as well.
This reminds me of some radio station in London which introduced me to this type of sound in the very early 00s . My ( and my lucky mates´s ) pre/post work soundtrack in the van ( commuting from work ) , all day everyday .
Some crazy , tweaked out, oblique, obscure drum ´n´ bass too ... you would have to be well connected to lay your hands on some of this vinyl stuff back in what I perceive as the mid " squat partying " era ... before it became harder and harder to turn two council flats into 1 half decent underground music venue with a simple but effective sledgehammer from work .
Powerful techstep!
One lucky vinyl-owner right here :)
So moody. Happy 25th anniversary. Great album.
legendary
aaah nice, lost my vinyl & cds long ago. Still a top sound. Catching Ed on tour was just mindblowing bliss. Deep, dark & delicious
oh dear cd gaps in the mix, the youth would not understand such madness
Thank you for the upload!! Apex jungle!!
rinsed this to death back in 97. Still up there with the best
Listening for n times, this is a clear example of the times where dnb was good, lovely breaks in this album
Terrifying

Hey- Future here, just letting you know that you made it.
So impersonal, so cold yet so human , more human indeed than tons of average standard cliche music.
Pretty Sonic and Sick 🚆🚅🤘☣️☢️
Mike Darkfloor recommended this during one of his MANTIS RADIO podcasts. Fuck yes.
And Simon Reynolds ..
