    Yes ma’am, it’s a busy time of the year! Winter is coming! ❤ I have to say, that’s some beautiful compost, y’all put in Jacob’s garden! The Mullen/comfrey plants, on “BerryHill” is lovely and the pigs are magnificent! It’s amazing, Andy, how long older things last, compared to the ones made from the 70’s to now. You said the magic words, “if I have the money, at the time.” Debt is one thing we taught our kids, never do it, you can live without it, and still have what you need. Especially, since, & this is Stupidity, Credit Score became a thing. How is it possible that owing people money, makes your credit better?? 🙃🙃 How’s that televised programming/broadcasting going for you now?!? 😂❤

    Watching yall throw them eggs to the hogs made me laugh out loud nearly. I remember when i was little the stray dogs would “suck” grandma’s eggs and leave the shells. She’d get so mad. She rubbed turpentine on their butts. 😂 They’d run off dragging their butts on the ground-grass gravel whatever. She was an old timer who you didn’t mess with her stuff. 😅

    I could never be sure of dry canning potatoes.
    My thoughts are that the amount of air or space is too high and bacteria WILL GROW if given the least little chance.
    I got the sickest ive ever been with salmonella and thought i would die.
    I never take chances now.
    I can now smell salmonella if its nearby.
    Nasty!

  • @robbielynnhowlethehomestea8761

    Hey, love hanging out with y’all! Do y’all ride the horses? Andy do you till those cowpeas under before you plant the winter cover crop?

    • @TrueGritAppalachianWays
      @TrueGritAppalachianWays  Před rokem +1

      we used to ride horses a lot but since we had the kids seems we just dont have time like we used too. and yes the cow peas and buckwheat will be tilled in to to work all that into the soil so it can break down

    Meagan, quick question, I noticed your canner did not have water covering the jars all of the way (no judgement, I promise!), when I tried to water bath dry potatos they floated up 😂, I'm thinking they won't this way? Forgive my ignorance, and ps I love you guys!

    • @eviletts3
      @eviletts3 Před rokem +1

      Shes using a pressure canner, it only gets a couple inches of water. Ive never seen anyone water bath potatoes.

    • @MNTNSTARZ80.
      @MNTNSTARZ80. Před rokem +1

      Read the Ball canning book and the USDA recommended ways to can food.
      Certain things like potatoes, beans, meats etc are always canned using a pressure canner never water bath.
      Water bath canning cannot reach the required internal temperature that pressure canning will.
