This is beyond outrageous. Politicians who think they know more about medical care than doctors and force their "knowledge" - which is based solely on religious beliefs - on their constituents need to be removed from office. Period. This is NOT acceptable. I am sickened that these lunatics have done this to so many women.
And what about the repubs banking hormone blockers and transition procedures for children?
I hope this woman realizes that her situation also affects her trans sisters👍🏿💯🏳️⚧️
@@mananimal3644Both the abortion bans and anti transgender care laws are sprung from anti American Christian Nationalist ideology. This does not belong in our laws. Both are violations of bodily autonomy and medical privacy.
This has nothing to do with their religious beliefs. Abortion isn't banned in the bible infact its kinda endorsed. Also god said life begins at first breath.
@@Riverrockphotos It has everything to do with their religion. Extreme Christianity and Catholicism teaches that life begins at conception. They believe they are protecting innocent humans, women be damned.
@@Riverrockphotos I will add that it has nothing to do with politicians' religion - they are using the religious beliefs of others to control women.
They should remove the handcuffs from the medical professionals and put them on the lawmakers who are practicing medicine without a license !!!
You'd think the pro-lifers would be disturbed by the fact that this fetus is dying a slow death surrounded by infection in a uterus with no amniotic fluid. But nothing seems to matter to them but control.
They think only “God” can decide when someone dies. They don’t care about the suffering of the fetus or pregnant women through any of it.
They are anti ife. Everything they do is anti life. The pro life is just a vote getting gimmick. There is nothing Christian about any of them.

Class action law suits.
Something most people don't know is that the preRoe abortion laws (1829-1960s) allowed broad discretion by doctors on medically necessary. the laws they are passing today are more draconian than the 1950s or the 1850s.
Absolutely true. When the doctors had civil disobedience when it was necessary , they were not threatened jail worse than a serial killer, fines and losing their medical liscense. These are faschists.
Yes! For millennia, abortion was ignored by government, religion and laws. It was, simply, women's business and the powers that be (men) didn't meddle in something that didn't concern them.
Thank you Amanda, for suing the state of Texas. It's women like you that give other women the courage to give voice and get justice for heinous decisions by Legislators that almost cost you your life. Justice matters.

Another reason why pregnant women need to call a life insurance company right after finding out they are pregnant cause the laws around the country keep changing and eventually every state in America abortion will be illegal.
Yes, that happened to Savita Halappanavar in Ireland. Refused an abortion of a septic pregnancy and died. It was the final incident that led to the legalization of abortion in Ireland.
@@emmajones8590 Exactly. Savita Halappanavar's death of sepsis from being denied a life-saving abortion, was so tragic and completely unnecessary!

That's an absurd equivalence and it hurts our side be resorting to it. It's the kind of non sequitur BS Republicans do.
Wouldn't it be great if we lived in a country where our highly trained medical doctors were able to practice medicine as a situation requires without political interference & actually prevent their patients from getting deathly sick - doctors should be able to do their jobs without politicians, churches & corporations limiting their access to life saving procedures. A large portion of our government leaders aren't educated enough to know how basic government works, they sure as heck don't know every situation that would require a woman to have an abortion & they shouldn't be making medical decisions for anyone else! If you don't want an abortion, don't have one - it's not your place to tell someone else that they can't have one. Women's healthcare shouldn't be a political issue, it's a decision between the woman & her doctor.
So well said.
If you live in a religious caliphate, women cannot expect to be treated fairly. At least she wasn’t shot in the mall, so that’s a win.

The best way to end Christian zealots from causing so much harm is to understand and share stories like this with friends and family, because many aren't fully aware of what's going on in this country.
Republicans and Christ-o-fascists rely on society being ignorant.
If you remove cell from the heart, those cells will twitch. That's what the GQP calls a "heartbeat". The fetal heart is not a fully functioning pump until 16 to 18 weeks.

She should not have been denied an abortion. But what's even more disgusting is they didn't even hospitalized her when they knew it was inevitable that she would become septic. They could at least have hospitalized her untill they could treat her.
In Judaism, if the pregnancy or becoming a mother will cause the woman physical, emotional, or psychological stress or pain, we care for the woman first and foremost. Termination of the pregnancy in such cases is not murder, but a responsibility to preserve the life of a woman.

Thank you for this interview. I hesitate to click the 'like it' button because this is such a painful interview, but I fully support what you are doing here. Women of all ages must speak out about the recent and horrendous loss of women's rights and freedom in the US. While the focus of anti-abortion legislators seems to be on the termination of viable pregnancies, all women are aware that at least twenty percent of all pregnancies are non-viable. This is fact. Under the current wave of draconian anti-women's health legislation being passed across the US, too many of these non-viable pregnancies will conclude by threatening the woman's reproductive health and too often, her life. A safe medical abortion is a necessary health care option for all women, and must, once again, be considered a woman's personal health choice. It must not be allowed to, once again, become an ideological issue controlled by electors and judges. About half of all women experience a 'natural abortion' at least once in their life--where the fetus is non-viable and an abortion procedure is needed to ensure the continued health of the woman. I did, and most of my elderly female friends and neighbours did as well. Sixty years ago we fought hard for the freedom to control our bodies, our reproductive cycles and our pregnancies because we are fully aware of the pain, injury and death that anti-abortion, anti-woman laws cause. And we will fight for the reinstatement of that essential and basic freedom for half of humanity now!
I am so sick of what is going on in this country.
My daughter had something similar happen in 2020. She was able to get the treatment. And now I have a lovely granddaughter.
When Roe v Wade was in danger last year, I told her what ramifications would be. And she said the health of the mother would always be protected.
Guess again.
this is so wrong please texas wake up and vote
These doctors should be sued for malpractice. Not to punish them, but to clearify the law. The doctors who knew as professionals what was best for their patient ignored the science they are experts in. With adverse effects for their patient. By that they did willingly harm to their patient.
I wonder how many "saved babies" grow up to become suffering or dead mothers so a republican can say they "saved another one" ???
In the eyes of the Catholic Church, it is expected that a woman should give up her life for the unborn child.
The Catholic Church is dominated by people who can’t get pregnant
You seem normal
And when a baby is forced to be born to parents who don’t want them how do you think they will be treated
These laws hurt women.
That is the bottom line.
Keep your laws off our bodies.
This is another story. There was another woman in Texas recently, who was forced to carry a non viable pregnancy to term and watch it die. No wait, it is the same case. Absolutely appalling. I wonder why she didn't go out of state.
What does that mean - go out of state? Randomly pick a hotel in a random town far away from your doctor, your home, your family, and randomly pick a hospital? Then, while you're sick or dying, start driving?
The other case was baby Halo she had a condition that was not compatible with life. But they made the mother carry her to term
And of course, the right to life bunch couldn’t help pay for a funeral
@@emilyfeagin2673 There is a whole collection of these cases. Baby Halo is another one. There was an older sibling, a little girl. The foetus had no brain. There was another one with a boy as older sibling. The foetus in that case had no bladder or kidneys. There was also no amniotic fluid, which meant continuing the pregnancy was painful for the mother. This mother was forced to carry to term.
Travel is hard for pregnant women sometimes under the best of circumstances. This wasn't a good time for her to travel. Consider how fast she went into septic shock, just 15 minutes. What if she still had hours to go before she crossed the state line? She would have been dead by then. Even if she could travel, facilities in surrounding states that still can perform abortions are booked up for weeks.
Welcome to DNA, the Divided Nation of Americanistan, where the republican taliban have struck again. Pun intended.
Doctors shouldn't need a lawyer in order to practice medicine.
I have miscarriage before and my water broke and the fetus was coming out with blood and I was 16 weeks pregnant and I don't understand how we women don't have a choice about our bodies... they don't care about women rights or health and I have a healthy daughter and she will be 15 this year and I'm not getting pregnant again because I obviously don't have a choice but to carry a dead baby just ridiculous and cruel?
Women around the country should start a class action lawsuit against every State for their negligence and bans on abortion and abortion medication. They may not get much from the suit, but they would show those States that they may end up paying dearly for the ludicrous laws they're enacting. And to show those State that women mean business, the suit should be so high that they may be forced to change their stance on abortion.
Good for her.

Clearly suppressing women and forcing birth is important good job!
Do you think they care what this woman went through? No, all they wanted to know was does she support an abortion at full term? She said no. But they make it sound like she was upset because she wanted an abortion at full term when that wasn't what she wanted. The baby had birth defects and because she couldn't get it aborted was forced to carry the baby to term and it almost killed her because it gave her sepsis. Totally different circumstances and a big difference between supporting full term abortion and needing an abortion because your life is in danger.
From what I can understand it’s actually worse. The baby didn’t just have birth defects it was slowly dying from the amniotic fluid being gone. I think she is a victim and it’s heartbreaking that a country as advanced as the US is forcing women through this traumatic danger.
Just wait until Fox News spins a segment about this young lady's situation, any and everything not about $787.5M settlement.
Honestly, it sounds like cruel and unusual punishment for women. It's truly nauseating. Despicable. 🤬
the fact that she is doing all of this in texas, one of the most idiotic red states ever (i mean, people (not me) voted a governor who wants to PARDON A CRIMINAL), and hopefully make a difference. this breaks my heart, more so of the fact because i work in healthcare and see this all the time. women who wants to desperately have a baby and then won’t get a chance to get one because something like this goes wrong, but could have been prevented.

I checked on my daughters heartbeat multiple times and she had passed. Unfortunately, i haven't gotten pregnant since then and it's been almost 4 years now.
this is so unnecessary; health care matters should be personal and aimed at the best possible outcome as desired. Women should always have the right to choose what happens to their bodies, just like men have that right.
This is evil and very scary.
You have to compare this to someone living in a palace before and getting demoted to a thatched hut!
Very depressing indeed.

Now we can add the heart wrenching horror this woman went through to the list of how things more than likely would be different if those who seem to be so totally *IGNORANT* in *WHY* the abortion procedure especially in her case is/was necessary & had to experience all this themselves or someone they loved had to.
